...CECC Evaluation as We Care Foundation Board Member Susan Miller University Of Phoenix BSHS 451 Program Design and Proposal Writing Linda N. Latham, MFT October 26, 2010 CECC Evaluation as We Care Foundation Board Member We Care Foundation is in receipt of the grant request for the amount of $5,000. Whereas some of the guidelines for such a request have been followed, there are a few areas that need clarification before We Care can submit funds to the organization. The first item needed is a proof of tax-exempt status as a 501(c) (3) organization. According to the grant proposal policy set up by We Care Foundation for all funds proposals, requests cannot be accepted for capital expenditures, tuition, scholarships, fundraising drives, emergency relief, or endowments. In the budget breakdown section of the proposal, we request a more detailed breakdown in the areas of non-personal and educational equipment. As noted on our request guideline we do not fund any capital expenditures and, we need more clarification on these costs before we can accept the proposal. Credibility The credibility of CECC is also a question that needs to be answered with more clarification. CECC has been around for six years and that is quite an accomplishment. However, are there any other awards or recognitions that CECC may have received after the award from CDBG in 1994? The type of service provided by CECC correlates...

...Courteney Lodato McKenzie Wohlfarth Famine in Africa English 102 Baker College Famine in Africa Does music have the ability to impact listeners socially? Yes, music impacts listeners socially by adding meaning and themes to their lyrics. Artists can write music about anything that they want, which can include social issues around the world. Music that includes social issues can inspire people and give them the motivation to try and do something about the issue. “We Are The World”, by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie, impacted listeners because it addressed very real issues that the African continent was experiencing. Specifically, the lyrics bring awareness of hunger and poverty as results of the drought. In the 1980’s the continent of Africa was going through troubling times. The continents population was projecting at shocking numbers, degrading ecologically, and plummeting into debt. A rapidly growing population is a long term problem that is faced by any continent that can not sustain a good quality of life. The rate of death in Africa slowed, and the fertility rate increased. The average amount of children per mother is estimated at 6.2. Couples are getting married at younger ages which is slowly raising the statistic. The physical resources in Africa in the 1980’s where degrading due to eroding soil, falling water tables, and dying forests. With no land there is no food to grow, starving the population. In order to grow crops however one is required to have money...

...Everything around us makes us the way we are. The tiniest thing can affect our personalities. Generally speaking, we are like clay figures that can be easily shaped by the lightest touch. However, there are millions of factors that made me the person I am today. Some losses, coupled with wins, taught me that life needs to go down so it can go up one day. While there are many things that made me the way I am today, my parents, love and loss are the biggest factors that influenced me. My parents weren’t tough on me, even though back then I didn’t think so. Now, when I look back, I see how much they trusted me and prayed for me to make the right decisions. Despite their worries, I proved myself as a responsible person. Because my parents were easy on me I developed a good judgement regarding issues that appeared in my way. I came from a small country in Eastern Europe, Latvia. Latvians are not the most warmed hearted people on this planet, we differ a lot from the American culture. There were never a lot of emotions involved in my family, in fact I don’t remember using “I love you” that much, but I never doubted my parents love for me. Today I’m still very reserved with saying out loud my feelings, but I really want to change myself for my own children one day. I am getting better and since I am so far from my parents, we actually have started to say that to each other more. Few years before I left to the United States two close people to me died, my father and grandmother. Both...

...going to be the precious time for each of us. We may have some hard times with our family, we fight with each other, argue to one another, insult, or even punch each other; but when it comes to love, our family has an endless love for us. Without them we may be a different person, because they are the one that make us who we are now. According to Goodman, basically she said that even though we argue with each other but we also take for each other. She also mentioned there is two parts of us in our family, which is the “we” and the “I”. We are all “raised in families … to be individuals” (Goodman, 4). They taught us everything, how to survive in this cruel world. We always come back to our family in the hardest moment of our lives, and surprisingly they will not bring us down. We make mistakes and some people will not forgive us, but family will. Once I read: Boyfriend, Girlfriend, and Friend all of them has an “end” but family has “ily” which means “I love you” and we should believe in that, nobody will treat us as good as our family will ever do. Furthermore, the “we” and the “I” are really obvious. The “we” is when we are together, for example on holiday when we eat together, laugh together, just having a moment of our life. We “ruthlessly compete with each other” but yet we work together that is what family for. We learn together, we kindly tell each other how to become the good “I”. When we become the “I” outside our family, we work alone. It will show you how well your...

