Dr. Wagner echoes some of the same concerns as Neil Postman in his 1993, book Technopoly: The Surrender of Culture to Technology. I guess this was the concern of some back in the early 1990's.
Perhaps in the early 1990's when technology was being introduced in the classroom, some educational institutions placed more emphasis on the technology rather than the course content and design in an effort to take the lead and credit for being the first to use the latest technology in the classroom, without exercising good judgement. However, I believe that this may not be the case today. Take for instance UMUC. I believe that the use of technology in the classroom has improved tremendously from when I first started a few years ago.
