...Unit 6 Discussion 1: Determining Firewall Rules Learning Objectives and Outcomes <!--[if !supportLists]--> <!--[endif]-->You will be able to explore design and firewall rules for a bastion host. <!--[if !supportLists]--> <!--[endif]-->You will examine how a bastion host allows administrators to access Samba and Secure Shell (SSH) for remotely managing a server. Assignment Requirements As the Linux system administrator of insurance company Secure All, Inc., you need to design firewall rules for the organization’s bastion host file server, which uses Samba. This server is located in the local area network (LAN) with the network address 172.16.0.0/12 and subnet 255.240.0.0. The server should also allow Web application access for its online transaction platform to mount the filesystem. The Web application resides on the Web server located in the demilitarized zone (DMZ). This server has two interface cards. One card, which is for the traffic from the DMZ firewall, is linked to the wide area network (WAN). This card’s IP address is 192.168.1.5. The other interface card has the IP address 172.16.1.5 and is linked to the LAN. Which firewall rules should be written using iptables for the server hosting Samba? Discuss and suggest firewall rules to allow administrators to remotely manage the server using SSH. Use the concept of “default deny” when designing the rules. Participate in this discussion by engaging in a meaningful debate...

...Alex Arovits 2/17/2015 When looking at Bureaucratic systems, there are four major steps that take place. Those major steps are: setting performance standards, measuring performance, comparing performance against the standards and determining deviations, and taking action to correct problems and reinforce successes (Bateman 328). In the Sandwich Blitz business, there is a very good example of how these four steps need to be taken into action. In the Sandwich Blitz organization a problem arose that an employee was writing down hours that were not actually worked. If we go through the four steps of a bureaucratic system setting performance standards would allow for these problems to not arise. If Dalman and Lei set performance standards, an employee would know lying would not be accepted. Setting a performance standard could be as simple as stating an employee must only write hours down that are worked. The second step blends in with the first. If a rule or expectation is written down, measuring performance is making sure the employees are sticking to these expectations and rules. This runs into the third step, if this rule is broken it could then state that if a person is not to do this my may be punished in a certain way. Lastly, the fourth step blends in all previous three steps and allows for correct punishment to be taken into place and make sure all employees know breaking the rules is unacceptable. If Dalman and Lei were to implement these steps into their business...

...ABA 1 Unit 6 Discussion Chaining is a specific sequence of discrete responses, each associated with a particular stimulus condition. Each discrete response and the associated stimulus condition serve as an individual component of the chain (Cooper). A completion of one specific behavior in the chain leads to the next specific action in the chain. All steps have to be completed correctly in order to move forward and gain mastery of the behavior. • Define target behavior • Reinforce successive elements of the chain • Monitor the results Shaping is the process of systematically and differentially reinforcing successive approximations to a terminal behavior (Cooper). Shaping helps the person get closer to mastery by providing reinforcements along...

...In Malcolm Gladwell’s article “How David Beats Goliath,” Gladwell profiles Vivek Ranadive, a National Junior Basketball coach, who used unconventional strategies to take his team of “underdogs” to the national championship. To accomplish such as a task, Ranadive applied critical thinking to techniques to break down the game into simpler terms and devised a solution that would play to his team’s strengths while exploiting the opponent’s weaknesses. Throughout history, so-called “underdogs” have applied this same strategy to overcome obstacles and rise to great victories, such as, Lawrence of Arabia. Ranadive looked at basketball from an outsider’s perspective. He had minimal knowledge of the game, but couldn’t understand why most teams played the same exact same way every time. It didn’t make sense to him. Sometimes it’s best to look at problems from an outsider’s perspective. You don’t have be conventional and do things the way the establishment tells you. This is how people come up with innovative ideas that change the way we live and how we do business. I can see how the implications in Gladwell’s article can be applied to business and the MBA program here at Capella. Many of the program outcomes of the MBA program teach us the same skills that Ranadive used to take his team the championship. He applied foundational knowledge across core disciplines, integrated information from differing perspectives, and provided solutions through critical thinking and analysis. These...

...Capella MBA 6004 Unit 6 Discussion 2 In the article "How David Beats Goliath” uncovers the secret to victory as an underdog. An underdog is someone who is seen to be less than or having an disadvantage. The secrete to overcoming a strong opponent is to combat the opponent with a non-traditional approach. If ones opponent is strong in a specific skill set, it is wise to craft at strategy the works against their weakness. In the article Vivek Ranadive coached a basketball team of average 12 year old girls who were not passionate about basketball. Through observation he noticed that a lot of their opponents were passionate basketball players who frequently played as pastime. He also noticed that most teams did not “full court press” for the majority of the game. He therefore coached his team to full court press in each game since they were not as skilled in other things like dripping, shooting etc. Consequently this team went all the way to the national championship. They became strong where the “better” teams were weak and rendered victory. This same principle can be used in everyday life as well as business. For example is Greg had a desire to be a music artist or rapper. He can assess the strengths of the best-selling artist and then fill in a gap their they are lacking. If someone else has the territory covered Greg can simply find his territory and this is what will make him thrive. I plan to apply this David defeats Goliath principle in my fashion company. Instead...