...young people must be taught to read and write. How incredible it is that in this fragile existence, we should hate and destroy one another. There are possibilities enough for all who will abandon mastery; others to pursue mastery over nature. There is world enough for all to seek their happiness in their own way. We have discovered that every child who learns, and every man who finds work, and every sick body that is made whole – like a candle added to an altar – brightens the hope of all the faithful. So let us reject any among us, who seek to reopen old wounds, and rekindle old hatreds. They stand in the way of a seeking nation. Let us join reason to faith and action to experience, to transform our unity of interest into a unity of purpose. To achieve change without hatred; not without difference of opinion but without the deep and abiding divisions which scar the union for generations. Under the covenant of justice, liberty and union, we have become a nation. And we have kept our freedom. It is the excitement of becoming – always becoming, trying, probing, resting, and trying again but always gaining. If we fail now, then we will have forgotten in abundance what we learned in hardship; that democracy rests on faith, that freedom asks more that it gives. If we succeeded, it will not be because of what we have, but it will be because of what we are; not because of what we own, but rather...

...“We Are Marshall” Reason for Choice of Movie The selection of film, I have chosen, is based upon my infatuation with the very intriguing storyline it offers. At first, one may believe that the storyline is nothing more than another movie concerning football. However, the storyline offers a combination of a beloved American sport, along with touching accounts of the lives of each main character, as they dealt with grief and despair independently. Most importantly, the storyline depicts the perseverance of one man who strived for perfection, even when everyone else neither believed in him nor shared his vision. “We are Marshall” correlates with the textbook as, the manner in which individuals adapt to difficult challenges vary from person to person. However, in order to achieve a true state of resiliency, one must allow the stages of grieving to be a fluid process. Finally, “We are Marshall” shows the actions of one, can lead to changes which positively impinge upon many. Summary of Movie “We are Marshall” is based upon a true story that occurred on November 14, 1970. “We are Marshall” begins with a plane crash that kills 75 members of the football team, including players, coaches, and fans. One can imagine how such a devastating event would impact the Marshall University community. Therefore, university President Donald Demond along with influential community members, decided in the best interest of the university, to discontinue the football program...

...you hurt somebody. Wash your hands before you eat. Flush. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you. Live a balanced life. Learn some and think some and draw some and paint and sing and dance and play and work everyday. Take a nap every afternoon. When you go out in the world, watch for traffic, hold hands, and stick together. Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the plastic cup? The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why. We are like that. And then remember that book about Dick and Jane and the first word you learned, the biggest word of all: LOOK! Everything you need to know is there somewhere: The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation, ecology, and politics and the sane living. Think of what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about 3 o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankets for a nap. Or we had a basic policy in our nation and other nations to always put things back where we found them and clean up our own messes. And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out in the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together....

In his lifetime, he has received 20 Grammy nominations and has won 10 Grammy awards. George Benson is known for playing his Ibanez guitar and his method of playing, which uses a rest-stroke picking technique, is similar to players of gypsy jazz. He performed at top places all over the world, and packed them all. His audiences were rich and poor, made up of all races, all religions and all nationalities. ...Venice Jiezzelle C. Nesperos D-3R Sailing Nature Have you tried sailing? Going with the wind, being dependent with just one factor for you to have direction in the middle of the sea and have no powers to fight for yourself against the strong current of water. Imagine that you are the nature that is going to save by selling it. Selling nature to save it is like risking the nature to the effects of human activities, allow capitalists to dominate with the business and the nature has no powers to act what its feeling when we are disturbing it. Not only the effect of these activities to nature is going to be factor to disagree with selling nature to save it but also the effect of this activities to the nature surroundings. For example, the effects of the modification of the nature to be able to transform it to a nice place are: some species may be disturbed in their habitat when doing the modification or when people are visiting resulting to the decrease of species in that area or occupying other habitat; some people are undisciplined disobeying the signs in the area resulting in damage nature; people living nearby the nature to be modify would likely to be remove in their places making them to live in an area such as urban. Lastly, anything you do has its corresponding karma in the future so, what you will do right now in our nature can result into a degrading nature and if you will invest money for something your mindset will be return that money with interest....

