...In this report, I shall be discussing how to initiate, maintain, develop and conclude a helping relationship. I will expand by assessing how integrating a range of helping skills which can be beneficial for clients, showing how these benefits can be monitored and how effective endings can be reached. Furthermore, I will evaluate the effectiveness of the use of counselling skill in regards to client decision making process and finally describing potential boundary issues that may occur in a helping relationship. Counselling is a process that occurs when a client or counsellor set aside time in order to explore difficulties or change in a safe and confidential place. Counselling can help the client to see things more positively and clearly, this can enable the client to specifically focus on feelings, experiences or behaviour, with a goal to have an appropriate positive response. It is advised that counsellors arrive 15 minutes to prior to counselling session to ensure the room is prepared and this time could also be used for the counsellor to get in the right frame of mind. Allowing clients to see preparatory behaviour can negatively interfere with how competent they perceive their counsellors. Prepared meaning the room is at a comfortable temperature not to hot or too cold. The room should be clean, showing no sign of previous clients such as clean coffee table. The seating should be 45 degree angle, as this is the best way to observe body language without creating a confrontational...

...Unit 24 - Assignment 1 Introduction For this assignment I will be describing the elements of a crime which are Mens Rea and Actus Reus. Mens Rea is Latin for 'guilty mind' and it is the mental thinking behind the crime which has been committed, it refers to the intentions of the person who committed the crime. For example, when someone commits theft their intention is to permanently deprive the owner/s of the object. Actus Reus is Latin for 'guilty act' and it can either be an act or a failure to act. For example, when someone commits theft they must've physically taken something. The three C's of Actus Reus must be taken into account when investigating a crime they are: * Conduct - this is the act of damaging or destroying something/someone. * Circumstances - this is the fact that the property must belong to another. * Consent - this is the resulting damage or destruction of the act. Causation Causation, also known as result crimes is when a consequence has come about as a result of the Actus Reus being committed. When establishing causation the first step is to ask 'was the defendant's act a cause in the fact of the specified consequence?' This can be answered by asking 'But for what the defendant did would the consequence have occurred?' If the answer is YES then the result wouldn't have occurred if not for the defendant's acts and, therefore causation is established. A case which shows the chain of causation is the case of R v White (1910) the defendant...

...The Effects of Hollywood Since the eventful day of September 11th torture has been a hot topic for the media, movies, and has even sparked debate amongst government officials. In the article, “Whatever it Takes” by Jane Mayer, she debates on the subject by comparing real life torture from an interrogators point of view and those of the fantasy world from which the producers and writers come up with for the hit TV show 24. Mayer attempts to influence her readers about the effects that the show 24 has on its viewers, which include young cadets, through interviews with highly trained interrogators. Mayer also interviews the show’s writers, producers, and actors to expose some of the main concerns in regards to the torture scenes in the hit show 24. Throughout the article, Mayer makes it clear that she does not agree with the way torture is being projected in the show 24 by starting off her discussion questioning the producer’s credibility, Joel Surnow. Mayer wants people to see Surnow as an arrogant and selfish person by quoting Surnow as saying, “People in the Administration love the series, too, it’s a patriotic show. They should love it” (Surnow Qtd in Mayer 1). Mayer’s point is that Surnow is very confident in the show’s popularity regardless of the criticism the show brings amongst some of its viewers. Surnow also bluntly tells Mayer that he is arrogant, there’s no denying it. She also points out many times in her article that he is a conservative and goes on to say that...

...Which CTU agent was executed in season three of "24"? When did the vindictive Nina and Sherry die? How does Jack Bauer return to CTU after being assumed dead at the conclusion of season four? 2. Credibility: I have not missed a single episode of twenty four since its deputed 5 years ago. Tonight the show is on from 8pm-9pm but you better believe that the TIVO is set. 24 revolutionized the after work action/drama genre for me. It deals with contemporary issues, real and more or less plausible terrorist threats, and a real-time hourly format, 24 redefined my expectations for all shows going forward. 3. Thesis: 24 is a great alternative to mindless, dull, and uninteresting television shows that flood the airways today. 24 is sure to grasp your attention away from other shows such as “The Apprentice©”, “Americas Funniest Home Videos©”, and “Gilmore Girls©” that sure the same time slot. II. BODY: 1. NEED STEP: A. There are many shows on television that just don’t catch the attention of the viewers. If any of you are like my uncle you may just watch whatever show the remote takes you too. While this can be entertaining, it does may not satisfy you as much as it could. B. Although “CSPAN©” may teach you politics, “Iron Chef©” may enhance your cooking skills, and “WWE Raw©” may give some that macho soap opera experience; none of these shows will give you the overall satisfaction that 24 has to offer. It is full of romance, suspense,...

