War on Pollanites Based on the article "The means by which Junk Food Can End Obesity" by David H. Freedman, his theory is the way that the makers of junk-food and processed food are attempting to recreate their items with less fat and calories, and which may subsequently enhance our wellbeing, has finally been disputed and considered at great length. Freedman devotes half of his article attacking and ridiculing those whom he calls “Pollanites:” Freedman says that it is just hypocrisy when Mark Bittman discredits the country's fast food, then instructs us all how to broil corn in bacon grease on a national television show; he says that it is elitism when gourmet eaters in Los Angeles turn up their noses at KFC, then treat themselves to cornmeal-crusted eggplant parmesan at Café Gratitude. After all keeping our drinking water clean, supporting our local farmers, and helping stop global warming should not be cheaper than a microwave dinner. The large corporations and governments know exactly how to make money, so they know what to do and what not to do. If the massive fast-food organizations and other large junk-food corporations do not make changes in the way their food is made, the obesity rates are only going to keep climbing. Freedman also brought up one more point during his article, which is that fast food organizations are not willing to advertise that their new food is healthy for people because they are afraid people will stop eating it. I believe it is time to hold ourselves accountable and stop blaming the fast-food and junk-food industry for our choices, they should be responsible enough to let us know what is in the food and we should be responsible enough to decide whether to eat it or
