Values Reflection Paper

In this paper it will identify my core values, also describe the way people acquire and change values.
Also, by explaining what values can do for us as well as the values do to us. Lastly, will be explained is how the nature and importance of human values play a role in the workplace.

So what are my core values, what do I value most? It turns out that people mean a lot to me and not just my family even though they are first. That with the way that I was taught in my formative years,
I was taught the basic right from wrong, use your judgment when needed, take pride in yourself and that work that you do. I realize that I was taught old school and that over the years taking notice in the way that people place values on things that having meaning in their lives. I seem to value the way that I view family and people in respectful manner and empathetic to needs and feelings. But I expect that they can follow my lead and contribute to the cause and have somewhat of the same values as me. This gives anyone a boost in confidence and what is meaningful and has value to them. And the way that I view work is so much difference in the way society views it now a days. I was taught to take pride in my work and to do the best job that I am capable of doing. I was taught to be a leader, take charge, and show others the importance of working and getting the job done. I feel that if society would change and reflect on values that would benefit everyone, by learning to help one and another, by having those that are empathic and strong leader skills set out to do a mission and a goal? The old saying goes “pay it forward” by caring about how society functions would close the generation gap and what values should be considered the most important.

So how do people acquire or change their values? It has been said that it is in our DNA that has to do with behavior. It is defined into stages with imprinting being the first dealing with birth to age seven.
This refers to not only physical development but mental development the foundations is being laid out.
With parents and others participating, than school all of this will show how we develop values in our lives. Values

Next there is model/ hero stage that helps form values for ages approximately seven to fourteen.
This stage is known as identification, this is were not only family plays apart but outside interaction with other people. This is where we start observing others, to act like them, this expands to groups and the influence they have on people. The process of identity expands further with education, children look up to role models whether it be in a story or a real person.

Finally there is the socialization/peer stage that deal with thirteen to twenty years old, during this stage the values that are taught are from peers with a common interest that come together for reinforcement. This is when they reach physical maturity, beliefs, values and a certain culture that defines their personality.

So can people change their values? Values can be changed I one or two ways first, significant emotional event or tragic episode. With significant emotional event is most likely happens an unplanned or undirected manner. Even though there could be a challenge or disruption in our present behavior beliefs and patterns that is created artificially. You must be able to tell the difference in the SEE’s they change external events and our gut-level values that modify behavior. This is a way to determine the positive and negative effects and the way we cope.

What values do for us, they teach us in the way we lead ourselves and lead others. People value things in different ways than others. What you value helps shape a person life. With the expectations, purposes and goals helps determine your life’s values. So what has values done for us, it tells us who we are as an individual, leader or nation. Values can provide us a number of things. Values can be categorized as into a value system. Where the informative years, culture and society played a major role and the consequences of the values. There are so many types of values that come into play. Values can act as filters that operate to the degree of right and wrong. While the value of trying to bridge the generation gap to reconcile but with a diverse experience between generations could be irreconcilable.

Values

Other values include produce individual differences that is with society influence us physically and emotional. Next is the map and compass that gives us the position to accept or reject an idea. Then there is cause or resolve conflict value that deals with the conflict with another person and how to resolve the issue by maybe a compromise. Also the value that triggers our emotional intelligent by experiencing wrongfulness can cause emotions that can make you act unjustly. Values can also be thought –provokers, this is thinking of approach that would be the best to accomplish the outcome of a situation. Lastly we have values that motivate us, this value motivates us to choose a path to reach the ending goal.

So after looking at the various values how does nature and importance of human values fit into the workplace? Values play an important role in the workplace, most workplaces focus on a mission statement, strategy, operating plan and services. In order to have a successful workplace it has been found that being open and up front about goals this can lead to support from the public and that be being open at a job leads to communication and support. In the workplace it is up to the management to hold themselves as well as workers accountable for their actions. If this is not enforced it can lead to demoralization in the workplace. There is also understanding and respect, by being management with the ability to successfully do the job directs you to understand and value the opinions of co-workers. So how does this work first the leaders understands their values then must understand the values of co- workers and agree on the same values. It does not always work that way so the leaders must be optimistic get people involved in the same values to make work easier. Many accomplish this be being empathetic at work, understand your workers this can close a gap if a worker is having a difficult time.
Work together to find a solution that will work out for the best.

Values play a major role in society, you start learning value from birth and throughout your life there are many ways that you are influenced by values. Values affect people on a daily basis what is right and wrong, at work or personal life. But the most common goal is to find a neutral ground that would work best for all.
