VULNERABILITY IN CRABBE BY WILLIAM BELL

In the novel, Crabbe by William bell literary devices is used to express Franklin Crabbe vulnerability in the scene where Crabbe debates his life choices while feeling lonely on a gloomy island. Bell effectively utilizes symbolism, mood/tone, and personification to highlight crabbers feelings of vulnerability in the scene. The first effective use of literacy device to enhance crabbers vulnerability is shown when Crabbe decides to rest, “I got up a headed for the tent and my down womb”(Bell 70-71)this shows symbolic because on one level the down womb represents his sleeping bag, but on another level it represents comfort and protection for children that are unable to protect them self in the early ages
