My Favorite Place

...memory or memories, a feeling, or even just being in the environment. All of it leads up to being a persons “favorite place”. Everyone has a favorite place in their home, a place where he or she can be him or herself. Somewhere you can find peace and harmony. For some it's a quiet place, for others it's a hustling, bustling, full of people and movement place. But all of these places have one thing in common; they are places where you'd run to in times of both joy and stress. There is one place to me that makes me feel like I am the only one in the world. I chose this place because its stress free. It’s the only place in my house where I can be myself. I don’t have to worry about what others have to say. I can lay back and relax on my bed. A lot of times I just lay down and close my eyes and daydream about places I'd like to see or think about things that make me happy. One thing I do not do is think about things I need to get done or anything that makes me feel stressed because then I’ll never feel relaxed. I usually try to stay away from these kinds of thoughts and it usually works out well. Being able to watch whatever I please on my own television. Even playing my Xbox 360, without having to share with my brothers. Having the opportunity to stay up all night, listening to music. Designing my room the way I want it. My bedroom is like paradise on earth. Well maybe not paradise, but to me it means a lot. It gives me a peace of mind. My bedroom is the place where I can honestly...

Music of the 60's -Protest Songs

...The sixties are known as a generation fulfilled with experimenters, revolutionaries and freethinkers possessed by their own creative force to come together to tackle the political and social problems of their time. In a piece titled “The Times They Are A-Changin’: The Music of Protest,” Robert Rosenstone describes how the decade revolutionized music, not only “breaking down some of the old forms in which it was for along time straight-jacketed,” but inspiring new subject matter (Rosentone 291). Music was no longer just about love anymore. It dealt with the real world in which people live including civil rights demonstrations, drug experiences, war, interracial dating and explicit sexual encounters (Rosenstone 291). Rosenstone explains that the success of these songs in the early sixties prompted others to be written and from the second half of the decade on there was a full efflorescene of such topical songs written by young people for their peers. Many of these songs are referred to as protest songs. During this time, many American citizens chose to clearly denounce the United State’s involvement in the Vietnam War. Artists such as Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Buffalo Springfield addressed their views through their music as a surefire way to raise awareness and bring people together. It is argued that the so-called antiwar anthem of this time was a song titled, “Give Peace a Chance” by John Lennon and I couldn’t agree more. An ideal protest song that is still...

Sleeping Is a Necessity

...Date: October 16, 2011 To: Lawrence J. Rogers From: Christy Verghese Re: Sleeping is a necessity Who doesn’t need sleep at some point in time? It is very important to obtain the right amount of sleep to help one function normally throughout the day and to maintain functions of the body. So even though sleep is a necessity the need for a bed is more of a luxury demand considering there are other substitutes to beds for individuals to get sleep such as futons, sofas, air mattresses, and cots. On the third quarter fiscal report for 2011 net sales were $334.1 million with a 3.8% increase from the previous quarter (see Table 1). There was an operation cost increase of $1.7 million to $37.8million. Note that the ability to provide variety is a benefit to consumers to have a choice and to provide a wide range of prices to allow a choice. There was a news release that stated that the industry is going to increase commitment to specialty bedding which in turn will provide new jobs that will lead to adding consumer loyalty through employees. The development of better beds will lead to consumers choosing a Sealy mattress versus a cross-price product like Serta or Simmons Mattresses. Hot Sunny Day

...Hot Sunny Day One Sunday morning, hot, and humid sunny day. I woke up, because the sun hits my eyes, and because of that, my window shade fall off. Clearly, I could see it was on my dirty floor. There was a rat sleeping on it. I didn't plan to move the rat, because I was so tried that I couldn't move. I was sitting on the edge of my bed. I stared out at the wall for at less an hour. Then I looked down. As I'm moving down with my eyes. My eyes were so slow that I felt that I'm like a robot. When I tried to get myself up, as I moved away from the edge of the bed. My boxer was like a glue, clinching onto my bed sheet. I would had to use some muscle in order to get it off. It was tricky because my body was sweaty and sticky. I got it off, then I found out that my bed sheet has a yellow mark where I just sat on. It was yellow and it smelled bad. It smelled like a dirty swamp. I almost punk but, I held in. I got into the bathroom. The moment I opened the door, I jumped because there was a girl who was half naked with her head sticking into the toilet. The floor was covered in blood and the sink as well. I had no idea what was going on. I closed the door awkwardly and said, “Please take your...

Bear Vacation Research Paper

...Warm, sunny Destin is like Heaven on earth. This last summer I acquired a chance to visit Destin for summer vacation. Yes, the 16 hour drive was not super amusing, but it was TOTALLY worth it in the end. I had a ton of fun. We spent a great deal of days relaxing on the beach, but we also went to this enormous amusement park called the track. What I loved the uttermost about that trip was all the time we spent together. We also went with our wonderful friends the Hirners. On the day we were suppose to leave, my mom nudged me to wake me up from my slumber at five a.m. She was screaming “ hoary hoary our bear vacation starts today!” From the book The Bears Vacation. I knew what day it was so I rapidly bounced out of bed to hustle and get in...

When I Should Start Later Essay

...before that? Well, if you have, you are like me and are probably not going to bed early enough, resulting in you being sleep deprived. This problem affects my education, my sports, and my personal life, too. I struggle with this problem and think that some things have to be set so I can go to bed earlier. If I could set a time when I go to bed every night, stay off my electronics at night and get all my homework done earlier, I would probably not be so sleep deprived. There are many causes to this problem. The first one is that since I am now in middle school, I have more homework, sports, and after school activities. This makes it harder for me to go home and go to bed earlier when I have stuff that I have to do before I can sleep. “A 1997 study found that alone time was key for teens.” (Weingus,2015). I need some alone time in my day and sometimes late at night is the only...

Memory Foam Research Paper

...original form. Why does this make it more comfortable and supportive? It does so because when you roll over at night the foam pops back into original position where your body had just been and instantly conforms to the curves and contours of your body’s new position. Memory foam is made of thousands of tiny memory cells that operate by absorbing body heat and pressure. They soften when exposed to heat and adjust to pressure. It’s like having your very own custom made mattress that was manufactured specifically for your body weight and design. No other topper for your mattress has these types of benefits. You also get the benefit of not disturbing your partner at night even if you’re someone who rolls around are constantly gets in and out of bed. Memory foam is also good for those people who toss and turn or who have aches and pains. Because of the contouring and the conforming to your body shape, memory foam provides a pressure point free sleep. Pressure points are what cause you to toss and turn and what cause aches and pains. Without pressure points your sleep will be much less disturbed and much less painful. Memory foam is also good because it helps with circulation. Because there are no pressure points, your blood flows much more freely which is helpful if you are ill or healing from an injury or a surgery (that’s why memory foam is the choice for hospitals). The memory foam pads are slightly more expensive than other types of pads. However because of the increased amount of...

If they are old enough, you should explain the process at least once a day before making the change. Tell them they will be sleeping in their own bed and reassure them that you will be nearby. If they do not already have one, it might be helpful to give them a security object or blanket, whatever they prefer. It would be nice for the object to smell of you.
