Intervention For Tristan’s treatment, my goal was to support her through this difficult life transition into a new lifestyle that accepts the death of the grandfather in a healthy manner. At the start of treatment, I wanted to make her aware that I was listening, supporting, and hearting what she had to say about her experience. An issue that needs a solution is Tristan anger and aggression towards her family members. By incorporating stress coping skills that can help lower her aggression and anger towards her family members and strengthening their relationship. During the interview process, I asked her about hobbies she enjoyed. She said hunting and fishing were the two outings she participated in, although, at this time, it was hard to do because of her memories with her grandfather. Tristan disclosed, right when she walks threw the door, her mother or one of her brothers wants to talk about her day, how she is feeling or do an activity together, when all she wants to do is be alone. I reported to Tristan that everyone grieves differently. I told her “It sounds like you rather be by yourself and calm down, but from what I am hearing about her family members, is that they dependents on you to help them take their mind off your grandpa. Have you told them that you rather be alone?” This is help Tristan realize that it is normal for others to grieve differently and be dependent on another to assist in adjusting to the loss of a loved one (Denckla, Mancini, Bornstein, & Bonanno, 2011).
