“There is only one way in which one can endure man’s inhumanity to man and that is to try, in one’s own life, to exemplify man’s humanity to man. “ -Alan Paton. There is a copious amount of ways the two novels are alike but also different. In the novels, Tuesdays with Morrie and Night they struggled through never giving up, keeping the relationships alive, and all the humanity and inhumanity. Morrie never once wanted to give up his time he had left on this earth. He …show more content…
They both believed to wake up everyday in the Holocaust and try to push through it. There would be days they wanted to give up and just let go, but they chose to keep fighting and push through it.. The humanity of the novel, Night, was about never giving up and the relationships. Elie and his father kept themselves alive despite everything that was going on around them. Elie kept his father alive for as long as he could and helped him push through it. However, Elie knew his father was getting bad but Elie could not take on the Holocaust without him. The inhumanity in the novel, Night, was how the Naizs treated the Jews. They were talking the Jews lives one right after another. They would starve them, take their clothes, hang them, make them work to death, and put them in gas chambers. Elie at the end of the camp finally got to look at himself in a mirror. Elie had not seen himself in a long time, he could not even recognize himself. Elie said, “From the depths of the mirror, a corpse was contemplating me” (Wiesel 115). This shows all the inhuminity the Niaz’s did to the Jews. They treated them as if they were not

The Story of My Life

...HELEN KELLER To ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL Who has taught the deaf to speak and enabled the listening ear to hear speech from the Atlantic to the Rockies, I dedicate this Story of My Life. SPEECH CHAPTER V. LITERARY STYLE Editor's Preface This book is in three parts. The first two, Miss Keller's story and the extracts from her letters, form a complete account of her life as far as she can give it. Much of her education she cannot explain herself, and since a knowledge of that is necessary to an understanding of what she has written, it was thought best to supplement her autobiography with the reports and letters of her teacher, Miss Anne Mansfield Sullivan. The addition of a further account of Miss Keller's personality and achievements may be unnecessary; yet it will help to make clear some of the traits of her character and the nature of the work which she and her teacher have done. For the third part of the book the Editor is responsible...

Generally, those journalists do a competent job of reporting on the prospect’s record. In the case of Governor George W. Bush, Texas reporters had written numerous stories about his failed businesses in the oil patch, the dubious land grab and questionable funding behind a new stadium for Bush’s baseball team, the Texas Rangers, and his various political contradictions and hypocrisies while serving in Austin. I was one of those Texas journalists. I spent about a decade...
