...Our current traditional method of web development occupies most of our web developers time towards tedious coding. Through my research, I have found that our company could be saving more than a million dollars by implementing WordPress over the next 3 years. I believe 75% of the work being done by our web developers could be done more efficiently using this platform. By implementing WordPress, our current processes of developing will be more efficient and easier to adapt to future technologies. This adoption will greatly reduce the amount of time our developers waste on coding, which will cover for the initial investment of this platform. WordPress has limitless functionality and it is free. The user is free to do whatever they like with the WordPress code. They can extend it or modify it to fit their needs or they can use it for commercial projects without any licensing fees. Another great feature that improves developer’s efficiency is the workflow. There can be different types of users that can only post drafts not publish to the front page. Having different roles for users such as administrator, editor, or author, allows users to collaborate but also adds restrictions to what they can and cannot do. There are up to ten levels of different users having different privileges with regards to publishing, editing and other options. Another key feature in WordPress is its compatibility. This platform is compatible with multiple browsers, and its compliance with W3C standards...

...Technology Bhopal, India Abstract-- When an internet user interacts in web environment by surfing the Net, sending electronic mail messages and participating in online forums lot of data is generated which may have user’s private information. If this information is captured by third party tools and techniques; it may cause a breach in end user privacy. In the Web environment, end user privacy is one of the most controversial legal issues. In this paper issues related to information leakage through SQL injection attacks are presented and protection mechanisms are also discussed. Keywords: - Privacy, Security, Code Injection, SQL Injection, web application security, Malicious Code, Vulnerability. I. INTRODUCTION As the Internet is growing day by day, most of the people are not aware of security and privacy. Internet is a widespread information infrastructure; it is basically an insecure channel for exchanging information. Web security is the set of rules and measures taken against web security threats. Web privacy is the ability of hiding end user’s information. Nowadays most of the applications have the vulnerability (weakness) that makes a threat possible. An attack may be possible due to poor design, configuration mistakes, or poor written code of the web application. A threat can be harmful for database, control of web application, and other components of web application, that are needed to be protected from all types of threat. All types...

...Abstract—The tremendous growth in popularity of smartphones has been closely matched by increased efforts to harness their potential. This has lead to the development of powerful mobile operating systems that provide novel programming platforms for the creation of rich mobile applications. To support these new paradigms, developers are now asked to spend considerable effort in replicating functionality, usually already available in web applications, for the native applications. In this paper, we observe that web applications closely simulate the design of native applications and the web origin can act as a more reliable authentication identifier for third-party application content. We consequently argue in favor of using web applications as the default for mobile platforms and propose a practical approach to extend web applications with native applicationlike capabilities. Central to our approach is a browser-based permission model that effectively manages permissions both at install time and at runtime, and supports dynamic user policies. We discuss security and non-security challenges of realizing this approach. The rapid growth of mobile computing and increasing adoption of smartphones has resulted in the evolution of rich mobile platforms, such as Android and iOS. While these platforms derive much of the functionality from traditional desktop operating systems, they also introduce security mechanisms to satisfy the new requirements imposed by the mobile ...

...Abstract Language on Top of XACML for Web Services Security aDepartment of Computer Science and Mathematics, Lebanese American University, Beirut, Lebanon b Department of Computer Engineering, Khalifa University of Science, Technology & Research, Abu Dhabi, UAE CDepartment of Computer Science, Kuwait University, Kuwait b Azzam Mourada, Hadi Otrok , Hamdi YahyaouiC and Lama Baajoura Abstract-We introduce in this paper an abstract language on top of XACML (eXtensible Access Control Markup Language) for web services security. It is based on the automatic generation of XACML security policies from abstract XACML profile(s). Our proposed approach allows first to specify the XACML profiles, which are then translated using our intended compiler into XACML security policies. The main contributions of our approach are: (1) Describing dynamic security policies using an abstract and user friendly profile language on top of XACML, (2) generating automatically the the XACML policies and (3) separating the business and security concerns of composite web services, and hence developing them separately. Our solution address the problems related to the complexity and difficulty of specifying security policies in XACML and other standard languages. We tested the feasibility of our approach by developing the library system (LB) that is composed of several Web services and applying/realizing our approach to enforce security. Keywords. Web Services Security; XACML; Security Policies;...

