SECTION 1: Describe the importance of monitoring the intake of each of the following in your daily diet. Research foods that you like to eat that are rich in each, list at least two and use evidence from your research to determine if your food choice is healthy. Use the websites provided with each item to explain in as much detail as possible about the benefits and risks of too much or too little of the following items on a Nutrition Label. You should have a minimum of 5 (five) complete sentences for each of the items.
Many people are unaware of the amounts of nutrients required by their bodies and therefore fail to regulate them, causing problems down the road.…show more content… Use the following interactive application to review your maximum daily recommended intake of sodium, cholesterol, and calcium to answer the following questions.
1. Using the food you selected in question 2, did you go over your recommended daily intake allowance for any of the above?
a. No, in terms of Calcium, Cholesterol, and Sodium, I do not go over my recommended daily intake by eating either a Kind bar or an avocado.
2. Will you continue to eat your food choice? Why?
a. Yes, I will continue to eat avocados every day and still occasionally eat Kind bars. Packed full of healthy nutrients, mineral, and vitamins, avocados are a healthy addition to a meal. Kind bars, though less healthy, are still a relatively good choice if I feel the need to curb the occasional sweet tooth or need a quick snack.
3. Has your opinion of these food choices changed? How?
a. Being more informed about what I put into my body has changed my opinion of these foods only slightly. Before doing these assignments, I knew many of the health benefits of avocados, as well as the downsides of Kind bars. However, this activity has reinforced these
