In the year of 1959 in Houston, Texas a child by the name of Vernon Wayne Howell was born by a 15 year old single mother. This child will be later know as one of the most influential cult leaders to effect social change, political change, and economic change in America! His father had gone on the run once he was born and Vernon ended up living with his grandparents. He was a troubled student who suffered from dyslexia and bullying throughout school and ended up dropping out of highschool during his junior year. Vernon later got caught up in an affair with the much older Lois Roden, the so called sixth angel from the book of revelations, and leader of the Branch Davidians. They would travel to Israel and european countries, studying religious practices followed by other cultures. Later Lois claimed to the cult followers that Vernon is the religions next prophet. By 1990 Vernon had become the leader of the Branch Davidians and had changed his name to “David Koresh”, with “Koresh” being known as a hebrew translation of “Cyrus”, who was a persian king who returned captivated jews return to Israel from Babylon.
