...Week 2 Assignment Dianglio V. Baylor September 9, 2014 Week 2 Assignment The film that I selected for this week’s assignment is 2007 film “Knocked Up”. The film starred actors Seth Rogen, Katherine Heigi, Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann and Jason Segel. The genre of this film is considered to be a romantic comedy. Romantic comedies are considered to be the least flexible of all the genres of film. There are a number of reasons that have been identified as reasons that this genre is lacking. The plot of a romantic comedy involves romance that leads to comic situations. In recent years the film genre has been identified genericly with a female protagonist finding love against all odds with a course of unconventional comic situations along the way. There can also be a variation of the basic plotline, instead of the typical romance where the two lead characters end up falling in love there could be a mismatch in love affair with the primary character and a secondary character. In the romantic comedy genre one of the reasons cited is that the scope of what this genre seeks to accomplish is limited. According to the textbook the romantic comedy is limited in scope of what it attempts to accomplish – brining two people together. There are many ways for this to happen, and many comedic obstacles to be placed before them , but the goal remains the same (Goodykoontz, B. & Jacobs C. P. 2011). The struggle that is present within this genre is for a romantic...

...I will use it when telling stories, planning activities, and picking books for the children. I will also use this new knowledge to help me educate my daughter at home. Which assignment challenged you the most, and in what ways? I found the Week 2 assignment to be the most challenging because I really thought I understood the assignment but I had to re-read and do it over again. I also, found the picturebook assignment challenging because in storybook you are only allowed the pictures that the give you after you pick one. I tried to have the people represent the duck in my story because I didn’t want to use that one “Duck” picture for the whole book. It was just frustrating! I feel like I’m not getting anything right in this course. I’m really depressed about this! Discuss the assignments you found the most interesting or engaging, and explain why you felt this way. I really enjoyed putting the picturebook together because I tried to make it child friendly and also have it rhyme. It was fun putting it together and also seeing that the children loved hearing the story over and over. Again, I didn’t get this assignment...

...Week 2 Assignment Wednesday oct 8, 2014 1.What is professionalism? Professionalism describes the qualities, skills, competence and behaviors expected of individuals belonging to any given profession. Professionalism in the workplace is based on many factors, including how you dress; carry yourself, your attitude and how you interact with others. The definition of professionalism indicates that each person perform their tasks with genuine earnest and honesty. It refers to a person doing his / her job with sincerity, and maintaining professional etiquette and ethics in the workplace. 2.Why is goal setting important? Setting goals is a fundamental component to long-term success. The basic reason for this is that you can’t get where you are trying to go until you clearly define where that is. Goals help you focus and allocate your time and resources efficiently, and they can keep you motivated when you feel like giving up. Furthermore, setting and achieving goals translates to feelings of success for both individuals and companies, which in turn spurs greater productivity and confidence. 3.What are Ways of teamwork in the physician’s office? Developing an effective and highly functional staff that puts practice performance first, though, is easier said than done. To a large degree, that’s because medical practices are comprised of a small group of people who work together but perform very different roles. As practice administrator, you can encourage teamwork by modeling good...

...MAT 221 Ashford University Instructor: Professor January 27, 2011 In this paper I will be figuring out the intervals of people with my height for their BMI. I will be using my height and weight for the following intervals: 17<BMI<=22 23<BMI<=25 25<BMI<=30 BMI>30 First I will solve the following interval: 17<BMI<22. This is called an equivalent inequality. In order to plug in the proper information I will be using the following formula: 703W/H^2. 17<703W/H^2<22 17<703W/65^2<22 H^2 has been replaced with my height in inches. 17<703W/4225<22 My next step is to multiply all three terms by the denominator. 17(4225)<703(4225)W/4225<22(4225) 71825<703W<92950 Multiplication done 71825/703<703W/703<92950/703 Now I am going to divide by 703 in order to isolate w. 102.1<w<132.2 Division completed. According to the formula people with the height 65 inches and weight between 102.1 and 132.2 are more than likely not overweight. In the next interval, I am going to figure the weight for people who are not overweight and are 65 inches tall. 23<703W/4225<25 23(4225)<703(4225)W/4225<25(4225) My next step will be multiplying all three terms by the denominator. 97175<703W<105625 Multiplication complete 97175/703<703W/703<105625/703 Now I am going to divide all three terms by 703 in order to isolate w. 138.22<w<150.24 Division completed. ...Strayer university | Assignment 1: The Business Environment | Business and the Economy | BUS100Demetrius Carolina | Malcolm Johnson | 2/4/2013 | | | The business environment has grown tremendously in the past century. It has become a vast outlet for many to start their own, in this essay I will explain the role, advantages and disadvantages of business in the economy The Role of Business in the economy is the main component because our economy is capitalistic. Business is in every sector of the market. Everything that is thought of that relates the economy is business. For example retail, services, agriculture, manufacturing, health care, even political campaigning all involves business. Without business, humans would have to completely fend for themselves for absolutely everything. This is why people create trade with each other. Instead of having to provide ourselves with everything, we can focus on producing one product or expertise. We can then specialize in that product or expertise to make it the best in the market and then sell it for a profit. In business the Factors of Production or natural Resources which includes all in puts that offer value in their natural state, such as land, fresh water, wind, and mineral deposits. ...Kelsey Malcom Chapter End Q & A Chapter 14 14.2- Real Property Issue ------------------------------------------------- Is the oral contract between Briggs and Sackett in violation and voidable under the Statute of Frauds? In Briggs v. Sackett, Briggs bought a home under mortgage but came upon unforeseeable financial instability. The Briggs then spoke with their in-laws, the Sacketts, about purchasing the home with the conditions that they pay the 3 months arrearages or the overdue balance on the loan and take over the expenses of the home (future payments, utilities, etc.). After hearing the offer, the Sacketts accepted the Briggs’ conditions for the purchase of the home and an oral contract was put in motion. The Sacketts moved in. Years later Mr. Briggs filed an action under the Statute of Frauds, that the oral contract they made with the Sacketts was voidable because it was in violation of the Statute of Frauds (Briggs v. Sackett, 1980). Per our book, under the Statute of Frauds, contracts that involve the sale of real estate are required to be in writing. Generally, if an oral contract was made but required to be in writing, under the Statute of Frauds the oral contract would be unenforceable (Cheeseman, 2010, p.220). In the case of Briggs v. Sackett, should Briggs’ action of filing with the court to void their oral contract and evict the Sackett family be enforceable? No, the Sackett family should be considered an exception to the rule, an equity...

