Public Health: P2
In this part of this assignment I am going describe the four key aspects of public health in the UK and four sources of information for determining patterns of ill health.
Monitoring the health status of the population
Monitoring the health status if the population implies that the government track the health of the population within the UK and then if there is a potential risks then they would announce this to the public. Monitoring the health status is when they record if there have been any changes of health within the population and with the result they alert people to the potential risks for example smoking within teenagers has increased. The study of rates of diseases within the human population is called epidemiology. This study is mostly important because it helps understand how the do the infectious diseases spread and how they lead to outbreak within the public. This study alerts people of the potential risks and tracks the changes in the health of the population. For example, within the UK the obesity rates are high. The epidemiological data it shows that the life expectancy has raised since the …show more content…
They do this by looking at patterns of health problems. For example, the obesity rates are high within the UK, so by this information there is a high chance that they increase services such as diabetes support service. This is because people with this condition have a high risk of developing diabetes. Another example would be smoking rates have increased within the population they would need to increase for more cancer support services. From smoking there is a risk of people developing cancer. They can look at different trends and patterns of different diseases such as, a disease like Chlamydia, so the government would have to see which services would be required such as, clinics and walk in centres. Unit introduction It is important, when working in business, to ensure compliance with organisational procedures and legal requirements, as the consequences of non-compliance can have serious implications for employees and employers. It is important, therefore, for learners to appreciate that those working in business must understand the principal issues which affect the working environment, for all individuals and the organisations that employ them. This involves keeping up to date with information on the legal issues that affect safe working practices. Everyone at work plays an important part in ensuring health and safety and it is essential that key personnel are aware of their roles and responsibilities. Employers must take reasonable care to protect their employees, and others, from the risk of injury, disease or death, while employees must take care to protect themselves and others. Safe working conditions and the ‘welfare of employees’ can contribute to the success of an organisation. It is important that organisations take steps to prevent accidents...

Microeconomics Assignement 1

....Microeconomics Assignement 1 1. a. Define opportunity cost, and explain its importance in economics. (3 marks) Opportunity cost refers to what you must give up (trade off) to obtain some item. It represents the forgone opportunities. It is very important to all of us; it helps and guides our decisions in life. For every decision made, no matter the circumstances; work, school, business, life in general, we incurred a cost, the opportunity cost, what we must give up to obtain the chosen good. The opportunity cost of an item is the weight of another item from those that society have to trade off or give up in order to obtain it, that is the way that society allocates its scarce resources. ALSO, OPPORTUNITY COST IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE THEORY OF COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGE AND TRADE. -1 MARK. b. The province of British Columbia hosted the 2010 Olympic Games and invested millions of dollars in improvements to facilities for these events. How would one determine the opportunity cost of the 2010 Olympic Games?
