1. INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, the term “School violence” is not strange for many people. This is becoming a serious problem for many years and this phenomenon is not only decrease but rise everyday in many schools. Schools were considered to be safe in the previous era but due to this school violence they no longer remain a safe place. Though the cases of violence are quite rare but still a check is required.

2. WHAT IS “SCHOOL VIOLENCE”?
School violence is any form of violent activity or activities inside the school premises. It includes bullying, physical abuses, verbal abuses, brawl, shooting etc. Bullying and physical abuses are the most common forms of violence that is associated with school violence. However extreme cases such as shooting and murder have also been listed as school violence. For example: Columbine High School massacre in Colorado in 1999, Virginia Tech Massacre in 2007…
School violence starts out with the bully on the playground, or the pushing and shoving in the lunch line. Most of the fights were found as the “battle” of not only two individuals, in many cases, the ‘main actors’ in the fights were gangs and groups. Not only schoolboys, but schoolgirls also fight each other.

3. WHY DOES IT HAPPEN?

School violence isn't easy to understand. There is no single reason why students become violent. Most behaviors are learned responses to circumstances and situations that are exhibited in our everyday life. • Bullies inside the school premises. These bullies try to dominate and tame other students which could end up in a fight that could go overboard • Home life conditions are influences on all children. If a child grows up in a home where one of the parents is abused, whether verbally or physically, the child will take this as the norm. Studies have proven that a child living in an abusive home will himself become an abuser. • Violence on television is learned from a very early age with the watching of cartoons. These funny harmless half-hour shows that make us laugh are the first viewing of violence that our children see. What these shows are telling our children is that violence is ok. It makes them numb to the horror of the actual violence happening around them. • Friends have a major contribution as well. A good quality circle of friends will mean that the child is growing in a healthy environment and the chances of him being rude or arrogant are very less and thereby eliminating chances of school violence. However if the friends are bad then it would be very difficult for an adolescent child to develop a proper attitude. Hence such bad company of friends should be avoided by the child in order to ensure that he is never in the wrong path. • Music plays an even bigger role in the influencing of today' s youth with its violent lyrics and cult like following: MTV, rock concerts, and CD.
4. DIFFERENT TYPES OF VIOLENCE IN SCHOOLS

Some people don’t understand school violence clearly. They believe that school violence is only about a random incident of school shooting. But it is much beyond than that. The term school violence has much broader meaning than they think.
By now, we would have got a fair idea about the problem of school violence. Thus we must move forward and discuss about various types of school violence. Bullying, fighting and assaulting inside or outside the school premises, bringing drugs and other harmful components to the school, sexual harassment, vandalism, robbing or stealing, bringing handheld weapons and firearms inside the school premises, etc are some of the common types of school violence.
The most common types of school violence include bullying and fighting. Even the children of elementary schools indulge in such acts. This type of behavior is common among the children who have a habit of annoying or dominating other kids.
Another common type of school violence is stealing or possessing weapons. Students with illegal firearms have hurt and killed other students.
5. STATISTICS AND ATTITUDE ABOUT VIOLENCE IN SCHOOLS
Based on the information on the Internet, we have some interesting statistics: • 57% of public elementary and secondary school principals stated that one or more incidents of crime or violence were reported to the police • 10% of all public schools had one or more serious violent crimes (murder, rape, sexual battery, suicide, physical attack or fight with a weapon, or robbery) • The most reported crime was physical attacks or fights without a weapon • Most of the serious violent crimes occurred in the middle and high schools • A larger percentage of violent crimes occurred in city schools and in large schools (over 1000 students) - for more information on the benefits of smaller schools.

A small interview was conducted by our group and the interviewers are IU’s students. Those follow are their opinions:

• MV (school of BA): I do not like violence in schools. I don't understand what they think. What is young generation iconic? • LQ (school of EE): My feeling is worry. The actions are so heartbreaking. I don't understand why today many students get violent to prove yourself, most of them is girl. They come to attack someone bleeding abrasions only reasons which is very foolish such as they hate her or him, "she is more beautiful than me",....if they don't like something or hate someone, they will attack victim in the stress, in the class or in campus. It seems that they don't see that the path of violence leads to no where in addition to the bloody ends and damage to themselves. They have many ways to prove yourself, why they choose the way which decrease their position and hurt others? • HT (school of IT): My gut feeling is frightened. I really don't understand the teenager, they can openly carry with themselves and use what called " mudder weapon" , then they don't know there will be a day , they will be had your results caused. I am a 9x, I've seen so many "ugly" images in school: fight, billing experience, ...girls slapped her hair, scratched structure, ripped clothes... • XT (school of BT): I think it is a warning bell for the decline of moral values a part of youth. Many adolescents have the barbaric acts of violence to the extent of criminal liability. Don't find out measures to mitigate the current situation, their future will be gone, the country's future will be on the go.
6. CAUTION
When we search on with the key word “clip about school violence” on google, we can see many clip about school violence: • About the area: Based on the clothes, voice,…up to 80% clip happened in the north Viet Nam. • About the language: Students used impolite language. • About the places: The students can execute the violence behaviour everywhere: in the class, school-yard, in the street, park,…This proves that students today don’t scare anything.

We need to making the community aware of the level of the violence in school. When clip are arranged in time sequence, we can recognize the level of the school violence is increasing. At first, students just used the language to scoft together, then they used the violent action such as: give a thick ear, fighting,…Moreover, the school violence come to the savage and cruel level, from using violence to clear the urgent personal, multi gradually to other acts of humiliation and may be lead to murder.
7. SCHOOL VIOLENCE PREVENTION
For parents • Keep good communication between both parents and children. Encourage them to be more involved, whether it is friends, sports, or an after school program. It also never too early to start a serious discussion about drug use and alcohol. • Set clear standards for your children's behavior and be consistent about rules and discipline. • Try to limit children's exposure to violence in the home or community. • Take the initiative to make school and community safer

For students and youth • Maintain open communication with parents • Break the code of silence. • Stop and think before acting • Become involved in stopping school problems instead of being the cause of them
For the community • Support school initiatives that suspend or expel youth that commit violent acts. • Contact authorities when you see an underage child on the street during school hours.

8. CONCLUSION
There is no medicine available in the market that can bring down the violent nature of the students. It can only be done by adopting above measures and by giving love and affection to them by parents, teachers and their friends. Besides, schools do have their part in developing arrogant attitude in students. If the roles of each and every person are carried out with perfection and absolute responsibility then I am sure that school violence will not be an issue at hand in the next few years.

The Federal Government has made a committed to ensure school safety and reduce school violence.
