...Vera Wang was born into a wealthy family in New York City. She lived on the Upper East Side with her mother, the daughter of a Chinese warlord, and her father, a pharmaceutical executive. Vera’s wealthy upbringing largely influenced her view on fashion. Her mother was very stylish and would take Vera to Paris fashion shows during her childhood. Vera states that her mother, “absolutely loved fashion” and “I had a mother that was superbly chic. She made fashion this adventure for me as a young woman. She viewed fashion not as superficial but as expressive.” (Zimbalist, 2007) Vera explains that from her mother she, “got a first class education with style, and quality, and exposure to European houses, and the kind of education that sometimes you can’t even get in school.” (MOVIE) Her wealthy upbringing allowed her to attend prestigious schools, including Chapin, a private school in Manhattan. It also allowed Vera to become involved in her passion, the sport of figure skating. Vera was a competitive figure skater until the age of 20, with the dream of becoming an Olympic skater. Unfortunately however, Vera failed to qualify for the 1968 Olympic team, calling it “heartbreaking”. (MOVIE) Moving past this disappointment, Vera enrolled in Sarah Lawrence College in New York. ...The data analysis is based on the journals, articles, books and websites I have used for the literature review. It gave me fascinating results. It is must to say that Sino-Indian relationship is based on powerful basics and there is a big potential as well to develop and strengthen the ties between the two. There is no doubt that India and China are both strongest countries in Asia in terms of Economy. Moreover both of them are developing at a rapid pace. The rest of the world has started to take these two countries seriously and the day might come when they will be the ones to drive the world. Even the economy is growing rapidly and with consistency. Both of them today are world’s fastest growing nations. In recent years, India and China are constantly on fourth and second leading economies respectively. They have left back other huge economies like few European countries and also countries like Japan, Russia, etc. The other fact is that both of them are world’s most populous countries, so it might be the case that in terms of per capita income they are at lower rank, but in terms of total GDP, they are constantly on the leading positions. These two countries are responsible for a big part of world’s total GDP. If we look at India, there is a huge number of people living below poverty line and also the basic needs are not available for the whole population, it is surprising that it still occupies its place in the world’s top five economies. It is the same case with China where...

... Extra Credit Jin and Yuan Literati Hagiographies of Daoist Quanzhen Masters By means of attending the extra credit lecture on April 12, 2013, the speaker Mark Halperin, Associate Professor of Chinese Literature, mainly talked about Jin and Yuan Literati Hagiographies of Daoist Quanzhen Masters. Since that, I have some basic ideas about the beginning of the Daoist as well as the development of the Daoist Quanzhen Masters. In particular, Quanzhe is the most important sect of the Daoist, and it was founded in the beginning of Jin Dynasty by Wang Zhe whose Daoist monastic name was Chongyang as well as who is one of prestigious Quanzhen masters. After Wang Chongyang accepted seven disciples, the Quanzhen was founded formally. These disciples were called Ma Yu, Tan Chuduan, Liu Chuxuan, Qiu Chuji, Wang Chuyi, Hao Datong, and Sun Buer. Qiu Chuji was the most prestigious and famous from seven disciples. He was the founder of the Dragon Gate sect of Taoism attracting the largest following in the streams of traditions flowing from the sects of the disciples. From The Legend of The Condor Heroes《射雕英雄傳》and The Return of the Condor Heroes《神雕俠侶》which was created by Jin Yong, Qiu Chuji was described as a highly skilled Taoist, this is why he was popular and well-known among Chinese people. In Chinese history, Qiu Chuji played as an important role to create positive effects on Chinese politics as well as Chinese society...

...tests are mediocre. They are not comparable to those Sages’ works. Also, as Cao writes, “Before he left, Jia Zheng had selected a hundred of these essays for him to read; but Bao-yu had only glanced at them occasionally, reading a paragraph here and a paragraph there as some particularly felicitous expression or the extravagance. He had never settled down to the serious analytical examination of even a single essay” (Cao, 147). In ancient China, the writing test for official selection is really vital, but Bao-yu seems to be reluctant on it. Bao-yu wants to be whom he is instead of imitate other people. Moving onto chapter 74, lots of things take place in this chapter. Wang Shan-bao and his wife are not happy with Skybright. So they decide to set up a trap in order to kick Skybright out of the House. As Wang Shan-Bao’s wife says, “The worst of the lot is that Skybright that works in Bao-yu’s room. Because she’s a bit better-looking than the others and a bit readier with her tongue, she goes around dolled up all the time like a Xi-shi, putting everyone else in their place. If you say the slightest little thing to offend her, up fly her eyebrows and she will begin telling...
