Abstract:

Vitreous cysts are a sufficiently uncommon ocular disorder to be considered an “ocular curiosity.” This condition has been seen to occur in younger patients of 6–8 years old , across the whole range of adults, although it is seen mostly from10 to 20 years of age. Here, we report a case of 54 years female presenting with decreased a single floater occasionally obscuring vision in her left eye since 15 days. She denies any history of diminution of vision, redness, trauma , flashes or past ocular surgery. She has no history of Diabetes ,hypertension or any other chronic illness for which she has been treated or is receiving treatment. BCVA is 6/6 in both eye. Intraocular pressure was 18 and 16 mmHg. BCVA is 6/6 in both eye. Intraocular pressure was 18 and 16 mmHg. Anterior segment findings were normal. Posterior segment evaluation under dilatation revealed a hyper pigmented cystic mass in the paradiscal area(Figure 1 and Figure 4) USG scan was performed which revealed cystic lesion(Figure 2). Investigations for parasitic cause were sent and rules out and patient was planned for LE CORE VITRECTOMY WITH CYST REMOVAL WITH BIOPSY(Figure 3). Post vitrectomy her BCVA was 6/6 and diagnosis of LE Viterous cyst was made.

CASE PRESENTATION

A 54-year-old woman was referred to the Eye Hospital because of floater in the left eye. She reported single shadow like projection in his left eye over the last 15 days , but had no problems with the right eye. The former can originate from remnants of the hyaloid artery or glial remnants of Bergmeister’s papilla,(1) although they are occasionally detected in normal eyes. These congenital vitreous cysts have been depicted as sessile or pedunculated pearl-gray cysts that are located anterior to the optic disc, and rarely they are limited in their movements by vitreous strands that are linked to the optic disc.(2) Acquired vitreous cysts have been described in patients affected by degenerative diseases, such as retinitis pigmentosa and choroidal atrophy, and have been reported to arise from degeneration of a ciliary adenoma breaking into the vitreous cavity, cystic growth at a site of a coloboma that enters the vitreous cavity, uveitis, toxoplasmosis (3),retinal detachment , retinoschisis , parasitic vitritis,(4) and nematode endophthalmitis.
