1. VETERANS DAY HOLIDAY. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War, then known as “the Great War.” Commemorated as Armistice Day in 1919, November 11th became a legal Federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars. Though the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, November 11 remained in the public imagination as the date that marked the end of the Great War. Strength is represented in their relentless efforts to improve their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. The families and caregivers of wounded warriors exhibit strength providing tireless support during their loved ones' recovery and reintegration - often at great personal expense. The Navy connects families and caregivers with critical resources, including Families Overcoming Under Stress, Navy child and youth programs, Military OneSource, the Joint Forces peer-to-peer program, and …show more content…

4. WINTER IS COMING! It is that time of year again – time to prepare for winter hazards “before” they occur to minimize impact. Seasonal outlooks do not project directly where and when snowstorms will occur, where they will have the greatest impact and total seasonal snowfall prior to the season. Snow forecasts are dependent upon the strength and track of winter storms (similar to hurricanes) and, generally, can not be predicted more than one week in advance. Prepare a winter disaster kit that includes a flashlight and extra batteries, battery powered Weather radio, 3 day supply of food and water per person, medicine, baby items, first aid supplies, sleeping blankets or extra blankets, and cash 4. This is the third component of the Federal government that I have been employed by and it is by far the most rewarding position I have held. As a disabled veteran, I am already appreciative of the dedication of the employees that helped me with my medical issues when I was going through my examinations and rehabilitation and some twelve years later I was able to join the ranks myself. What is most amazing about working at the Department of Veterans Affairs is that everyone that crosses our paths each day is a brother or sister of our military family. By conducting a SWOT analysis of my position at the Department of Veterans Affairs, I can give a better understanding of the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats to myself and those outside of my environment which gives an opinion of the employment. ...Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Research and Development Office of Technology Transfer Response to Presidential Memorandum: Accelerating Technology Transfer and Commercialization of Federal Research in Support of High-Growth Businesses 1. Executive Summary. Every year, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) researchers develop dozens of new health care-related technologies and other inventions that benefit VA’s patients, other Veterans, and all Americans. VA’s Technology Transfer Program (TTP) translates the results of VA employees’ discoveries into practice. The program educates VA inventors on their rights and obligations; evaluates inventions; obtains patents; and helps commercialize new products. VA’s program is different from other Federal technology transfer programs, because it is highly decentralized. More than 100 VA medical centers (VAMC) conduct research, and all are Federal Laboratories. In addition, 124 VAMCs have formal affiliations with academic institutions and hospitals, and many full- and part-time VA employees also have academic appointments or are employed at an affiliated academic institution or hospital. Because of these arrangements, most VA inventions are jointly owned by VA and its academic affiliates, making technology transfer a collaborative effort. In order to fulfill the goals of the President’s Memorandum dated October 28, 2011, requiring all Federal departments and agencies to accelerate technology transfer and support private sector...

These forces are represented  below: Porter’s Five Forces Threat of new entrants to consumer electronics industry is not significant due to cost and financial, knowledge and technological barriers. However, it is important to note that new businesses may overcome these barriers if they are able to introduce new products to the market based on innovative concepts. Large players such as Dell, Apple, HP, Samsung and Acer derive extensive benefits from the economies of scale and this fact represents an additional entry barrier to the consumer electronics industry. Bargaining power of buyers is immense due to the abundancy of offer and little differentiation amongst products. Moreover, there are usually no additional costs for Dell customers to switch to the competition and the majority...
