Poe's was best known “fiction works are Gothic (combination of both horror and romance), as this two poems are”. Poe’s themes and style of poems deals with questioning of death and lost love. He loved his wife “Virginia Eliza Clemm Poe”. The author’s wife Virginia died because of “tuberculosis”. In fact, both “The Raven” and “Annabel Lee” stories are about loss of his love, and the hoping of reuniting with her wife someday. Both of the stories deal with religious concepts of souls, angels and demons. These two stories illustrate Romanticism as symbolized by love, emotion, imagination. ...Worldview Assignment February 2, 2014 Part One: A worldview can be described as a summation of all our teachings, experiences and beliefs in this life and how this perception molds and defines our character for the role we play in this world. According to Gutierrez and Weider, it is a response to our heart or inner being; our intellect, emotion and will. It is the total framework that we bring to decision making. (59) A worldview can define our religious beliefs for example, which can ultimately decide how we practice our life. In Christianity for example, telling the truth is a commandment given by God that we are to uphold. This transcends every facet of our life, and what we practice. Whether at work, with friends, family or in our marriages the truth is an integral part that maintains these relationships and is encompassed and dictated by our worldview. Part Two: 1. The Question of Origin: Psalm 139 13:16 best answers “How did life begin?” Or “How did mankind come into existence?” This is again noted by Job in Job 8:10. These scriptures for the Christian worldview clearly describe how and when life began. God is our very creator and the one who breathed life into us in the secret place. 2. The Question of Identity: “What does it mean to be human?” or “Are humans more important than animals?” From the Christian worldview, God is eternal and we are a special creation of God. (67) Ps 8:5 reinforces that belief, stating that we were...

...to start the ascent of his new life, an epic journey which called him across the world discussing today's challenges and opportunities with the great minds of our past - Carl Jung, Mary Parker-Follett, Martin Luther King, Jr., Mohandas Gandhi, Albert Einstein, and many others. An act of their collective genius and magical combustion, a psychological and sociological theory for sustainability and success was formed. Like all heroic quests, Adam ended where he had begun. Prior to his expedition, Adam had an unforgettable encounter with one of the great minds of the 20th century. One freezing, early morning on January 17, 2009, Adam Jefferson met the famed Harvard psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They walked the beach in Winthrop for hours, discussing morality and the questions one ponders in the solitude of despair. They exchange woes - "You tell me yours, and I will tell you mine." Adam found an uncanny comfort in the company of misery. One hundred days after this encounter with Kohlberg, Adam returns - almost - home. As he crossed the bridge from Cambridge to Winthrop, he could see planes taking off and landing at Logan Airport, circling and cutting across the open space of Boston's harbor. This refreshing April morning stood like a bright, book-ending foil to the...

...active in state and local politics, and I began to develop an interest in politics myself. During this time, there was a particularly remarkable group of talented young people carving out a niche in the Obama administration and across politics more broadly. I began to see a role for myself in this space. Unfortunately, I was completely unqualified. The young people filling critical roles in the political sphere were invariably well-educated and in possession of impressive resumes, and I was not. So I came up with a plan. My plan had to be about more than just credentials. I had a lot of learning and growing to do as well. In this way, the plan I created was equal parts organic and calculated, designed to better myself while also crafting a narrative that would build social and political capital. In broad strokes, my plan was as follows. First, I would enlist in the Navy. Next, I would enroll in community college and earn an associate degree, hopefully with a 4.0 GPA and academic honors. Then, after serving for four years, I would transition out of the military to a high-quality four-year college. Finally, I would volunteer with a campaign during the 2020 election. While my plan may be simple and unoriginal, proper execution should provide a path to the career I want. I want to be clear that military service is never just a means to an end, it is always an end in itself. I chose to enlist in the military, and specifically the Navy, for several reasons. First and foremost, I needed...
