...VISUAL COMMUNICATION IN POLITICS Visual communication has been a main component of political communication. And, it importance has increased as television has become the major source of political information. It also known as idea that a visual message with text has a stronger power in persuades a person. Did you ever wonder why World War II propaganda posters so effective at manipulating popular opinion? This is because our human eye is always attracted to colored elements before black and white elements, and tends to visual before the text. Overall, research has shown that visual images are always more persuasive than spoken communication because it communicate in a way more easy to understand, more quickly and memorably. According to Dan (2015), experimental research in political communication has found that a single photograph of a candidate can influence voters’ judgments regarding that candidate’s demeanour, competence, leadership ability, attractiveness, likeableness, and integrity. Normally, politicians need media to get the exposure in order to win elections. Thus, some candidate with enough money will spend it on TV and print advertisements. And, it's not surprise to see that candidate’s family photos ‘accidentally’ spread around during the campaign. This may build a “kind” image by appearing with children and family members together. Moreover, the politicians also can use social networking software to get closer with their supporters and post news as...

Visual Communications

...Shelley Davis Visual Communications Monday, June 18, 2012 In order to promote goods using visual communications it is important to choose the right methods of communicating your message to your audience. I personally feel that the approaches that are most effective in making these communications a possibility are colors and shapes, cartoons and illustrations, and typography. Visual communication approaches like these make marketing and advertising easier and more competitive. Research has shown that people make judgments subconsciously about all sorts of things. Among these things are people, the environment, or product within ninety seconds of initial viewing and that between sixty two and ninety percent of that assessment is based on color and shapes. Catching the shopper’s eye and conveying information effectively are critical to successful sales. It has also been proven that color increases brand recognition by up to eighty percent. Shapes and colors improve reading and comprehension as well. There are many reasons why businesses use cartoons and illustrations in their marketing and advertising. When using cartoons and illustrations in marketing and advertising the characters and backgrounds are usually simple and use large shapes and contrasting colors so that the reader will capture the story right away without a lot of trouble. The advantage of these simplicities is that your message is identified by the reader very quickly and with little or, sometimes, no effort...

This kind of communication is an art that is inseparable from human beings and will remain applicable in their lives as long as they continue carrying out their activities. Different situations or scenarios demand application of different approaches of visual communication. It is therefore important for any visual communicator to employ these approaches accurately to enhance successful communication. In this work communication intended at giving a warning/caution message by the use of symbols and signs, shapes and colors, and images is discussed. The message will be to caution people on the hazards involved when one handles electricity or electrical products carelessly (Baldwin & Roberts, 2006). Signs and Symbols In order to deliver a caution or warning, one can practically use symbols or signs that deliver a message of danger. Such a symbol would be the use of a skull to warn of a possible electrocution. Shapes and Colors Warning can also be affected by the use of certain colors. Demonstrative Communication – a Visual Persuasion

...Demonstrative Communication – A Visual Persuasion Name BCOM 275 June 6, 2011 Instructor Abstract Demonstrative according to Oxford Dictionaries is a person that is unrestrained in showing feelings, especially those that are derived from affection (“Oxford Dictionaries,” 2011). Communication according to Oxford Dictionaries is “the imparting or exchange of information or news (“Oxford Dictionaries,” 2011). Taking both of these definitions into consideration when you combine the two words into the term “Demonstrative Communication” it leads me to the following definition and/or meaning: Demonstrative Communication – the exchange of information (feelings) in a non-verbal and/ or unwritten manner that allows another to understand what you are thinking via one’s facial expressions and/or body language. The remainder of this short report will focus on demonstrative communication from a descriptive perspective. In the paragraphs to follow this report will provide examples as to how demonstrative communication can be effective, ineffective, positive and negative for the sender as well as the receiver. This report will also give an explanation as to how demonstrative communication involves both listening and responding. The Growing Importance of Visual Communication in a Global Economy

