Vitamins are classified based on solubility, some are soluble in water known as water-soluble vitamins, while others are soluble in fat known as fat-soluble vitamins. Vitamins promote and regulate the body activities. Each vitamin has at least one important function. Some are needed for vision health, blood clotting, and bone health, some vitamins are needed for organ health and system function. (Grosvenor, 2012, Chapter 7).
