...VARK Analysis Paper Tonya Kelly Grand Canyon University Family Centered Health Promotion NRS-429V Serina Madden August 03, 2014 VARK Analysis Paper Learning style is a way of learning that helps an individual learn best by a given modality (Cherry, 2014). Individuals typically display diverse modes of learning with multiple and varied talents with differing modalities of learning (Kumar, Smriti, Pratap, & Krishnee, 2012). The VAK instrument was expanded by Fleming and Mills in 1992 into the VARK. The original VAK founded in 1970 was original Visual, Aural, and Kinesthetic learning (Bernardes & Hannah, 2009, p. 1-12). The Read-Write method was added to comprise of the VARK and the questionnaire was created with 16 multiple choice questions with four items each corresponding to the four sensory modalities V for visual, A for aural, R for read-write, and K for Kinesthetic (Bernardes & Hannah, 2009). The questionnaire, which is accessible online, is very easy to complete. The VARK instrument can help the student determine their learning style and enable them to apply specific strategies that fit into their preferred learning style and modality. An individual taking the VARK questionnaire with scores of Visual 11, Aural 7, Read-Write 14, and Kinetic 10 would indicate that the preferred or primary method of learning would be the Read-Write method or modality. The Scores of Visual 11 and Kinesthetic of 10 could indicate that the individual could also possibly be a multi-modal...

...Vark Analysis Paper Cheryl Smith Grand Canyon University Family Centered Health Promotion NRS-429V Colleen Darrow March 9, 2014 Vark Analysis Paper Learning Style is the way individuals begin to concentrate on, process, internalize and remember new and difficult academic information (Dunn & Griggs, 2000). There are many different models of learning styles. The Kolb model, Honey & Mumford model and Felder & Silverman models are just a few. According to the Kolb model there are five different learning styles. These are Aural, Reading/Writing, Kinesthetic, Visual and Multimodal. Kinesthetic learning style uses all of your senses i.e.; sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. This is a familiar learning style for me. It is more of a hands on approach to learning. Some examples of this kind of learning are case studies, real-life examples, collections of things, laboratories and trial and error. Kinesthetic learners do best when what they are learning is relevant to them or their life experience. They are confident and can solve problems when facing a difficult situation (Shahin Gholami and Mohammad S. Bagheri. (2013). Kinesthetic learners condense their notes making them into a learnable package with photos, examples, and relevant material that relate to real life. Kinesthetic people like to answer practice questions and do role playing as a means of studying for exams. People with Reading/Writing learning style also like to answer practice questions as a way of studying...

...Learning Styles: Fact or Fiction, A Literature Review of Learning Styles Guy F. Workman This paper was completed and submitted in partial fulfillment of the Master Teacher Program, a 2-year faculty professional development program conducted by the Center for Teaching Excellence, United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, 2012. Author Information During my fourth deployment, my Brigade Commander notified me that I had been selected to teach at West Point. This new assignment struck me as odd for two reasons: first, I had not applied for the position, and second, during college, I was not what you’d call a “stand-out” student. To say that I was surprised to find myself preparing to teach college students was an understatement. I was secretly daunted by the idea but upon arrival to West Point, I learned of the Master Teacher Program. The thought “Oh thank God” entered my head, as it seemed the answer to the question “How am I going to learn to teach these kids?” had just fallen into my lap. While participating in the Master Teacher Program, I was introduced to methodologies of questioning, levels of questioning, class dynamics, class discipline, academic integrity, and a myriad of other pedagogy topics. Early in the program, I was introduced to the theory of Learning Styles. Surely everyone has heard such things as “He’s a visual learner,” or “I think people learn better by doing,” and so on. Initially, I gave the concept little consideration (as the importance...

...The VARK Analysis Paper Maureen O. Omoaghe Grand Canyon University: NRS-429V November 3rd , 2013 The VARK learning style assessment is a questionnaire that was designed by Neil Fleming in 1987. It provides those who take the test with an idea of what learning style they have. There are four scores that can give a person up to five study strategies: multimodal, visual, aural, reading and writing and kinesthetic. (Fleming, 2011). The learning style can also help students develop, explore, and advance their learning strength. After taking the assessment, the writer’s strength was recognized by the score which is 10 on the reading and writing learning style. The reading and writing learning style make up 65% of the population (Acc.ccconline.org, N.D). Leaners who use the read/write learning style are good observers, they like to see and observe things to aid with learning, examples are pictures, diagrams and demonstrations, they also like to take notes while learning and rehearse it over and over again to reinforce learning. They comprehend better with written words, drawing and written instructions. The read /write learning style incorporates visual approaches to writing by using different highlighters to categorize and connect different thoughts. They also highlight headings in a book for easy remembrance. He/she also can list out important points from a book while reading, search for the correct spelling of words from a dictionary or the internet for accuracy, use handouts...