...The Abstract This essay discusses the growing importance of visual communication in a global economy. This essay more specifically addresses and investigates the research question: “to what extent is visual communication becoming a profit enabler for companies acting in a global economy?” The research method used in this essay were questionnaires in which a number of anonymous p¬¬eople from different nations across the five continents (America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania) were asked personal questions about communication and their preferences in communicating with different people or machines. Articles and statistical data results from the Web and books in addition to anthropological data statistics that clearly validated the theory. The findings of the research showed that people, according to their ethnicity, cultural background and education, viewed the same message potentially in a different way. The results from the different questionnaires clearly showed that visual communication not only provided a quicker way for people to view and understand a message than text as it has a global understanding of a message, but it was also a global preference for most individuals to perceive a similar message. Thus the results of the findings can conclude that visual communication is efficient due to its possibility of communicating a message Internationally, and to its way of providing quick understanding. Marketing is about advertising, providing awareness to customers...

Visual communication can be best utilized in a classroom. Shapes and colors, charts and graphs, and cartoons and illustrations are examples of approaches to visual communication. Visuals of business progress or digress should be clearly communicated through any visual communication that relates to the operation of the business. Visual communication can be learned and is used at an early age. In this paper, the three different approaches to visual communication that I chose were TV & people, emails, and web design. I will be discussing why each approach is effective in communicating my message, and which approach I feel is the most effective. The first approach I am going to talk about is TV & people; the message is TV & people given alone with a visual (picture) of a man and his dog watching TV. When I saw that picture I automatically remembered that television as already stated is easy means of visual communication, because you can see what is happening. The second approach is emails the message is managing emails efficiency with a visual (picture) of a mailbox with a boy covered with a bunch of mail in different colors. Communication with Visuals

...Communicating With Visuals Aaron Mastro Visual Literacy in Business Instructor Jan Tucker August 11, 2014 In today’s business world, communication is of the utmost importance. How successful a message is communicated can mean the difference between luring customers and pushing them away. It could also be the difference between educating your workforce and them completely ignoring the message you are trying to share. Businesses use visuals in their advertising and also in their presentations that they share with their workforce. Using visuals to help communicate a message can improve the desired effect of having your message heard and understood. The greatest asset the United States Marine Corps has is its Marines. It is important that the leadership does everything they can to ensure the safety of each and every one of their Marines. This means that they need to educate the workforce on issues that pose a threat to their safety. One of these threats that pose one of the biggest risks to Marines safety is alcohol and drug abuse. The message I will be conveying is drug and alcohol prevention. The purpose of it is to pass knowledge on about the dangers of abusing alcohol and drugs as well as the repercussions if Marines are caught violating Marine Corps Orders and the law while under the influence of these substances. The desired result is to have Marines walk away with the knowledge of the dangers of these substances and the impact it could have on their lives and career...

In order to gain a better understanding, I will be providing you with tips and other useful information. The purpose of this memo is to discuss the proper use and integration of visual aids and designs in text. Visual Aids Visual aids can help you understand and reach objectives by providing visual emphasis on what is being said. They emphasize focal points and convey information using graphics to facilitate understanding. Psychologist Jerome Bruner of New York University notes in Power of Visual Communication (2004), “people remember ten percent of what they hear and twenty percent of what they read, but about eighty percent of what they see and do.” Visual aids are useful because they help you to be able to grasp your audience’s attention. Visual Communication and Graphic Design

...Visual Communication has proven to be far more effective than plain text. In today’s day and age of technology graphics are critical for successful presentations. One sure way in the development is to create the graphics first, then write or create the text around the graphics. Graphics generally fall under two criteria that must be achieved to be considered successful, and they mesh or complement each other. If the image or graphic communicates the right message, then it is more likely that it will be accepted. Then if accepted, the presentation of the message will be clear to the receptiveness of the targeted audience. It has been found that most clip art libraries do not contain the proper graphics for advertisement or newsletters, which causes a delay in the presentation. Also, to retain a captive audience the presentation should and must be pleasing to the audience and not to overwhelm them with too much or too many colors. The author or creator doesn’t want this to happen as it may affect the ability for the viewer to recall and associate the graphic and message at a later time. Many have interpreted visual communication as a fancy term for graphic design. I see it as a process of providing pictorial and written information to an intended audience. I see two important distinctions that separate visual communications and graphic design. The first is that visual communication is a “process,” that by its problem-solving nature includes investigative and analytical skills in...
