It can be defined as a process during which information is shared through the interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing or signs ( Bramhall, 2014, pp. 55-59). It is a two way dialogue where both people speak and are listened to without interruption, both ask questions and are able to fully understand what the other is trying to say. CINHAL was searched within the advanced search using keyword communication yielding 29885 hits. End of life care is keyed and it generated 7209 hits. Palliative care and end of life was joined and resulted to 978 articles. Communication, is joined to palliative care and end of life and generated 208 results. Literature article search is further scrutinised by selecting abstract only, academic journals, English language and adding the year 2010 to 2016 to ensure the literature found was up to date and still relevant to practice. The results generated to 107 articles which was enough to read and distinguish the patterns within the text. From a possible 107 articles identified 34 met the inclusion criteria. Primary and Secondary research articles for end of life care, palliative care and communication that were published between 2010 and 2016 were chosen. Books form Anglia Ruskin library were used as well as some useful websites in order to understand more about the
