What environmental commons do you see in this movie & article? Some environmental commons that are in the movie and article are land space, water, forests, and plants. How do invasive species impact native species (or environmental commons)? Invasive species impact native species because they take up all the space and resources from the land so the native species can’t grow, kill the native species that do grow, and What is Geologist Paul Zweng and his volunteers from the Nature Conservancy doing to prevent the commons of Waikane Valley Forest from disappearing? Explain using specific examples from the movie and article. They are preventing the commons of Waikane Valley Forest from disappearing by getting rid of invasive species by injecting them with herbicides, planting more native species, setting up traps for the invasive animals, and collecting native seeds and plants to grow. For example, Zweng is injecting invasive plants with herbicides so the trees die and collapse without inflicting too much damage on the forest. Zweng’s end goal is to have some of his forest returned to its natural state, before the arrival of invasive plants and animals that were brought by travelers.
