...are forced to forget their past and become great military commanders. In the story, Ender’s Game, the battle school is in an extremely futuristic space station that is in the Age of Peace and War. To begin with, the novel must be placed in the future. For example, the knowledge of the people in this story is incredible. Evidence of alien life, space stations creating its own gravity, and children at the age of eleven becoming military commanders are all examples of the expanding knowledge at the time. For instance, “They had been doing it only seven months when one of the west coast nets sent Demosthenes a message. An offer in a column for a pretty good newsnet… “I can’t do a column,” said Valentine. “I don’t even have a monthly period yet.” This quote explains that the children, Valentine and Peter, have become so smart they have succeeded in changing the ideas and beliefs of commoners and received a job opportunity under the ages of 14. Their society is malleable and the wisdom these children already have, where they can see that in their society, is unreal. Another description of the era and time of this novel is the Age of Peace and War. The society is controlled and run by the military. It is a known fact that all around the world children are introduced to the military society around infancy. For example, “The trigger was obvious - he had had toy guns, as all children had, almost since infancy.” This quote was stated by Ender as he learned the controls of the laser gun used...

...With the recent events that took place, JetBlue had no strategy dealing with the delays caused by weather related issues. JetBlue needs to reemphasize its strategic planning dealing with delay causing situations. For JetBlue to a successful company, it needs to reevaluate its emergency preparedness plans. The Bill of Rights that was released after the events that occurred on Valentine’s Day is only a partial solution to the big problem. We know that Congress passed the law where passengers cannot sit on the tarmac for more than 3 hours, so that whole issue with having the passengers sit on the tarmac for 5 hours was totally unacceptable. Customer satisfaction is one of the primary bases of JetBlue airlines and for any airlines for that matter. They should take more emphasis in this area for sure. No passenger wants to wait on an idle plane for more than an hour, and loosing passengers’ baggage because JetBlue did not have a computerized system in place for recording and tracking lost bags. The reservation system defiantly needs to be updated. The reservation system was not expanded enough to meet the extreme customer call volume. Since most of their agents work from home, the system that they used also needed to be updated to handle the call volume. That should be a priority for the airlines. There were other issues that needed to be addressed and taken care of. There seems to be a lot of different applications that run different components of the systems that JetBlue uses...

...Analysing the poem ‘Valentine’ ‘Valentine’ is a poem where all of its stanzas are an extended metaphor. For example, “I give you an onion” symbolises the famous vows used in a wedding ceremony-“I give you this ring”. The extended metaphor is about the characteristics of an onion fits the notions of love. Throughout the stanzas it uses the conventional symbols of love such as “red rose, “lover” but then creates a negative image about the words that may at first seem impossible to create a negative tone about. Carol Ann Duffy wanted to get a truthful image of love across to the readers and break away from the stereotypical view that love is always positive and that relationships are not always a good thing. One example in the poem is the line,” possessive and faithful, as we are, for as long as we are.” She starts go along with the normal conventions as a love poem but the last line of the stanza is doing the total opposite as “as long as we are” is establishing in the readers mind that actually love does always exist forever. The poem is written by someone who obviously does not think greatly about the whole concept of love lasting forever. In fact, it brings out what love is exposed, stripped of all the pretend beliefs of its fairy-tale like nature “It will make your reflection a wobbly photo of grief”. This does make the mood somewhat depressing and saddens the reader especially if they have recently been through an unsuccessful relationship, it would no doubt re- enact...

...Qi Xi ("The Night of Sevens") or Chinese Valentine's Day celebrates two legendary love stories explaining the position of the stars on the seventh day of the seventh month in the Chinese lunar calendar. Today! These tales have inspired Chinese poetry and opera as far back as the Jin Dynasty (256-420 AD). In the first story, the Goddess of Heaven’s seven daughters caught the eye of a cowherd during one of their visits to earth. They were bathing in a river and the Cowherd, Niu Lang, decided to have a bit of fun by running off with their clothing. The prettiest daughter (Zhi Nue, the seventh born), asked him to return their clothes. Law dictated that since Niu Lang had seen her naked, they had to marry. The couple lived happily for several years until the Goddess of Heaven missed her daughter, and ordered her to return to heaven. The lovers were permitted to reunite once each year. On the seventh night of the seventh moon, magpies form a bridge with their wings for Zhi Nu to cross to meet her husband. In the second story, Niu Lang and Zhi Nu were fairies living on opposite sides of the Milky Way. Feeling sorry for the two lonely sprites, the Jade Emperor of Heaven brought them together, but they became so enraptured with each other that they neglected their work. The Emperor decreed that from that point on, the couple could only meet once a year. Star gazers celebrate Qi Xi by gazing up at the star Vega, east of the Milky Way which represents Zhi Nu, and at the constellation...
