Was Joseph Stalin a hero or a heartless murderer? To some people, he was a hero, while to others he was a coldblooded slaughterer. Joseph’s time as dictator of the Soviet Union deeply impacted the whole world. By using force and installing fear into everyone around him, Joseph tried to achieve his goal to change the world. His time as dictator is now known as Stalin’s reign of terror. Joseph was born on December 18, 1878 in Gori, Georgia. Although he was born into a life of poverty, he never let that impede him. While attending school, Joseph was constantly bullied and treated inadequately. It did not help that Joseph had gotten smallpox as a child that left him with numerous scars on his face. When Joseph was 12, he was in a horse-drawn carriage accident. Consequently, one of his arms was considerably shorter than the other. Joseph was always really self-conscious of these flaws. Later in Joseph’s schooling, his mother wished him to become a priest. For a brief period, Joseph attended priest school, but he soon dropped out and never became a priest. Joseph did not return to school and instead began working. …show more content…
Meanwhile, at age 28, Joseph stole 250 000 rubles (approximately 3.4 million US dollars) from a bank to fund revolutionary activities he was a part of. Soon following that incident, he changed his birth name to Joseph Stalin which translates to mean “Man of Steel.” It was acknowledged that Joseph adored Western films. He even had his own personal translator to help him understand the films. That, however, was not the most surprising thing about Joseph. Writing poetry was one of Joseph’s pastimes. Under the pen name Soselo, Joseph published dozens of poems. After all the excitement of his early adult years, Joseph then overcame a countless number of hurdles and rose to become the dictator of the Soviet

Bio of Stalin

...Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili Ruthless and ambitious, Joseph Stalin grabbed control of the Soviet Union after the death of V.I. Lenin in 1924. As a member of the Bolshevik party, Joseph Stalin (his adopted name, meaning "Man of Steel") had an active role in Russia's October Revolution in 1917. He maneuvered his way up the communist party hierarchy, and in 1922 was named General Secretary of the Central Committee. By the end of the 1920s, Joseph Stalin had expelled his rival Leon Trotsky, consolidated power, and was the de facto dictator of the Soviet Union. In the 1930s Stalin executed his political enemies and started aggressive industrial and agricultural programs that were supposed to lead to miraculous improvements in production, but instead left untold thousands of peasants dead. During World War II, Joseph Stalin was the commander of the Soviet military, first making a non-aggression pact with Adolf Hitler (1939) and then joining the Allies after Germany invaded Russia in 1941.  Stalin attended the postwar conferences at Yalta, Teheran and Potsdam that determined the shape of the postwar world. He endured as maximum leader until his death in 1953; years later he was denounced by his successor, Nikita Khrushchev, and "Stalinism" was officially condemned.  Brief Bio Joseph Stalin (1878-1953) was the dictator of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) from 1929 to 1953. Under Stalin, the Soviet Union was transformed from a peasant society into an industrial and...

Propaganda In Joseph Stalin

...Joseph Stalin’s control over Russia is equated to the gain and loss of different economic and humanity-related aspects in Russian society, however, one loss in particular that his reign signified was that freedom was one thing that the Soviet people would live without. Despite the Soviet people’s lack of freedom, they rallied around Stalin and the Bolshevik party, thus creating a seemingly unified nation. The Soviet people, without any outward opposition, obeyed the state and devoted themselves to the Revolution and ideology that Joseph Stalin worked endlessly to impart within each citizen. The people of Russia were limited in every aspect of life. They could only read what the state allowed, see what the state allowed, and listen to what the...

Joseph Stalin's Flawful Deaths

...Joseph Stalin was the ruthless and unforgiving leader of Soviet Russia from the 1920s to 1953 when he died. The USSR had 56- 62 million “unnatural” deaths during his time as dictator. 49 million deaths were linked to Joseph Stalin. Anyone who against Joseph Stalin was killed within the month. During his youth, he robbed banks and killed people. He did not like independent people, only people who followed his orders. He treated his wife horribly which led to her committing suicide. He would kill as many people as he had to to get his way. After World War Two, he tried to rapidly better his nation's army in hopes of fighting the U.S. in a war. He once said, “One death is a tragedy, one million is a statistic.” Hitler was Chancellor...

