...PepsiCo’s corporate strategy had diversified, in 2008, the company into salty and sweet snacks, soft drinks, orange juice, bottled water, and ready-to-eat drink teas and coffees, purified and functional waters, isotonic beverages, hot and ready-to-eat breakfast cereals, grain-based products, and breakfast condiments. Strategies that kept their brands at the top were tied to new product innovation, close relationships with distribution allies, international expansion, and strategic acquisitions. A new element of PepsiCo’s corporate strategy was product reformulations to make snack foods and beverages less unhealthy. Their belief that its efforts to develop “good-for-you” or “better-for-you” products would create growth opportunities from the intersection of business and public interests. The company was organized into four business divisions which all followed the corporation’s general strategic approach. Frito-Lay North America manufactured, marketed, and distributed such snack foods as Lay potato chips, Doritos tortilla chips, Cheetos cheese snacks, Fritos corn chips, Quaker Chewy granola bars, Grandma’s cookies, and Smartfood popcorn. The PepsiCo Beverages North America beverage manufactured, marketed, and sold beverage concentrates, fountain syrups, and finished goods under such brands as Pepsi, Gatorade, Tropicana, Lipton, Dole, and SoBe. ...gearing to launch the product in South. Talking about Snackuits, Shalini Degan, Category Director, Delight and Lifestyle, Britannia Industries said: “The truth is that people want to snack and then they feel guilty which leads them to snack some more, making them unhappy. We want our consumers to feel ‘Snack Happy’. The idea being that we know that people want to snack and we don’t want them to feel guilty about eating in between meals. We decided to make a product that satisfies some need of the consumers but fundamentally it removes guilt. So we have been telling people, please have this whenever you feel like and be snack happy.” The highlight of the product is that it is baked and there is no ostensible calorie intake. In fact, healthy snacks have become a fad of sorts with many players joining the bandwagon and talking about health and nutrition such as Lays Baked, Aliva and even Nestle’s Maggi. Not deterred by many players jumping into the health platform, Ms Degan said: “People like to follow Britannia. We took to this platform much before the rest. It’s nice to know that others are following us. For us it is simple, we are here to make sure that our consumers are emotionally satisfied, we are here to ensure that along with the taste, we ensure that nothing that we do makes one unhealthy. That is something we have been doing for many years now.” But the question is whether the consumers are convinced enough to pick up a packet of such ‘healthy’ baked products?...

...Skinner box," reports Kristyn, a fellow AOL employee. One employee's behavioral experiment is another's paradise. "I'm really, really jealous," says Jon over at MTV Networks, after being informed of AOL's snack excesses. Featuring far more pedestrian fare like Rice Krispies Treats, Nacho Cheese Doritos and Reese's Pieces, MTV's vending options won't turn any heads. Jon laments that the only real stand-out is the 25-cent can of Coke. "I guess that proves that international conglomerates are in cahoots!" he says. Or it's just a ploy to keep people awake and alert for optimum productivity. Other big companies aren't faring much better. Jen gave us the scoop on IBM's snack selection, which was similarly standard, with plenty of chips, candy bars and the like. Still, they do try to push some healthier options. "There's a green leaf next to anything that is considered a 'balanced choice,' " says Jen. "It shows IBM's effort in trying to bring about some healthy options to a typically unhealthy way to get food." Don't expect to see any quarter Cokes, though. "The prices are really high, almost $2 for a small bag of chips," she notes. "Price alone would be the reason I wouldn't purchase from the vending machines." Maybe this is IBM's way of discouraging vending machine snacks in favor of fresh fruit or brown-bagged options? For ramen-fueled college students, $2 might be all they're willing to spend on an entire meal. Taylor, who works on the University of Pennsylvania campus,...

...Vitamin A can be found in yellow fruits and vegetables. On any given day I probably eat and average of 1-1.5 cups or servings of fruit and 1 cup of vegetables. Myplate suggests 1.5 cups of fruit and 2.5 cups of vegetables daily for someone my age. I didn’t realize how badly I measured against the suggested servings until I tallied what I eat during a given week. I try to eat an apple every day at work or on the way home from night class as a way to avoid unhealthy snacking. I also get some applesauce in with a few meals every week. This time of year I definitely don’t eat as much as I do during the summer, when I can just go outside to where the blueberries or strawberries are growing and just eat until I’m full. I don’t crave fruits and vegetables during winter they way I do in the summer. I will definitely be looking for more ways to incorporate both into my day, as I’m sure it would greatly improve my energy levels for my long work days. I probably only get a half cup of vegetables in during the work day, if I snack on carrots, and another serving at dinner if I make it home in time to eat. I’m definitely below the recommended 2.5 cups, and will need to actively find ways to add them into my diet. Apples are a great way to make sure you get your recommended fruit intake for the day, and they also help fill you up between meals. When I’m at work and feel like snacking, I grab an apple instead. I feel full afterwards, but it also satisfies my craving...

...LEOTECH TO: Employees and Volunteers FROM: Ella Pin, Founder and Director DATE: February 13, 2015 SUBJECT: Serving Green I am happy to inform you that the company is doing well financially and economically. Soon, our hard work and efforts will become noticed and more public. It has come to my attention that we practice a not so “green” eating habit. The purpose of this memo is to implement a healthier alternative to our free weekly snack delivery. Many of us consume daily, great amounts of soft drinks, chips, and candy. I am one of the many who enjoy eating all the junk foods day and night because they are addictive. But according to the Prevention Institute website, junk food is the top contributor of high rates of diabetes, high-blood pressure, and stroke. I don’t want junk food to be the reason of unhealthy eating that could lead to potential risks to my employees and volunteers. Take to consideration that we are a green company and what we eat should represent us to the general public. This policy effective after the meeting this upcoming Monday, February 16, 2015: The office will now provide fresh fruit, water, and peanuts. If you are concerned with any allergies you might have, veggie sticks, sunflower seeds, and soy nuts will be provided as alternatives if needed. As a company representing green events, we can make a huge difference to our company by implementing this new policy. Any question or concerns you may have regarding this memo are strongly...
