Some people have found the default editor to be complicated and unfriendly to operate. I have chosen Emacs and Vi to discuss. Emacs was derived from a version of Multics which saw its inception August 15, 1979. The original creator was Richard Stallman, the software is a video-oriented text preparation and editing system it ran on Honeywell’s Multics system it was widely accepted at MIT and had a large user community.
