Many vitamins such as vitamins A, D, E, and K have recommended dietary

allowance because ingesting high doses of these vitamins can be toxic to the human

body. RDA was established for adequate and tolerable upper intake levels. Fat-soluble

vitamins include vitamins A, D, E, and K. Synthetic vitamins could often times be

missing micronutrients that we often obtain from food. But in today’s day and age a lot

more often times than not our food lacks the essential vitamins and minerals that our

body needs. Overall vitamins regulate metabolism, facilitate energy release, and play key

functions in bone tissue and synthesis. Excessive vitamin intake can harm your body

because you’re exceeding the recommended dietary allowance. The difference in harm

potential between fat-soluble and water soluble vitamins is fat soluble vitamins store in

your liver and other organs. It uses bile acids, fluids to help you absorb fat, and to hold

onto the nutrients for a long period of time. So taking excessive amounts can accumulate

at toxic levels and damage your organs. Water-soluble vitamins such as vitamin C are

easily absorbed by your body but can be very harmful as well. Excessive amounts of

water-soluble vitamins can cause kidney stones. Vitamin deficiencies can impair exercise

performance, if they aren’t getting the proper nutrition they can lack muscle stimulation,

energy transfer and release, and an increased risk of injury. As far as improving an

athletes performance drastically, you won’t be able to obtain that from vitamins.

Increased athletic performance comes mostly from genetics and muscle memory, the way

your body responds to certain skills and drills. Athletes need to be careful with mega

dosing vitamins because there can be harmful side effects. Athletes