...Unit 24: P4 & P5 P4 - Describe the importance of referral to other organisations. P5 - Describe potential boundary issues that could occur in a helping relationship. The referral to other organisations means to see whether the patient needs counselling at all or needs another professional for their problems, such as a psychologist, doctor, hypnotist or doctor etc. It is important to refer the client to other organisations because they may need help from different medical service sectors, for example the client may have an eating disorder therefor they are obese and they end up seeing a counsellor about their problem, which doesn’t make much sense, this is why the referral system is crucial so instead of the client going to the wrong service, they can go to a physiotherapist and help them overcome their obesity. There are many protocols assessed before giving a client a referral, they make sure the urgency of referral is determined by several factors such as; level of risk involved, wishes of client, immediate nature of the demands for the service and wishes of clients family, friends guardians etc. They also have to make sure that the certain type of service they refer the client to will benefit them and help them rehabilitate themselves to get over their problems. In conclusion it is important that the client gets referred to the proper professional to help them with their dilemma, however the client is entitled to know what kind of professional they are being referred...

...Title : Pasay city pet shop owner arrested for selling endangered wildlife. Published : june 5, 2014 Website: http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/364378/news/metromanila/pasay-city-pet-shop-owner-arrested-for-selling-endangered-wildlife Police and personnel from the Biodiversity Management Bureau seized illegally-traded wildlife in a raid on a house in Pasay City. The raiding team found animals like the Philippine sailfin lizard, blue-tongued skinks, and Palawan Hill Mynahs in the backyard and basement of the house, GMA News' "24 Oras" reported Thursday. Also found during the raid were an elongated tortoise, a white-bellied sea eagle, a Palawan hornbill, and a black palm cockatoo. Water in the basement was used to soundproof the house, the report said. According to Senior Superintendent John Guyguyin, head of the Philippine National Police Anti-Transnational Crimes Unit, it is difficult to track illegal operations like this because business is done through text. "Meron tayo kasing markets talaga diyan, so 'yun yung medyo mahirap. Yung supply and demand din yung nagdi-dictate," Guyguyin added. Abraham Bernales, the owner of the house, had reportedly been a long-time resident of Bgy. 188 Zone 20, but Barangay Chairperson Herminia Flores said they didn't know of his illegal activities. "Sabi ng tanod ko, ang napupuna niya lang dito, mga malalakas ang tugtog. Siguro para masabayan na hindi marinig," she said. "Ang alam ko lang may pet shop sila. Hindi...

...Idea When Watching Kick Ass 2 Me and Alice noticed there were so many questions unanswered (many open Endings) What happened to Hit girl after Kick Ass 2 Uncle Ralphie was a loose end so he can be made into a valid badguy The hero roaster is rather small so integrating a few new characters many comic book issues to be adapted into film Put the issues into 40 minute long TV show miniseries if pilot takes off. one of the ideas was to get big name hollywood actor to create a small buzz about the show. Summary of Research: When coming up with the idea for the tv series we re-watched kick ass 2 and took notes. This helped us keep note on the characters roles within the film. We watched how their positions changed towards the end of the film so we would know which ones to proceed into our series. We had to take into consideration which characters stories were best to develop in our show, some characters were killed off and others were left without much explanation, these were the ones which we looked at in more detail. This is where we got the backing story of uncle ralphie from.. His character was left in jail without any family members apart from chris left. He knew that he was getting into a fight, but was trapped away so couldn't help him. After chris died in the ending of kick ass 2 we wondered how uncle ralphie would react. This is what made us focus on his character. We decided to make him the new villain in the series, this seemed like an obvious way to...

...1. In a narrative format, summarize the key facts and issues of the case. The key facts of this case include Imus’ performance and history as a 28-year veteran shock-jock, his employment by CBS and MSNBC, his controversial and off-color comments against a girl’s basketball team, and CBS’ response to the matter. The issues include the remarks made by Imus’, was the response by CBS timely and appropriate and what could have been improved upon in preparation and execution of their crisis management approach. Also, was CBS strategic in their execution of their damage control? Should Imus have continually remained in the media empathetically apologizing then saying he had apologized enough? 2. Update the information in the case by researching it on the Internet. Focus your response on the specific issues in the case. The case study provided by the text provides limited information in the summary. Although it includes the incident, a little history of Imus and CBS’ response, it is vague as to how the matter became so public and why CBS would severe a $40 million contract with one of the nation’s most revenue-producing jock (Press, 2007). Further research reveals the history of Imus’ profession as a highly sought after shock jock, the efforts behind his firing, CBS’ reaction, responses and their inadvertent handling of the matter. The employment contract was extended to Imus by CBS in 2006 because he was a shock-jock of the nation and because his controversy and...
