...The Triangle Food Truck Project Group 7 is writing this proposal to request funding for the Triangle Food Truck Project (TFTP) benefiting at risk teenagers in the Triangle area of North Carolina. We are requesting this funding to cover our upfront supplies and equipment, as well as our initial payroll. The TFTP will give at-risk youth in our community a reliable income source and a fulfilling real world job experience that they may not normally have access to. In some areas of our community there is a long-standing issue of our youth not having solidified programs set up for them outside of school hours. In many of these same communities, the parents of these teenagers forced to work long hours or multiple jobs. This leaves their children to occupy their own time after school lets out. These factors can often lead to mischief and potential criminal activity. There is also a strong correlation between these communities and hunger issues. The next step for the TFTP will be identifying local suppliers that fit our mission of bettering our community. Next we’ll have to work through the process of identifying the troubled teens that could take part in our program. The schools would come to aid in this and provide information and proof regarding such teens. Group 7 believes that the TFTP will empower youth through providing jobs that provide them with life skills, much needed income and reduced chances of getting into trouble.