Joseph Mccarthy And Communism

...Joseph McCarthy was a judge who was rebuked due to the fact that he destroyed court records and was later censured for violating a code that prevented sitting judges from running for non-judicial posts. In addition to that, McCarthy lied about being a “Tailgunner Joe” even though he spent more time in the military sitting at a desk than in combat. With his background provided, we can say that his accusations of communist infiltration in the U.S. government may be incorrect. During McCarthy’s career as a Senate he did little in his four years and didn't add his name to any significant bills; therefore, because of his lack of involvement, the Republican Party thought of him as a legislative lightweight. Near the end of his career, McCarthy claimed...

Jfk and the Cold War

...The Cold War (1945-1991) was basically an ideological standoff between the ideas of Communism supported by the Russians and Democracy/Capitalism supported by the Americans. Communism is a political ideology which has the central principle of ¡§communal or communist ownership¡¨ of all property and therefore the abolition of private property. Democracy is a form of government in which the people vote, have a representative government and via these representatives ¡§govern themselves¡¨. During the period between 1961 to 1963, Nikita S. Khrushchev represented Communism and ruled Russia, while John F. Kennedy embodied democracy and lead America. The two leaders differed in their foreign policies as is evident by the Berlin Wall incident and the Cuban missile crisis, but both were somewhat radical in their domestic policies. Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev was first secretary of the Soviet Communist party from 1953 to 1964 and effective leader of the USSR from 1956 (premier from 1958) to 1964. He was born on April 17th, 1894, in the village of Kalinovka, Kursk province. As a young boy, Khrushchev worked long hours in the coal mines. Khrushchev seemed to be a revolutionist from a young age as he organized several strikes and in 1918 he joined the Bolshevik party and fought in the Civil War. Afterward, he was sent by the party to a technical institute to learn more about Marxism. Khrushchev rose steadily up the party ladder, always combining his talents as an administrator with his...

World War 4

...The devastation of the Great War (as World War I was known at the time) had greatly destabilized Europe, and in many respects World War II grew out of issues left unresolved by that earlier conflict. In particular, political and economic instability in Germany, and lingering resentment over the harsh terms imposed by the Versailles Treaty, fueled the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist (Nazi) Party. After becoming Reich Chancellor in 1933, Hitler swiftly consolidated power, anointing himself Führer (supreme leader) in 1934. Obsessed with the idea of the superiority of the "pure" German race, which he called "Aryan," Hitler believed that war was the only way to gain the necessary "Lebensraum," or living space, for that race to expand. In the mid-1930s, he began the rearmament of Germany, secretly and in violation of the Versailles Treaty. After signing alliances with Italy and Japan against the Soviet Union, Hitler sent troops to occupy Austria in 1938 and the following year annexed Czechoslovakia. Hitler's open aggression went unchecked, as the United States and Soviet Union were concentrated on internal politics at the time, and neither France nor Britain (the two other nations most devastated by the Great War) were eager for confrontation. Outbreak of World War II (1939) In late August 1939, Hitler and Soviet leader Joseph Stalin signed the German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact, which incited a frenzy of worry in London and Paris. Hitler had long planned...

As a Leader, Is It Better to Be Feared, or Revered?

...As a leader, is it better to be feared, or revered? Lynn Dean Excelsior College Abstract With every generation of leaders, the ageless debate surfaces; as a leader, is it better to be feared or revered? Leadership attributes, skills, and styles are the driving forces to lead others to successful mission accomplishment. Good leadership is based on these fundamental, unchanging qualities, such as competence, character, and a profound sense of responsibility. Styles of leadership may vary over time or may evolve with changing circumstances, but these bedrock qualities are foundations of a leaders' substance. Profiling historic leaders shows how these qualities are embodied by these leaders. Even with these qualities being present in all successful leaders, they can still be perceived as either feared or revered. It stands in good contention that successful leaders, whether feared or revered possessed the same qualities. The differences in the perception, is in how the leaders deployed their leadership philosophies. Many leaders are revered by their followers, and feared by their enemies, as where other leaders are feared by their followers. Keywords: Leaders, leadership. As a Leader, is it Better to be Feared, or Revered? Machiavelli believed that a great leader should be feared rather than loved. A midstream conservative approach is to say that it’s better to be both loved and feared, but we know in all reality that this is a nearly unattainable...

