...YAHOO & APPLE Course Project HRM 587 Managing Organizational Change Professor Change management: Yahoo & Apple What was true more than two thousand years ago is just as true today. We live in a world where "business as usual" is change. New initiatives, project-based working, technology improvements, staying ahead of the competition, emerging stronger from the recession - together these drive changes to the way we work. (from A Sense of Urgency, by John P Kotter Published By Harvard Business Press, 2008) Today more than ever before, we can feel that we live in an era of risk and instability. Globalization, new technologies, and greater transparency have combined to upend the business environment and give many CEOs a deep sense of unease. The management structure of an organization as well as personal leadership style CEO’s and other senior leaders’ affects how individuals within a company make decisions and how quickly the company reacts to various challenges and opportunities. From basic definition of change we learned that the origin of the necessity of change lies in the dissatisfaction with the current state or the perception of a problem. The objectives, content, and process of change should be specified as part of the change management plan. Change management processes can benefit from creative marketing to enable communication between change audiences, and a deep social understanding about...

...Women equality has changes the society a lot. There are some good adjustments but at the same time there are changes that have alter society to the bad. Men generally were expected to have a more public role than women, and women were supposed to be devoted more to the private range, but this was not always how life worked. For instance, although the ideal was for the woman to be married and to devote herself to home and family, the reality was that a great many women had to work for a living. The ideal though for upper and middle class girls was to stay at home until they married, work was not viewed as essential to human happiness. Being good wives and mothers was viewed as the most valuable role for women. It was thought that a woman could have a very good influence on her family at home, even though the man was considered to be the head of the household. Women's power has increased over the years. From the mid 19th century more occupations opened up to women. Women now have their own jobs and their own money. This gives them more power in the home. It seems to me that women now make largely the same amount as men in the work place and in some cases, they make more. They have more opportunities than men, more women are graduating from collage with higher scores. It seems to me that the moment has achieved all of their...

...David Guest 10/5/11 English 10R Vocabulary #2 Blue Train There once was a blue train that is currently defunct(adj.), but in its prime, it was the most magnificent train ever built. The train could carry one hundred cars and two conductors. These conductors were proud men and would constantly banter(v.) to others about how they drove the best train in the United States. This train was so magnificent that it was even buoyant(adj.) and could float on water for as long as it wanted. All as long as most of the train's weight is commensurate(adj.) to or less than five tons. Some people thought that it was impossible until they saw it on YouTube. The men that conducted this train were also very convivial(adj.) and partied with their friends almost every night. Some people call them drunkards, but most use a euphemism(n.) and call them alcoholics. Due to this, most people were in distain(n.) when it came to their emotions towards the two conductors. Yet, because they conducted the best train in the United States and made a large amount of money from it, people were forced to admire their sumptuous(adj.) living standards. After one of their party nights, the main conductor woke up with a turgid(adj.) leg and arm. This was the day when they were supposed to cross the Atlantic Ocean in their train. The only problem was that his mind was so abstracted(adj.) that he could barely concentrate on what he was doing. He ended up falling asleep along with his...

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency concluded in January 1993 that each year ETS kills an estimated 3,000 adult nonsmokers from lung cancer and that the workplace is a significant source of ETS. In a recent study, nonsmoking employees exposed to ETS at work but not at home had significantly higher levels of a nicotine metabolite in their blood than did nonsmoking workers with no work or home exposure to ETS. Levels of exposure to ETS are lowest in smokefree workplaces. Even before these recent studies were available, the U.S. Surgeon General had determined in 1986 that ETS is a cause of disease, including lung cancer, in otherwise healthy nonsmokers. The Surgeon General also reported that the simple separation of smokers and nonsmokers within the same airspace may reduce, but does not eliminate, the exposure of nonsmokers to ETS. In 1991, the National Institute of Occupational...
