Are you ever tired when waking up for school?Maybe even enough to want to just not go? Of course you are, almost always to be exact. This is something that is quite normal for all teens to experience. Being tired and going to a place where you learn on an average of 7 hour a day doesn't seem like a good mixture and thats because its not. Some people may argue that its better to just get school over with, but it can affect the education you receive while at school. Waking up for school is someone that no one wants to do and it also has many negative effects on the students; such as a less active brain, incident caused from not having enough sleep, and affects on the physical body and not just mentally

First and most importantly a less active brain is something that's hard to live with, because it's one of the main causes of many injuries and things gone wrong because of sleep depression. 'Both the CDC and the pediatricians’ group cited significant risks that come with lack of sleep, including higher rates of obesity and depression and motor-vehicle accidents among teens as well as an overall lower quality of life.(www.Atlantic.com). Having later school times would reduce the risks of all of these problems. It would increase the amount of sleep received per night and would increase many of the factors to do with education for kids/teens. It can also help the teachers who teach the kids to be better at what they do. …show more content…
Falling asleep while doing many things can get you injured very easily, the best way to avoid this is to get more sleep or avoid driving early in the morning. "When schools have delayed the start of the school day, communities have seen reduced tardiness, sleeping in class, and car crash rates, as well as improved attendance, graduation rates, and standardized test

...and wise.” But does this apply to teenagers? Many students between the ages of 13-18 are not getting the sleep they need to be prepared for school. My claim is that all IB schools should start at 10 am. Research in the 1990’s shows that teenager’s tendency to stay up late and wake up later is biologically determined (sleepfoundation.org). If students naturally stay up late then how can they be expected to wake up as early as they do to get to school while still being able to focus? By simply pushing back school start times by 2 hours we can relieve stress on students and allow them to become better rested. Teenager’s sleep cycles vary from...

Personal Narrative: Waking Up To Public High School

...Waking up every morning with the same routine for 9 years was about to change. I had gone to a Catholic grade school my entire life until tenth grade when I began a public High School. Summer was over and I didn’t want the first day to come. Although I was excited for change I was anxious to see all the new faces and personalities I was about to run into. I had no friends going to my new school and I was so adapted to the same people, teachers, and 6 core classes that I had grown up with. Each day leading up to the first day I had so much doubt in myself. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to make friends and everyone already had a lunch table to sit at, unlike me. I was convinced that I was going to hate this change that was about to occur....

Why High School Should Start Later

...and body, however, this morning routine can be beneficial for high school students. Although some people believe that waking up later is better for high school students, early morning awakenings allow high schoolers to have more time to handle their responsibilities, gets them prepared for the future, and creates less struggles for school system employees. First of all, going to school early allows teens to have more time to get their responsibilities done. Why School Should Start Later

...Starting school later All middle schoolers and older teens in school should start school later than usual. There are people with a lot of homework the night before and other activities to do, and we miss breakfast when we don't have time to eat in the morning. The only problems with school I have is waking up early and if school started later, I wouldn't really have a problem with school. The first reason school should start late is because many teens have too many outside school activities to do in the afternoon that lead to them getting home late and not being able to do homework. When we come home we have to do homework, dinner, sports, study, and of course a bit of free time. All this leads us to sleeping late and having to wake up early....
