...An issue in today’s world is the environment. There is dispute over what we should do about it. One issue in the environment is global warming. Global warming has become a problem around the world; it is caused by CO2 emissions and other gases in the atmosphere that cause the sun’s thermal energy to be absorbed, otherwise known as the greenhouse effect. Studies have shown that at least 20% of ice on Earth has melted since 1979. Although it may not sound so bad, every year we deplete the natural ice on Earth by using CO2-emitting machines such as vehicles, factories, and other heavy machinery. The depleting may accelerate until all naturally-made ice caps and glaciers are gone. Ocean levels will rise sky-high from the melted ice. Global warming is also causing change in both wind and ocean currents. The ocean currents have changed so dramatically scientists believe anymore change may cause catastrophic waves, not to mention the change in the flow of things. The wind’s change in direction may cause high-speed winds, and horrendous tornadoes. A mixture of the two would cause weather worse than Hurricane Katrina. Despite disagreements on this subject, studies have shown that this could possibly happen if we keep going the way we are. Of course, in 1972, scientists were afraid another ice age would happen because the temperature was going down half a degree between 1945 and 1968. Then, the temperature started rising. This shows that it may or may not happen. But from...

...simplify the work of developing programs and that Java was used for webpages. Java seemed to play the role of a gateway to efficiently making programs and webpages. I found a paper on the history of computer programming languages so that I could expand my knowledge on some concepts of computer programming. One of the concepts I found the most interesting was a concept created by Von Neuman called, “conditional control transfer.” (Ferguson, “History of Computer Programming Languages”). I was familiar with conditional statements before this, conditional referring to how if certain conditions are met certain actions are executed. A good example of this would be a program that automatically rounds, where if a number is greater than or equal to 5, round up, and if not let it stay the same. In regards to creating efficient and organized code, it’s good not to have a clutter of conditionals, as this can be confusing. Instead, Java has its own special methods of conditionals, such as the IF statement, the SWITCH statement, and the WHILE statement. WHILE being for loops, SWITCH being for very specific conditions that need to be met that can be represented as an integer, and IF being for a multitude of scenarios. Von Neuman’s concept is vital to having different outcomes in programming and the aspect of chance in games. The documentation of Java contains a massive amount of useful information regarding the language, and how to use certain functions. (Java Platform, “Standard Edition Tools...

...I have highlighted this during the last PMC meeting that SSI website didn’t get good feedback during UAT. Despite that it went for Usability test which engages internal and external users. During the meeting, I have also highlighted that NEC need to ensure that systems are tested and reviewed by project teams before requesting users to test. The system should be ready for testing by end user when project teams have 70% assurance on the quality of the product. Current Situation: I have attached links to SSI and NCSS website at UAT stage (http://ssiuat/SSIUAT and http://ncssuat/NCSSUAT). From the few clicks to these sites, you can clearly see that SSI website is not ‘product ready’ in comparison to NCSS website. Following are the broad issues with SSI website: • Missing Webpages which do not conform to agreed Information Architecture • Missing graphics and texts • Links do not work • Inconsistent font and format of text used • Previously agreed by NEC that SSI Website will be able to link TMM and update upcoming courses. There is a disconnect between TMM systems developer and website developer. SSI users have expressed their frustration as they can clearly see that the product is not ready for testing and the entire exercise of creating test report will be futile. It is clearly felt by users that UAT and Usability is done as an activity to comply to project timeline. This has severe repercussion downstream as users do not wish to submit gap documents where more than 50% of...

The tests included were Ball Shear Test, Wire Pull Test, Ball Access Ratio, and Loop Height. For Area 4 I had already data regarding the Ball Shear Test and the Wire Pull Test, so I just need to time the remaining two test. However, I need it would be my first time for the four tests in Area 5. Moreover, I need to identify what type of die (quad or dual) was being processed. On the other hand, ma’am Loi urgently needs the data about the length of time it takes to finish the Vacuum Dry Pack Operation in Packing Area EOL Area 5....

...GS 1145 Strategies Unit 11 Assignment 1 Reflection Kelly S Draney This class has been an eye opener for me in respect that I was a real procrastinator. It has helped to open my eyes to the fact that I need to get my homework done and in on time. With the assignment on scheduling I found that I wasted a lot of time during the day, when I could be getting things done. Breaking down my schedule into blocks showed me that I had a lot of wasted time watching TV when I could be more productive. Having to juggle time for work and school was something I was not accustomed to. I have a greater respect for my students now seeing what they have to go through. The other thing this class helped me with, was learning how to use the Microsoft Office Suites programs better. I had no idea how to use Power Point before this class. Gratefully we were put into small groups to work on these projects. The good thing about these projects was it gave me a chance to learn about Power Point. I was surprised how easy it really is to use. It also helped to learn the different rules about completing a Power Point Presentation. I enjoyed being in your class. I heard a lot of good comments from students who felt you were tough, but fair. You created a fun learning environment in class. I look forward to having you again for an instructor later on in my studies....

...the task type settings to control how resources affect task assignments * Apply a preset resource contour to change work value distribution * Working with task information forms When planning a project schedule, adjustments are often needed to reflect necessary changes in project scope, assignments, etc. In MS Project, when an assignment is changed, the schedule is recalculated to display the changes. You can work with the scheduling method and the task type settings when making changes to the initial resource assignment. In the previous lesson, the initial resource assignments were made for our project. But we need to learn how to make adjustments to how those resources are used. It is important that you read every part of this lab carefully, if not twice. Working with Effort-Driven Scheduling How a task reacts to the addition and removal of resources is defined by the scheduling method and the task type settings. In MS Project, the default scheduling method is effort-driven scheduling. Effort-driven scheduling extends or shortens the duration of a task to accommodate changes to resources but doesn't change the total work for the task. Work is the amount of effort, or number of hours, resources put into a task. The total work for a task is determined by the duration estimate for the task and the initial resource assignment using the following formula: Work = Duration * Units For example, say you give a task the duration of one day...
