...Philosophy Research Waldorf Education History: According to my research, Rudolf Joseph Lorenz Steiner was born on February 25, 1861 and died on March 30, 1925. He was an Austrian philosopher, social reformer, architect, and esotericism. Steiner gained recognition and became respected and well-published scientific, literary, and philosophical scholar, particularly known for is work on Goethe's scientific writings. Also, He began to develop his earlier philosophical principles into an approach to methodical research of psychological and spiritual phenomena. After the I world war Rudolf Steiner was lecture his ideas for a society transformation, to workers factories in Germany. On April 23, 1919, he lectures for the workers of the Waldorf-Astoria cigarette factory in Stuttgart, Germany; in this lecture he mentioned the need for a new kind of comprehensive school. On the following day, the workers approached Herbert Hahn, one of Steiner's close co-workers, and asked him if their children could be given such a school. Independently of this request, the owner and managing director of the factory, Emil Molt, announced his decision to set up such a school for his factory workers' children to the company's Board of Directors and asked Steiner to be the school's pedagogical consultant. The name Waldorf thus comes from the factory which hosted the first school. In 1924 Steiner founded the General Anthroposophical Society, which today has branches throughout the...

...Lou, Sijia Professor Manly ENG 108 Feb, 26, 2011 Summary 1: Article In the article “What Are Friends For? Power and Pain” which was written be Alessandra Stanley, we can know that the author thinks in adults’ world friendship is more constant than romances, but this rule is not right in the youths. Young people pay more attention to love than friendships, so in young’s world the friendships are more variable than the romances. This concept is also right in the “Gossip Girl”. This TV show talked about the friendship, power, romance, gossip and fashion in the campus between the boys and girls. Some parents think this TV show isn’t suitable for their children, because the contents in “Gossip Girl” let their children grow faster to know the real society. But the Children didn’t agree. Even though the “Gossip Girl” is a soap opera and it is based on a popular book series, it not only put fashion and sex as its main point, but also reversed course and found a way saucily to make a virtue of vacuity and viciousness. Summary 2: TV show This TV show is from Gossip Girl season 4 Episode 2. Serena(S) and Blair (B) still stay at Paris and B get another chance from Prince Louis. But while B was getting ready for her perfect date, S was at Paris Morgue to make sure the people laid may or may not be Chuck Bass. Of course it wasn’t him. When S went back to tell B the whole sordid story B didn’t believe it for she just met Chuck minutes ago. Then S found her wayward stepbrother...

...The group in society I have decided to focus on for this internal are teenage girls/young women and how they are represented as sexualised/beautified to market a product to a viewer. Also how they are shown as promiscuous, beauty driven people who are obsessed with achieving physical “perfection” based on their favourite celebrities throughout the media. The three media texts I have chosen that I think best portray the idea of teenage girls and how they strive to be physically perfect are; the film ‘The House Bunny’ , the television show ‘Gossip Girl’ and the magazine ‘Cosmopolitan’. (Mainly the cover) My first example is the television series ‘Gossip Girl’ The first image is a photo from the March 2011 Cosmopolitan magazine of Blake Lively portraying her character Serena Van Der Woodsen in the T.V series ‘Gossip Girl’. Serena has been styled based on her character, beautiful and desirable (mostly due to her wealth and social status in the show). She has been dressed in entirely white, surrounded in a completely white background, this allows her skin to be the main aspect of focus, and it portrays perfectskin and skinniness. Most girls who see this aspire to imitate these images and may inspire feelings of failure when they do not achieve the exact image. Her lips in the picture are pouting making her look sexy and draws attention to her lips by also making them look glossy and shiny. Her face has been ‘retouched’ (or photoshoped) giving her a look of perfection and...