Introduction Nowadays, there is an increasing demand for innovative products. Innovative products have several benefits. One of these is that it facilitates the enhancement of an organisation’s market orientation. Besides, it is needed in order to differentiate itself from their competitors. Lastly, innovation is required in order to achieve long-term performance which ultimately leads to the survival of an organisation (Lecture 1, 2015). Due to this increasing demand, organisations choose more frequently to involve their consumers in the new product development (also known as co-creating). In this report, co-creation was defined as: ‘Any collaborative activity in which one or more customers actively contribute to a new product development process’ (O’Hern and Rindfleisch 2009, p. 4). This analysis looks at products as the total of products and services offered in current society, instead of focusing on a limited range...

...Chapter 2 Related Literature International Educators have, for many years, noticed that some students prefer certain methods of learning more than others. These traits, referred to as learning styles, form a student's unique learning preference and aid teachers in the planning of small-group and individualized instruction. If optimal student learning is dependent on learning styles, and these styles vary between distance and equivalent on-campus students, then faculty should be aware of these differences and alter their preparation and instructional methods accordingly. According to Joy Paul Guilford’s Structure of Intellect (SI) theory, intelligence is viewed as comprising operations, contents, and products. There are 5 kinds of operations (cognition, memory, divergent production, convergent production, evaluation), 6 kinds of products (units, classes, relations, systems, transformations, and implications), and 5 kinds of contents (visual, auditory, symbolic, semantic, behavioral). Since each of these dimensions is independent, there are theoretically 150 different components of intelligence. Examples of learning styles one is called the Cognitive learning style by Anthony Grasha and Sheryl Reichmann refers to the preferred way individual processes information. Unlike individual differences in abilities (e.g., Gardner, Guilford, and Sternberg) which describe peak performance, styles describe a person’s typical mode of thinking, remembering or problem solving. Styles...

...PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN Ibrahim Landajani Instructors Name Business Date PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN There is a need for individual to set their personal development plan in life. The fundamental element of being a professional is to set goals that are not too high but all the challenges should be present. The personal development plan must be reasonable, attainable and achievable. This means that goals should pose certain challenges like in the application of SMART Approach which are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bounded. ...UNIVERSITY OF LA VERNE La Verne, California ACTION PLAN FOR CHANGE A Paper Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for MGMT 569: Conflict Management and Organizational Change Student’s Name College of Business and Public Management Department of Management and Leadership May 2014 Action Plan for Change Organizational Description The organization that is the subject of my action plan for change is the xxxx. The xxx has gone through many changes with the creation of a formal human resources division within recent years. Attempts to centralize the recruitment and hiring process in the human resources division with limited staff have been unsuccessful. A formal recruitment and hiring process was implemented in the past two years that helped to centralize the process, but also increased the time to get new employees started in the organization. Believing that creating a formal process will alter informal realities is a myth in planning for change (Cloke & Goldsmith, 2000). Hiring supervisors have reacted to human resources involvement in the process negatively. I have noticed an increase in managers looking toward me to make decisions that they should be able to make themselves. They have also stopped doing some tasks related to the employment process that they should still be completing. A change is needed that will involve human resources and...

...Downloaded by [University of Ottawa] at 14:44 24 March 2014 Football, Violence and Social Identity Downloaded by [University of Ottawa] at 14:44 24 March 2014 As the 1994 World Cup competition in the USA again demonstrates, football is one of the most popular participant and spectator sports around the world. The fortunes of teams can have great significance for the communities they represent at both local and national levels. Social and cultural analysts have only recently started to investigate the wide variety of customs, values and social patterns that surround the game in different societies. This volume contributes to the widening focus of research by presenting new data and explanations of football-related violence. Episodes of violence associated with football are relatively infrequent, but the occasional violent events which attract great media attention have their roots in the rituals of the matches, the loyalties and identities of players and crowds and the wider cultures and politics of the host societies. This book provides a unique cross-national examination of patterns of order and conflict surrounding football matches from this perspective with examples provided by expert contributors from Scotland, England, Norway, the Netherlands, Italy, Argentina and the USA. This book will be of interest to an international readership of informed soccer and sport enthusiasts and students of sport, leisure, society, deviance and culture. Richard Giulianotti, Norman...

...body language how to read body language signs and gestures - non-verbal communications - male and female, for work, social, dating, and mating relationships Body Language - technically known as kinesics (pronounced 'kineesicks') - is a significant aspect of modern communications and relationships. Body Language is therefore very relevant to management and leadership, and to all aspects of work and business where communications can be seen and physically observed among people. Body language is also very relevant to relationships outside of work, for example in dating and mating, and in families and parenting. Communication includes listening. In terms of observable body language, non-verbal (non-spoken) signals are being exchanged whether these signals are accompanied by spoken words or not. Body language goes both ways: * Your own body language reveals your feelings and meanings to others. * Other people's body language reveals their feelings and meanings to you. The sending and receiving of body language signals happens on conscious and unconscious levels. (N.B.