...What is the result of your IAT? The results of my test were “Your data suggest little to no automatic preference between African American and European American.” Do you think the test produced valid results in your case? I honestly do agree that the test is correct. I grew up in a mixed neighborhood and just as everywhere else in society there are some good kids and some bad ones, neither leaning towards any particular race or skin tone. The associations the test provided were a great means of determining on a sub-conscious level what an individual’s thoughts are. Much like a Freudian Slip where you say one thing while meaning another. In your opinion, is it difficult to accurately measure prejudice? Why? I find that so long as the one measuring the prejudice is objective to all forms of prejudice, or they are not affected by it, than yes it is possible but very difficult. For the average person that seems to hold some form of prejudice or another it would be much more difficult. No one can know what they are doing wrong if no one tells them after-all. Describe other measurements sociologists utilize to calculate prejudice. I did not read anything specifically referring to measuring prejudice but the textbook did cover measuring discrimination, which I would assume is measured much the same way. Though in a normal environment where there is a timid bigot he may not openly discriminating he will be less likely or work harder to stop minorities...

...Ethics in Strategic Plans Todd Balzer MGT/498 28 October 2013 Debra Grisamer Write a 700- to 900-word paper in which you do the following: Explain the role of ethics and social responsibility in developing a strategic plan while considering stakeholder needs and agendas. Ethics in Strategic Plans When developing a strategic plan with social responsibility in mind, organizations have two separate viewpoints. One view is of Milton Friedman’s with a laissez-faire approach. This approach was a popular viewpoint in from his first publication in the 1950’s and was an economic advisor to Ronald Reagan, and is one of the most influential economists of the 20th Century. Friedman’s theory is that corporations should only act in the best interests of their shareholders. To do otherwise is actually counter-productive to the organization and the overall economy. An example is corporations heavily investing in the neighborhoods in which they operate. Freedman would argue that investment takes money away from the shareholders, or reinvestment into the organization, and is counter-productive to the overall success of the organization. Freedman would also argue what is bad for the success of the organization is also negatively affects the overall economy both locally and the macro level. The money invested in the organization could go to shareholders who in turn would invest into the economy on a larger scale and ultimately help the same neighborhoods, people,...

Born Michael King, Jr. on January 15, 1929, King was the son of a reverend and a former teacher. The future activist was skeptical about Christianity from an early age. Despite his doubts about his own faith, King went on to graduate from Crozer Theological Seminary and became a Baptist minister when he was twenty-five, practicing public speaking skills that would eventually make him one of America's greatest orators. By the same time, King was working as an executive committee member for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Having grown up in a segregated environment, King was already aware of the disparity in civil rights for African Americans. He took a stand against segregation in 1955, by leading the first nonviolent Negro demonstration - a bus boycott that resulted in a law that prevented segregation on public transportation. The next year, King was elected president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and began to write and deliver speeches across the United States and the world. While he took the ideals for his organization and mission from...

...Week 8 Assignment 2 Clifton Bland Professor Hughes BUS 325 March 1, 2015 Introduction Human resource management refers to the exercise or function through which an organization will be able to maximize the productivity of its employees through set strategic objectives. Human resource management determines the motivation that employees of an organization have to work at the employing organization. Therefore, it is important for an organization to perform quality human resource management right from the recruitment of an individual to the retirement of the individual. In the case that an organization mistreats its employees, the employees will not perform to their maximum potential thereby reducing the productivity of the organization and by extension, the organizations profit margins (Hurn, 2007).