...Socio-cultural Issues Perhaps the most enriching and obvious societal change influenced by the web is education. The Internet is a library of infinite knowledge, and like all knowledge, some can help us and some can hurt us. Although there are numerous beneficial effects that the web has on education, I will address three: research, interactivity, and advancement. Research Having a virtual library with the ease and convenience of the Internet, students can be more efficient, resourceful, and creative in their schoolwork and research. Schoolwork can be submitted legibly by electronic mail, saving paper, time, and difficulty. The mere understandable, clear, and consistent typography of electronic media is a benefit in itself. Marshall McLuhan, author of Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man, explains that typographic extensions brought man universal literacy and education (McLuhan 235). Furthermore, primary and secondary research can be conducted through the web. A student can interview a foreigner or visit the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian, the White House Archives, and libraries from all over the world, traveling to places their circumstances might prevent. I know personally that when I was in high school, research on the Internet was almost mandatory. Most schools were taking a proactive approach to the integration of technology in the education system. Teachers would research and find articles from the Internet to incorporate into the lesson for the day...

...Web Software Applications Quality Attributes Jeff Offutt Information & Software Engineering George Mason University Fairfax, VA 22030 USA http://www.ise.gmu.edu/~ofut/ Abstract In only four or five years, the World Wide Web has changed from a static collection of HTML web pages to a dynamic engine that powers e-commerce, collaborative work, and distribution of information and entertainment. These exciting changes have been fueled by changes in software technology, the software development process, and how software is deployed. Although the word “heterogeneous” is commonly used to describe web software, we might easily forget to notice in how many ways it can be applied. In fact, the synonymous term “diverse” is more general and familiar, and may be more appropriate. Web software applications use diverse types of hardware, they include a diverse collection of types of implementation languages (including traditional programs, HTML, interpreted scripts, and databases), they are composed of software written in diverse languages, and they are built by collections of people with very diverse sets of skills. Although these changes in how web applications are built are interesting and fascinating, one of the most unique aspects of web software applications is in terms of the needs they must satisfy. Web applications have very high requirements for a number of quality attributes. Some of these quality attributes have been important in other (mostly relatively small) segments of the...

Examples are also included throughout and contain explanations of how they are used. WSDL, SOAP and UDDI roles will be explained as well along with what exactly each of them has to do with the significance of Web services. Web Services Web Service, software that is used to change protocols into web site applications. This is what is known as the basic development of different applications used for business and internet users around the world. Web servers control the applications while using the web set up that helps with the contact. Web servers are very important due to the simple fact that they provide tools for the application of code which then is able to implement and maintain any and all applications that are provided. On the other hand the Web Service architecture is also very important for web services such as data delivery, standard protocols along with the registration of the Web Services. In order to have proficient web service the user has to register with the Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI). UDDI can help companies produce and enlarge their name, in other words other companies, businesses and people can find out about and get to know the business. ...New Paradigm for Web Services Mike Amundsen mca@mamund.com amundsen.com, inc. ABSTRACT The ecosystem of services on the Web continues to grow and evolve while, at the same time, the number and diversity of connected devices increases; challenges lie ahead for both providers and consumers of Web services. This paper is presented as a ‘what-if’ proposal; an alternate paradigm for dealing with an increasingly heterogeneous network. Drawing from diverse sources including physical architecture, industrial design, the psychology of perception, and cross-cultural mono-myth, a new implementation paradigm is proposed to help software architects and developers meet these challenges; one that invites participants to shift their mental model from that of programming network devices to programming the network to which those devices are connected. To accomplish this goal an “affordance-rich message” is proposed; one that is based on shared understanding through network-oriented affordances instead of device-oriented APIs. A working model based on this approach is offered, examples given, and areas of related work identified.
