Marriage, Forgiveness, and Death In this world commitment, the end of a life, and giving someone mercy always seems to be a problem for a great number of people. Fear plays a significant role for the reasoning of these problems. In the book Tuesdays with Morrie, written by Mitch Albom, Morrie teaches Mitch a lot of issues that Mitch wants to fix in his life. Three major topics Morrie talks to Mitch about are marriage, forgiveness, and death.
Commitment is a difficult action to come across for most people in this generation. Morrie said , “But the poor kids today, either they’re too selfish to take part in a loving relationship, or they rush into marriage and then six months later, they get divorced” (148). This is true. In this world nowadays people only care about money. The majority people of this generation don’t care about commitment. To some people commitment might be terrifying to them. Others might not have enough time to be in a serious relationship at the moment. Commitment is an important and difficult action to come across. …show more content…
Forgiving someone is tough to do occasionally, especially if it is something that is extremely hurtful. Morrie gives a valid point in this book that was exceedingly helpful to remember, he said, “Forgive yourself before you die, and then forgive others” (164). Forgiveness is important for everyone. In order for some to forgive another individual he need to forgive himself first. Forgiving himself might truly help forgiving others. It could help him realize he takes action in activities he regrets too. Forgiving himself could help open his heart for

Good Advice In Mitch's First Vistes With Morrie

...During Mitch's first vistes with Morrie said” the culture we have does not people feel good about themselves. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesnt work dont buy it”. The understanding of this quote is… People always want to have or look the coolest. And to only do so they have to change them self. By doing this, it may not be the great feeling because it's not them. So when Morrie stated about culture can make people feel bad about themselves, he’s saying that they have to act himself and not what others are doing. This advice helped me become more likeable to others because I took Morries advice and acted myself around others. For example The friends I have now is very different than what I had before them. In my elementary school years and part way in my first middle school year, I tried becoming more of a joc by hanging out with the people I thought were jocs. Sure I became more of joc and a better athlete, but their personality wasn't...

...Tuesdays With Morrie     Tuesdays With Morrie is a true novel based upon an older dying man's  outlook on life.  Throughout the story, the older man teaches his past  student about life as his body is slowly withering away from the " Lou  Gehrig's Disease."     CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT:  Morrie Schwartz (the older man) teaches his student, Mitch Albom, what really matters in life.  The only way that I can begin to  describe Morrie's character, is to quote an excerpt from pg. 10 regarding his  reaction after being diagnosed:         " But my old professor had a profound decision, one he began to construct  the day he came out of the doctor's office with a sword hanging over his  head.  Do I wither up and disappear, or do I make the best of my time left?  He asked himself.  He would not wither.  He would not be ashamed of dying.  Instead he would make death his final project, the center point of his days.  Since everyone was going to die, he could be of great value, right?  He could  be research.  A human textbook.  Study me in my slow and patient demise.  Watch what happens to me.  Learn with me.  Morrie would walk that final  bridge between life and death, and narrate the trip."         Based on his decision not to wither up and die, and instead use his  dying, as an opportunity to teach others what truly matters in life, shows  how unselfish and positive he really was.  Morrie didn't see his time spent  ill...

...ask yourselves, “What does ‘death’ mean to you?” I bet most of you didn’t even think about it deeply and thoroughly. There are numerous good books that can teach you a good lesson or two. But the book I am going to talk about -- ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ -- does far more than that, and somehow showed me some new perspectives to see the world. In the book, the story is developed upon the basis of the real-life relationship between the author Mitch Albom and his beloved professor Morrie. Mitch has once promised that he would keep in touch with Morrie even after he had graduated from university, but then he failed to do so....

For their memories, their patience, and their guidance, I wish to thank Charlotte, Rob, and Jonathan Schwartz, Maurie Stein, Charlie Derber, Gordie Fellman, David Schwartz, Rabbi Al Axelrad, and the multitude of Morrie’s friends and colleagues. Also, special thanks to Bill Thomas, my editor, for handling this project with just the right touch. And, as always, my appreciation to David Black, who often believes in me more than I do myself. The Curriculum The last class of my old professor’s life took place once a week in his house, by a window in the study where he could watch a small hibiscus plant shed its pink leaves. The class met on Tuesdays. It began after breakfast. The subject was The Meaning of Life. It was taught from experience. No grades were given, but there were oral exams each week. You were expected to respond to questions, and you were expected to pose questions of your own. You were also required to perform physical tasks now and then, such as lifting the professor’s head to a comfortable spot on the pillow or placing his glasses on the bridge of his nose. Kissing...

Governance & Moses Pava

...Faith-Full Leadership, Ethics and Accountability: Using the work of Moses Pava to enforce the need for moral leadership and governance The general rationale of this paper is quite simple: moral leadership and moral governance matters. It has taken me the entire semester and the detailed reading of the book, Leading With Meaning: Using Covenantal Leadership to Build a Better Organization by Moses Pava (2003) to help me make the solid connection between operational (structural) governance and moral/ethical governance. If the reader of this paper is an enlightened, educated academic, this point may not have a significant impact. On the other hand, if the reader is a “typical” lay practitioner, the point of this paper, supported by evidence provided by Pava (and the other cited resources) might offer a deep and long lasting influence which could possibly change how the reader thinks and acts in matters related to organizational leadership and governance. I was able to make many connections between the Pava text and the Sison (2008) text that helped me better understand how Sison is interpreting Aristotle in today’s complex global business world. I have cited several of these cases to help the reader make a solid connection between structure, intent morality, ethics, accountability and corporate motives. I typically use colored “flags” to note important points and passages in a book I am reading for meaning. After reading the Pava (2003) text, I looked back and saw over fifty...
