Vitamins are organic compounds, which are need for small reasons to live life. We get vitamins from food because the human body does not provide them or does not have enough of them. An organic compound contains carbon. When an organism cannot be produced, we will have to get it from food and that is call a vitamin.

Sometimes a vitamin may be only for humans not for some animals. For example, vitamin c is for humans but not for dogs because dogs can produce enough of their own needs.
However, simply a vitamin is both

There are currently 13 recognized vitamins and here are some.

Vitamin A
Chemical names retinol, retinal, and four carotenoids.
Fat-soluble.
It may cause night blindness and keratomalacia an eye disorder the causes in a dry cornea.
Sources liver, cod liver oil, carrot, broccoli, sweet potatoes, butter, kale, spinach, cantaloupe, melon, milk.
Vitamin B
Name thiamine water-soluble.
Sources yeast, pork, cereal grains, sunflower seeds, brown rice, whole grain rye, asparagus, kale, cauliflower, potatoes, oranges, liver, and eggs
Vitamin c
Name ascorbic acid
Water-soluble may cause mega loblastic anemia
Sources fruit and vegetables. The Cacadu plum came fruit have the highest vitamin C contents of all foods liver also has vitamin c.

Vitamin D
Fat-soluble.
May cause rickets.
Good sources produced in the skin after exposure to ultraviolet b light from sun or artificial sources. Found in fatty fish, eggs, beef, liver, and mushrooms.
