A significant passage from the novel, Unbroken, by Author Laura Hillenbrand, is that Louie’s friend, Jimmie Sasaki, is believed to be a Japanese Spy. This revealing tidbit is the tip of the iceberg, in what appears to initiate the entrance into World War II.
