Description
We have chosen UniCharts EMR for our practice because of its ease of use and the affordability for a newly established plastic surgeon office. We were looking for something that could be easily modified to fit our needs of the uniqueness of this practice. We researched three EMR providers, AT&T , ATPA connect and UniCharts. We Found that UniCharts is an industry-compliant electronic medical record system that is fully scalable in multi-location and specialty situations. It is designed to handle multiple providers who may have their own unique charting layouts in spite of that allows them to common data that is necessary such as patient demographic and insurance information. This product is easy to use and implement because there is no special software needed just the internet explorer web browser. This allows access to patient charts at home or a remote location. UniCharts is compatible with windows 7 and Vista operating systems. Any version of Windows® XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 with latest service pack, any version of Windows 2000, Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 with latest service pack, any version of Windows NT® 4.0 with latest service pack. Along with the standard requirements UniCharts has the ability to open and manipulate patient charts simultaneously and has a built in mechanism for forwarding charts and scanned documents to other users within the facility. Any number of new folders can be created to better organize documents according to the specialty needs. In our Case her at Oasis we may be interested in having a separate folder for keeping ECGs and also want to create a folder designated to the patient's previous anesthetic treatment history for any past problems .
How It Works The client stage is Internet Explorer, which is the world’s most advanced and persistent browser and because it is fully operated by the internet there is no need for hassle with warranted equipment. UniCharts has strictly used the browser’s native technologies, JavaScript and DHTML, to implement the client tier. Absolutely no additional setup is required on the our side. No plug-ins, ActiveX controls, Windows DLLs, Flash or Applets need to be downloaded or installed into the browser. The client is designed to run successfully at connection speeds as low as 56K and compatible with Internet Explorer’s version as old as 6.0. Internet Explorer is the most widely used browser, and along with its version 6.0, it commands over 80% of the world’s browser market. Second or the UniChart's level is based on Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) framework that defines the standard for developing component-based multi-tier enterprise applications. On this tier resides the application’s business logic and rules. This tier is fronted by Apache Tomcat HTTP server and all communications with the first tier is done over HTTP/HTTPS protocols with XML and HTML as the exchange medium. Tomcat is the Sun’s official reference implementation for the Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages technologies and is being used in production applications around the world. Third or the database level that contains logic to manipulate and store data objects and is accessed by the middle tier via a highly optimized JDBC compliant connection pool. At its heart, this level contains My SQL database server which is the world's most popular Open Source Database. It is designed for speed, power and precision in heavy load use.
Support Services Since this product is based on the Internet Explorer which is the most widely used browser the cost is based by users. In our clinic we will have 12 users total at a price of $2,400 which includes one (1) year of email support and software updates within the same major version. The updates will be provided if and as they are released within the year via the auto update utility built into the UniCharts server component. Note that the license itself is a onetime expense and it never expires. Annual support renewal is entirely optional. The options of support services include annual support package comprises of unlimited email support and software updates. Valid for one (1) year from the date of purchase after that for a 12 user license it is only $470 per year.