...as autism, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s, epilepsy, and various anxiety disorders wrapped into one. In this paper, I will discuss what exactly Rett Syndrome is, who discovered it, how he discovered it, what its causes are, what the symptoms are, the disorder’s course, and possible treatments for the disorder. Said Dr. Rett at a conference regarding the disorder which bears his name: These three words summarize best our task: To live, to love, and to learn. We are aware of the fact that many mysteries of this syndrome still remain undisclosed, and therefore, for the time being, we have no option but to live with it. However, the children with their very special ways give us enough impulse to share their lives. It is a further mystery of this syndrome that the affected children render it easy for us to love them. A dominating factor in the care of such children is that they understand us and we understand them. Their appearance and the sparkle in their eyes make it easy to love them. Daily care for them and working with them gives us grownups strength, enabling us to learn the special treatment required, thus furthering our own development. To live with them, to love them and to learn from them are the rudimentary principles of our work. (Hunter) The disorder is named after Austrian pediatrician, Dr. Andreas Rett. One day in 1954, he “observed these children making the same repetitive hand-washing motions. Curious, he compared their clinical and...

...Bone It was on my volition and indeed I alone will suffer. It seemed so right for me to accept for I cannot bear the thought of my brother leaving his other half. I knew better. It was the only way I could save us. We were orphans yet royals. I knew I was stepping in the enemy’s territory, I knew I submitted to what they wanted, I knew. I knew. I have to save them. One Year Earlier “Are you ready yet your highness?” I heard Linda, my personal maid said as she opened the door of my now former room. “Linda, don’t call me that, you know very well you’re not entitled to that anymore.” I snapped at her as I pull my long black hair into a ponytail. I kept my hair long for royalty purposes but now I have to keep them long for personal reasons. “Please your highness, yours is the only royal family here. I vow to respect you forever as long as I live even after that.” She was blabbing. “Linda you don’t need to. My brother and I are practically being thrown out today. And the new royal family will be settled here in no time then you will have resumed your duties by then.” I said with full composure trying to hide the pain that was. My brother, Howard, and I will go to exile. Even though we are the true offspring bone of the royals of the country, we didn’t have the power to protect ourselves from harm. The family who will sit now was the family of the prime minister. It was the prime minister’s plan all along. His family didn’t even have a royal blood let alone a royal...

...what any administration or what our Armed Forces has done, so far, to achieve peace and development in the country. I would not throw you any unnecessary info nor will I be presenting to you thorough analysis of data based on comprehensive research. But, instead, I’m simply gonna tell you how ROTC has changed my views and how these views, in my own personal opinion, can help in our search for an ultimate peace and a satisfactory socio-economic development status. The question at hand is “How can ROTC help in the peace and development efforts,” but, should we not be asking WHAT? What we, the youth, whether we be cadets or just ordinary students, can do to contribute to this national undertaking. From my learnings as a cadet... let me suggest three Steps: First BE AWARE. Second BELIEVE. And Third ACT. From here we can derive our roles as the future leaders of this nation. It might be a cliché, but let me say again that WE ARE THE HOPE OF THE MOTHERLAND. In our hands lies the future of our country. It is for this reason that institutions of higher learning were established (for us) in the belief that knowledge can save us all. But mere knowledge is never enough for a person to achieve his goals because his CHARACTER – the way he interacts with his surroundings, his perspective, his beliefs and stand on individual matters, the way he performs his tasks and even his physical capabilities and proficiency – carries a lot greater gravity on to where his life will lead. (This being)The...