They were connected with a corridor, and changed the name to Waldorf-Astoria. Kemmons Wilson: started the Holiday Inn chain in the early 1950s. He wanted to build a chain of hotels fot the traveling family and later expanded his marketing plan to include business travellers. Wilson blazed a formidable path, innovating with amenities and high-rise architecture, including a successful round building concept featuring surprisingly functional pie-shaped rooms. He introduced the in-house Holidex central reservation system, which set the industry standard for both the volume of business it produced and the important by product data it...

...Key Philosophies The Rudolf Steiner curriculum recognises that children pass through the distinct development stages at which times specific forces are at work and capacities develop. The curriculum is designed to deliver the right stimulus at the right time, allowing each of the development stages to unfold fully. The goal for the Rudolf Steiner school is to prepare young children for not only school but the challenges of life also. Most Steiner ECE services don’t use written materials as they believe the focus on early childhood should be play and new experiences. Models of Provision Young children should stay in the ECE setting until they reach the age of 6 before progressing into a Rudolf Steiner school. Imagination, creativity and the arts feature highly in their programme. In New Zealand over 3,000 children attend Steiner schools or early childhood centres. There are three early childhood teaching groups: The Playgroup which ages from birth to 3 years old, Nursery which ages from two and a half to 3 or 4 years old and Kindergarten which ages from 3 to six years old. There are 6 playgroup sessions: Monday to friday mornings start at 9:30am and concluding with a story at 12pm. Baby group is wednesday afternoon from 12:30pm-2:30pm. ...Waldorf schools are private schools with one goal: to teach children not only academic lessons, but lifelong lessons that fulfill the meaning of respect and obedience, which is why I agree with the enrollment of Waldorf schools. I believe that the philosophy of the Waldorf schools is right. To support my opinion and viewpoint on the topic of Waldorf schools I will use 2 sources, the article,” Why Waldorf Schools Work.”, and the article,” A Silicon Valley that doesn’t compute.” To support my viewpoint on Waldorf schools. My first reason is that Waldorf students are more engaged, committed, and even more excited in school. In the article,” Why do Waldorf Schools Work.” It says,” Waldorf students are significantly more enthusiastic about learning,...

...Designing a program for the Ithaca Waldorf Students I designed a program last fall that gave me a personal example of the advantageous outcomes of experiential learning. I recently finished an internship at The Waldorf School, working with 4th, 5th, and 6th graders, where I lead games and initiatives and taught lessons in the classroom. In August, I started adding to the curriculum I had established with the school by coordinating a field trip for the students to climb at Cornell University. There were many logistics to make decisions on with The Waldorf School and Cornell Outdoor Education staff, and my biggest accomplishment was lowering the cost for the school by finding both a grant and volunteers to help belay and lead the activities. I planned to run more of an organized program than simply a time for bouldering and top-roping. For the first half an hour, we did some introductions, explained comfort, learning, and danger zones with an activity to better understand them, and assisted a few initiatives with trust falls. There was half an hour for lunch, which included free juice from the sponsor I found, Red Jacket Orchards, and half an hour for explaining rules, putting on equipment, and bouldering to find candy on the wall, something I thought would be a good sequence to top-roping. There was an hour for the three volunteers and me to belay the students while they climbed, and I ended with a demonstration of...

...The double life of Utopia: the skyscraper 1. the reproduction of the world Each plane of a skyscraper is considered as a virgin land, which the architects have no control over the specific programs. The skyscraper becomes the great metropolitan destablizer that promises perpetual programmatic instability. Considering that Manhattan is separated from the continent by two rivers at each side, which excludes the possibility of expansion, the skyscraper is the only choice for the growing business demand. The skyscrapers are seen as repetition/reproduction of the site/earth by Rem Koolhaas. The lobby of the skyscrapers accommodates social facilities such as shops and bars, which competes with the street and finally makes the surrounding streets deserted. Like the Unite de Marseilles, they have the ambition to become “a city within a city.” The Model of the 100 Stories Building The building is interrupted every 20th floor by public plazas that separate different functional sectors: industry at the bottom, business in the second quarter, living in the third and a hotel in the fourth. The 20th floor is a general market, the 40th a theater, the 60th a shopping district the 80th a hotel the 100th an amusement park, roof garden and swimming pool. And it has a temperature and atmosphere regulating system. The forthcoming model of the skyscraper is the combination of three attributes: 1.the reproduction of the site (seen in Flatiron Building). 2. The introduction of a tower (Metropolitan...

