...Money Tumeka Smith Dec.14, 2012 Jason Friedline XECO210 Medium of exchange is an item that buyers give to sellers when they purchase goods and services(The Monetary System). Retailers’ sale their services or products, and money in exchanged for it that’s a medium of exchange. When I need groceries I go shopping. I like to shop for groceries at Food Lion or Wal-Mart. The groceries that I purchased are a medium of exchange. Money was transferred from me “the buyer” to the seller for the good I needed. A monetary transaction was made when I bought the groceries. A unit of account is the yardstick people use to post prices and record debt(The Monetary System). School loan are a good example of unit of accounts. My loan repayment amount wasn’t determined by the quantity of goods and service but, by dollars. This is how financial aid would measure my record of economic value. A store of value is an item that people can use to transfer purchasing power from the present to the future (The Monetary System). An example of a store of value would be stocks. Stock broker are usually given money to make future purchase stocks for the buyer. The stock broker will hold the buyers money for future purchases when they see fit to buy the appropriate stock. The stock broker holds all the power to purchase the stocks for their client. Traders also use store of value. Traders may exchange goods for money or nonmonetary assets, and hold them for future purchasing power. Reference:...

...Money Is: Power? Happiness? Money is the solution to all your problems. If only you had a million dollars - life would be bearable, interesting, enjoyable, maybe exhilarating. With every waking breadth you concede money, money, money is the answer to your prayers. Well is it? As the concept of money evolved over the millennia - substituting agreements of value for things - money became a substitute for power. The words: "money", "power", "property" have evolved as a series of surrogates: with power the primordial desire, and survival in a material world the paramount quest. Things, objects - property, possessions - became proxy for power. Over time money became a proxy for things. The desire for power springs from a natural instinct to stabilize an unstable existence. Money has come to represent what we covet most - power. Money is power! After the need to survive the most pervasive force in the human psyche is the drive to gain power. We want to be in control, we want to be in charge - we want to be powerful. So by securing prosperity for yourself and your kin, you aren't looking for money. You really aren't looking for tangible things; you are seeking power. But to what end? We are simple, relatively small and powerless creatures making our way in a material existence. We judge our surroundings and our success by what we can see, hear, touch, taste, and smell - this is after all a physical world. And in this physical world we see limited resources...

...Whose money is it? What is money? We all use a piece of paper which`s called “money”, but, what is really money? Why are we dependent on money? Is money one of the vital things in our life? Can we get full happiness from money? So many questions come to my mind when I think about money. However I have not get into the power of money and only have an abstract understanding of it, one thing which really concerns me is how I can handle money wisely. Basically, money is the store of value, which indicates that it can be reliably saved, used or stored for later use. Money is also unit of account, which serves the common base for prices. Money is definitely a medium of exchange. People can buy their needs by money or sell things for money. Many economics say that Modern economies could not function without money. So, people all around the world all know how powerful it is, and that`s why we all work for money. Central Banks print out money and provide for society and economy, so does it mean money is originated from any bank or government? What is God`s plan about money to His people? Unfortunately, many people do not realize that money is one of the creations of God for His children. God has given us physical and mental ability to use the resources for our daily life necessity. Handling money wisely, diligently and loyally is one of the most important things in our life. Since this piece of paper is very powerful and valuable, it can see who you are. In our eyes, we can see two kinds...

...to stabilize it; as it becomes more well-known it is accepted in more places. The most significant issue Bitcoin faces is the uncertainty of its future. With improvements and innovations being made daily in the fields which control digital currency it reduces the likelihood that BTC will keep up, rather than be replaced with a newer iteration of itself. Digital currencies are not going to leave us, but in fact they will inevitably become a part of our daily lives. The benefits of it are seen by all, with the disadvantages felt by only a large few. With our daily lives being more inundated with e-commerce, it is only fitting that a currency emerges alongside the new economy. 2. I believe that Bitcoin, currently, cannot serve as a unit of account, medium of exchange, and store of value simultaneously. This is due...

...A Report - Microfridge: The Concept by Group 3A Background and concept of the product In 1987, Mr. Robert Bennett wanted to explore and exploit his idea to combine a refrigerator, freezer, and 500-watt microwave oven into a single unit called “Microfridge”. He is 31 years old and has a Master’s degree in engineering. He had devised electronic circuitry that shut off power to the refrigerator/freezer whenever the microwave was switched on. A hot plate and a refrigerator would draw 20 amps whereas the unit he designed would never pull more than 10 amps of current. Financials To this end, he approached a number of major electronic goods’ manufacturers and Samsung and Sanyo agreed to consider its production. Sanyo offered to provide the product at the rate of $263 per unit. According to them, the estimation of upfront tooling payment was $170,000. Following that, Bennett added $300,000 for the first year of selling and administration hoping he would earn a return of 15% of the selling price (Selling price of $309 on Sanyo’s Landed price). He also is planning to leave his job and use the proceeds of $50000 in funding. Surveys To go ahead with his idea, Bennett approached Boston’s Atlantic Research to conduct interviews with 200 Massachusetts. This gave him an idea about the demand of the product in the market and his end customers’ expectations. His research found that students were interested in the concept of micro-fridge because 90% of the students were using hazardous appliance...

...Benihana of Tokyo Some restaurateurs like myself have more fun than others, says Hiroaki (Rocky) Aoki, youthful president of Benihana of Tokyo. Between 1964, when he opened his first location, and 1972 he had gone from deficit net worth to being president of a chain of 15 restaurants that grossed over $12 million per year. Background By 1972 Benihana was basically a steakhouse with a difference--the food was cooked in front of the customer by Japanese chefs, and the decor was that of an authentically detailed Japanese country inn. From a humble 40-seat unit opened in midtown Manhattan in 1964, Benihana had grown to a chain of 15 units across the country. Nine were company-owned locations: New York (3); San Francisco; Chicago; Encino and Marina del Rey, California; Portland, Oregon; and Honolulu. Five were franchised: Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Beverly Hills, Seattle, and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The last unit, Las Vegas, was operated as a joint venture with Hilton Hotels Corporation. Rocky, who was a former Olympic wrestler, described his success as follows: In 1959, I came to the United States on a tour with my university wrestling team. I was 20 at the time. When I reached New York, it was love at first sight! I was convinced that there were more opportunities for me in America than Japan. I decided to enroll in the School of Restaurant Management at City College basically because I knew that in the restaurant business I’d never go hungry. I earned money those...
