...Unit 5 Discussions Assignment Comparison between an article and short news story After reading both texts the first aspect that struck me about the story was the difference in viewpoint. While the news story focused on the initial event and implications the news story went into more detail regarding the moment. This is certainly an important aspect of the story. The article, which it is significant to highlight is from a sports perspective, looked at a wider context. This instead, discussed other events of a similar nature such as the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and how that also made an impact at the time. I found the shorter story instead to focus on the point of view of one person and how the events of 9/11...

Due process is fair treatment through the normal judicial system, especially as a citizen's entitlement. Is part of the Bill of rights and is the Fifth Amendment (No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation. George Mason, December 15, 1791). 2.) Why is due process such a central notion in American criminal justice? ...Current Events-Unit 5 Assignment Amelia Smith MT340-01 Conflict Resolution and Team Dynamics Kaplan University May 22, 2012 After doing some research on the internet I came across an article from the Los Angeles Times Business section, regarding a sexual harassment suit. In 2007 the EEOC filed suit against ABM Industries, Inc. alleging conduct that was in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, prohibiting sexual harassment and gender discrimination within the workplace (U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 2010, para. 3). The conduct that reportedly took place was one employee being raped by a supervisor, indecent exposure, groping, asking for sex and trading sex for promotions. Sexual harassment is not about sexual gratification but about power. The definition of power is defined as the ability to influence the behavior of others with or without resistance. When speaking of power a lot of people will confuse it with leadership. Even though the two are closely related they are not the same. Power does not have the same goal compatibility that being a leader does and leadership is concerned with the influence it has on its followers and power is not. In the case of sexual harassment within ABM, supervisors with power abused their positions over subordinates. Supervisors have formal power over employees; they are responsible for giving them their assignments, reviewing their performance, promotions, salary adjustments, and even...

...nasopharyngeal sample was tested for Influenza using PCR. According to the diary cards, targeted N95 group had the highest rate of self-reported adherence to intervention as 82% said they wore an N95 respirator while performing high-risk procedures. The group that wore N95 continuously had the lowest compliance as only 57% kept the respirator on at all shift. The surgical mask group self-reported compliance rate was in the middle with 66% adhering to wearing a surgical mask the entire shift. Primary endpoints were analyzed by intention to treat. Cluster-adjusted Chi square tests were appropriately used to compare the event rate for the primary outcomes in each arm. Sample-size calculation was done prior to the study. To obtain 80% power at two–sided 5% significant level for detecting a significant difference of attack rate between the three intervention arms. The attack rate was assumed to be 3.9% in the N95 arm and 9.2% in the continuous medical mask arm. A sample size of 559 participants per arm (23 clusters) was needed, however the number of each arm was smaller. CRI rate was highest in the medical mask arm (98 of 572; 17%), followed by the targeted N95 arm (61 of 516; 11.8%), and the full-time N95 arm (42 of 581; 7.2%) (P < 0.05). The rates of confirmed viral infections were all below 4% and didn't differ significantly between study arms. After adjusting for confounders, only continuous use of N95 remained significant against CRI and bacterial colonization, and for just CRI...

...4.3.1. Statistical Result of Scenario One: The iPhone is misplaced and needs to be located This was the scenario where the user had misplaced the device at home location and hence the iPhone was needed to be located. The conditions were that the iPhone was at home location but was misplaced and needed to be located. There are now two conditions in the scenario: the iPhone is online and the iPhone is offline. The success rate of the results for this scenario is computed in the following table of statistical result: The iPhone in the offline mode did not seem to respond efficiently when the network was completely available. Out of ten test attempts, five test attempts were a failure. The preceding table explains the same. The iPhone is not efficiently responding when the mobile data connection is not stable in availability. The offline requests made were not successful in reaching the device. Some tests failed by delay in time while some requests din not reach the iPhone at all. 4.3.2. Statistical Result of Scenario Two: The iPhone is lost and needs to be located (not tracking) This was the scenario where the user had lost the device (assumed) at some location, say X, and the user needed to locate the iPhone. The conditions were that the iPhone is at X location and is lost and the user needs the iPhone to be located. The mode that is available to the iPhone in this scenario is online and offline. This scenario is without using the tracking functionality. A custom user message is...
