...Introduction The Cuban Missile Crisis originated because of a number of different issues, stemming from the ongoing struggle between The United States of America and The Soviet Union and between Capitalism and Communism. There were various events and circumstances which caused this standoff. Firstly, the decision to place missiles on Cuban soil was taken by the Soviets as a means to offset their strategic inferiority. The second main cause was the fact that America felt threatened by a Castro lead Communist Cuba. Their continued efforts to oust Castro, was a significant factor in creating a very real fear in Castro of a US invasion of Cuba. This led him to form strong bonds with the Soviets and subsequently allowing them to place missiles in Cuba. We also look at Americas failed attempt to remove Castro with their ‘Bay of Pigs’, invasion of Cuba, in 1961. A final factor in the cause of the crisis is the possibility of the Soviets using the missiles as a means of strengthening their power, with regards to negotiating with America in matters outside of Cuba. The first aspect to look at when dealing with this question is Soviet insecurity and strategic inferiority with the US. The Soviets had many reasons to feel insecure or threatened in the period directly preceding the Cuban Missile Crisis. Descriptive Research Research can be explained as a process that gathers data to answer questions. Research is used in many applications to obtain knowledge and across many disciplines and industries. It can become the cornerstone for developing new concepts or products, treatments and cures, safety, policy and strategies, or even used simply to answer a question and provide information for decisions. Four types of research are: descriptive, correlational, experimental, and action. Descriptive Research Descriptive research uses tools such as “tests, surveys, interviews and observations to describe the status of characteristics of a situation or phenomenon” (Eggen & Kauchak, 2010, p. 15). Educators often use tests to answer achievement questions and assess instructional programs. Tests can also be used to compare external programs to obtain baseline measures of similarities and differences. Surveys can assess attitudes and feelings about programs or specific educational approaches. The results are used to shape program enhancements or changes to current practices. This paper attempts to trace the shifting coordinates of India’s position at the WTO. By focussing on three specific areas of negotiations, namely agriculture, services and TRIPS, the paper presents a theoretical analysis of how India’s stance at the WTO has evolved over time and whether it reflects any paradigm shift. In the light of international relations theory we argue that although the coordinates of India’s stance at the WTO have shifted over time, the underlying ‘neorealist’ position adopted by India remains by and large unaltered. ...Case Study School Aged Child Assessment Report The following assessment case study describes a 7 year-old girl in the second grade presenting with academic difficulties. Reason for Referral Amy, was referred by her mother, Stella, for a cognitive and educational assessment. Stella referred her in the context of Amy appearing to learn at a slower pace than her peers and her apparent word finding difficulties. An initial interview with Stella was carried out on 03/08/2015, and Amy was first seen on 05/08/2015 for assessment. Three forms of assessment were administered to Amy: Cognitive (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children: Fourth Edition; WISC-IV), educational (Wechsler Individual Achievement Test: Second Edition; WIAT-II), and memory and learning (Children’s Memory Scale; CMS). Amy was assessed over three sessions and a fourth session was organised with Amy’s parents to provide them with feedback regarding the assessments. Presenting Problem Based on information gathered from school reports, Stella, and Amy’s teacher, Amy appeared to display a slow work pace and distractibility. She is disorganised with her room, gets lost with instructions and often has difficulty finding the correct word to communicate what she would like to say. Amy is able to mask her word finding difficulties by stating a definition of the word or an alternative word.