...The American Dream is a set of morals and ideals brought to American by the Puritans from England. These ideals have constantly been critiqued though poetry, film, and literature over time. Through the poems A Lone Striker by Robert Frost and Advertisement For The Waldorf Astoria by Langston Hughes and the film American Beauty by Sam Mendez, three main themes are prevalent. These being work, wealth, and nature/beauty. These themes all relate to each other and play a role in the discussion and reflection of the American Dream through the 3 texts. The importance of hard work is the foundation of the American Dream. The poem A Lone Striker shows us the need for employment in order to live, but how there is the contrasting feeling of longing to be somewhere else. This longing to leave the working life and retreat, is a reflection on the original ideas of the American Dream. “He knew another place, a wood, and in it, tall as trees, were cliffs; and if he stood on one of these, twould be among the tops of trees”. This phrase instantly gives us the imagery of the woods and nature in the surroundings. It is a contemplation of what the man in the poem could really be doing with his time, instead of waiting for his job. This phrase uses rhyme between the words “these” and “trees” and uses a reminiscent tone to convey a longing for the woods. In the same way, American Beauty, in the scene where Lester is at work, sitting at his desk taking a call. The tone of his voice while speaking...

...Dear Child Care Providers, We are planning for 2015’s Week of the Young Child event! This year’s theme is Our Youngest Learners: Infants & Toddlers. We would love to continue for child care providers, in the Aurora community, to be involved in this exciting day. We are asking providers to encourage their children to create a hands-on art project using a variety of materials and encouraging a design of their very own. If further direction is needed, you could focus on Spring-time activities like nature, flowers, birds, etc. We ask that the providers ask leading questions to stimulate thought about the child’s particular artwork, yet we ask that you refrain from giving any direction. This will add value to each child’s experience. Stepping back can give children an opportunity to showcase their unique abilities and talents! This hands-on project may be completed by using a variety of materials such as scissors, glue, poofy balls, construction paper, ribbon, fabrics, crayons, markers, paints, stickers, glue, etc. We recommend that the art project be child-led so the children can demonstrate their own unique level of creativity. Do keep in mind that there are some guidelines that must be followed in order for the art projects to be mounted on the walls. These guidelines consist of the artwork being light-weight and mountable with tape. If the artwork is too heavy, we cannot guarantee that the child will see their project the day of the event. Once the children have completed...

...Bloodlines of Illuminati by: Fritz Springmeier, 1995 Introduction: I am pleased & honored to present this book to those in the world who love the truth. This is a book for lovers of the Truth. This is a book for those who are already familiar with my past writings. An Illuminati Grand Master once said that the world is a stage and we are all actors. Of course this was not an original thought, but it certainly is a way of describing the Illuminati view of how the world works. The people of the world are an audience to which the Illuminati entertain with propaganda. Just one of the thousands of recent examples of this type of acting done for the public was President Bill Clinton’s 1995 State of the Union address. The speech was designed to push all of the warm fuzzy buttons of his listening audience that he could. All the green lights for acceptance were systematically pushed by the President’s speech with the help of a controlled congressional audience. The truth on the other hand doesn’t always tickle the ear and warm the ego of its listeners. The light of truth in this book will be too bright for some people who will want to return to the safe comfort of their darkness. I am not a conspiracy theorist. I deal with real facts, not theory. Some of the people I write about, I have met. Some of the people I expose are alive and very dangerous. The darkness has never liked the light. Yet, many of the secrets of the Illuminati are locked up tightly simply because secrecy is a way...