Karl Marx Research Paper

...struggling a voice, with its “brief passionate conviction” and strong writing (Hobsbawm 10). Such words suggest how powerful the manifesto was, and how clever its ideas are. Marx introduced his style of communism in this pamphlet, and he would introduce ideas never seen before. Classifying the upper capitalist class as the bourgeoisie and the lower class as the proletariat, the book was started off with an introduction into how peaceful the feudal society was. Marx described how the rich wanted to end safe situations; by innovating. Relentlessly promoting urban environments, industrializing small towns, and destroying small businesses were just a few ways how the bourgeoisie were a threat to the poor. All they wanted was profit, money, and speeding up towards the future. Poor families lost their sources of...

Hitler - a Re-Visit

...(April 20, 1889 - ????) was the Undisputed Champion of the Art of Ranting. He also had Jewish ancestry, and, rather ironically, was blamed for a mass killing-off of Jews in Europe. They were Jewish, how much more of a reason would you like? He was one of the 20th Century's most misunderstood political revisionists. Many see him as a overweight, perverted, sexually deprived, gay, racist, homophobic, Jew-in-denial, highly functioning autistic. Others see him as humanity's last hope to cleanse the world of the greatest cause of debt on the planet. According to das Juden, during his holiday in Germany, Hitler had a party (complete with fully catered bar-b-que), the members of who were six million , called the Holocaust. In fact, he was a sensitive hero who tried to save the undeserving Jews from the racist Germans that he, an Austrian, loved so much. Hitler was a genius. He was the one who saved Germany from the Great Depression. Among his inventions were the Autobahn system, the Volkswagen cars, the V2 superweapons (in fact the first ballistic missiles in the world), and so on. He also planned to renovate Berlin into a utopia called Welthauptstadt Germania. Up to today, he still holds the high score in IRL Risk. He was undefeated until he went up against fellow sociopathic asshat Joseph Stalin, although Americunts like to think they had something to do with it. He broke new strategic ground with his Blitzkrieg tactics, which effectively meant that he was in your nation, killing...

...A religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence.[note 1] Many religions have narratives, symbols, and sacred histories that aim to explain the meaning of life, the origin of life, or the Universe. From their beliefs about the cosmos and human nature, people may derive morality, ethics, religious laws or a preferred lifestyle. Many religions may have organized behaviors, clergy, a definition of what constitutes adherence or membership, holy places, and scriptures. The practice of a religion may include rituals, sermons, commemoration or veneration (of a deity, gods, or goddesses), sacrifices, festivals, feasts, trances, initiations, funerary services, matrimonial services, meditation, prayer, music, art, dance, public service, or other aspects of human culture. Religions may also contain mythology.[1] The word religion is sometimes used interchangeably with faith or set of duties;[2] however, in the words of Émile Durkheim, religion differs from private belief in that it is "something eminently social".[3] A global 2012 poll reports 59% of the world's population as "religious" and 36% as not religious, including 13% who are atheists, with a 9% decrease in religious belief from 2005.[4] On average, women are "more religious" than men.[5] Some people follow multiple religions or multiple religious principles at the same time, regardless of whether or not the religious principles they follow traditionally...

Realism

...Realism of the 20th century was peculiar with the influence of modernism and psychologism. However, it was characterized by its attention to details, as well as its attempt to recreate reality as it was, without any decorative language. It tried to reproduce the most detail and objective life of Great Britain before and after World Wars. Realism represented the social life and paid much attention to domestic problems. Its representatives showed tragic vision of life using satire and dark humour, but still their vision of life is much more optimistic than the modernistic one. Talking about their characters, they were social types depicted in their everyday life dealing with their virtues, morals, profession, relationships, worldview etc. Narrative form used by realists is characterized by several narrative characters in order to create an objective vision of life. The most prominent among the writers who continued the traditions of realism were: J. Galsworthy, A. Bennett, H. Wells, B. Shaw; and their followers R. Aldington, G. Orwell, J. Priestley, and E. Waugh. The Novel is certainly the most important literary form of the period. The realistic novel is represented by such novelistic forms as: the social and social-psychological novel (J. Galsworthy, E. Waugh, R. Aldington) the social-domestic novel (A. Bennett, H. Wells) the comic or satirical novel (E. Waugh) family chronicle or epic cycle (J. Galsworthy) science fiction (H. Wells). Despite all this...
