1.Ethernet
PAP - an access control protocol used to verify a user's password on the network access server. It then requests a password from the user’s computer and sends the password to an authentication server for verification. PAP is usually used when connecting to older UNIX-based remote access servers that do not support more secure authentication protocols.

CHAP - the network access server sends a challenge message to the client computer. The message is a random value. The client computer encrypts the challenge message with a user's password and sends the combination back to the access server.

2.Wifi

WEP - it offers security by encrypting data over radio waves so that it is protected as it is transmitted from one point to another.

This unit aims to explain the reasons people do the things they do when it comes to health and wellbeing. The mind and the body are interlinked, e.g. stress caused by daily hassles or lifestyle can have a detrimental effect on the body’s immune system and can lead to serious illness. Psychologists have given us many ways to explain human behaviour and this unit is designed to enable learners to apply what they have learnt to their own practice; from helping people overcome emotional problems to dealing with challenging behaviours. The knowledge and understanding gained throughout the unit will benefit all those who work with others, be it people who use services, their friends and family, and other professionals. A wide range of perspectives is covered which can then be applied to many different health and social care settings. The behaviourists and social learning theorists can help to explain how health related behaviours are learnt as well as ways to teach new behaviours to people who use services. The humanists, on the other hand, provide us with a set of guidelines for working with...

The Challenge of International Human Resource Management: Balancing the Duality of Strategy and Practice

...Abstract Over the last two decades there has been an unprecedented increase in the number of organizations that have internationalized their operations. The international movement of labour that has been concomitant with such expansion of international business has meant that issues associated with the management of human resources across international borders are increasingly important to international human resource managers and academics. The research presented in this paper examines international human resource management (IHRM) pedagogy and practice in Australia. It reports IHRM academicians’ and practitioners’ understanding of the major issues for teaching and practice in IHRM and elucidates current developments and directions for this field. Keywords International human resource management; pedagogy; Australia. Introduction During the last two decades academicians and practitioners of international management have paid increasing attention to the impact of globalization on the management of human resources across national boundaries. International businesses have increasingly turned their attention to issues such as expatriate management (employees being transferred by organizations to work outside their country of origin/permanent residence), managing in other cultures and managing diversity in multicultural domestic workforces. Simultaneously, academicians have advanced understanding in these areas through the development of a distinct sub-field within the management discipline...

Partners Healthcare Case Study

...Partners HealthCare System (PHS): Transforming Health Care Services Delivery through Information Management Case Description According to government sources, U.S. expenditures on health care in 2009 reached nearly $2.4 trillion dollars ($2.7 trillion by the end of 2010). Despite this vaunting national level of expenditure on medical treatment, death rates due to preventable errors in the delivery of health services rose to approximately 98,000 deaths in 2009. To address the dual challenges of cost control and quality improvement, some have argued that what is needed is an integrated electronic medical record (EMR) system and associated information technology-enabled processes. While the information systems currently available may meet the needs of the industry, the question remains as to what is required within and by the health care services organization to achieve a satisfactory response to these dual challenges. At the present time, Partners Healthcare System (PHS) maintains a centralized digital records library on over 5 million patients, augmented in real-time by data, textual comments, and artifacts (i.e. x-rays, MRI’s, EKG’s, etc.) as these patients visit doctor offices, receive hospital-based or home care services, and obtained prescription medications and other therapies. Procedures are in place to ensure the data quality and integrity of these patient files. Going forward, any health care professional across the network can access a patient’s complete...

Leadership

...lived up to its promise of helping practitioners resolve the challenges and problematics that occur in organizational leadership. Many current theories and models are not contextualized, nor do the dynamic and critical issues facing leaders drive their construction. Alternatively, practitioners too often approach leadership problems using trial and error tactics derived more from anecdotes and popular fads than validated scientific data and models. Yet, while this gap between theory and research has bedeviled the leadership community for much of its history, there have been few if any systematic examinations of its causes. In this review, we have sought to highlight the particular barriers on the leadership practice and theory-building/testing constituencies, respectively, that constrain efforts to integrate them. We also offer a number of propositions and guidelines that we hope can break through these barriers and help stakeholders create a more effective leadership theory and practice symbiosis (LTPS). Finally, we have offered two cases of effective LTPS as examples and models for such integrative research efforts. D 2003 Published by Elsevier Inc.
