Unit 5 (P1): Describe health promotion and the purpose and aims of three different health-promotion activities.

Unit 5 (P2): Describe how different types of health promotion are used to benefit the health and wellbeing of individuals and the nation.

What is health promotion?
Health promotion is the process of helping or showing to people on how to improve their quality of life. It will help to choose appropriate choices in terms of better health. It enables people to increase control over their health and effects thereby improving their health. It cannot be forced to the people to follow certain health routine on contrary it will get choices and information for people to choice right healthy lifestyle.

What are the aims of health promotion? …show more content…
Some of the focuses of health promotions are raising health awareness, encouraging safety and healthy diet and reducing harmful habits like smoking and excessive alcohol intake for example health promotion gives health awareness about risks associated with smoking such as lung cancer, depression and heart problems thereby leaving the choices into consumers whether to choice smoking or to quit. Similarly, a television campaign might give us awareness about unprotected sex such as preventing sexually transmitted diseases (STD) by using condoms. It is again down to the choice of an individual where to use protection or carry on with unprotected sex thereby risking their lives. There are some mass of people who actually unaware about potential health hazard brought about by some habits such as excessive drinking so the health promotion might encourage people to quit drinking, that can result in choosing healthy lifestyle and increment of life …show more content…
It will enable people to enhance their quality of life and help them make choices for a better life.

 Peer education: Advice from health professionals, community members to help to increase health change among themselves, motivate each other in healthy behaviour.
 Advice from health professionals: In schools or in communities health professionals are invited to convert information to groups of learners on specific topics such as drinking, smoking and safe sex. Health professionals may involve within medicine, surgery, midwifery, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy and many more... They may be called for many different purposes, for examples a nurse going to a secondary school and telling pupils about drinking alcohol.
 Shock tactics: Showing pictures on what it may happen if you continue with that issue. For example, showing what happens to smoker’s mouth if they carry on smoking.
 Testimonies from people personally affected by issues: This is when a person speaks about the disease or addiction that has affected them; they go to community group and schools perhaps about the dangers of
