...Week 2 Assignment Monica Callis, Week 2 Assignment The four functions of management can be affected by internal and external factors such as globalization, technology, innovation, diversity, and ethics. The functions of management are not immune to these factors no matter how big or small the organization. Even an organization as large and complex as Apple is affected by these factors. Globalization Globalization has become a key factor for large corporations to excel above the competition. Who would have thought that the production of a computer being made in a garage in 1976 would have emerged into sales being over $750 million by 1982 shortly following Apple being incorporated in 1977? Globalization had to be a major influence to Apple’s revenue. It is known that globalization brings greater opportunity to a broader market while promoting competitors that will require a superior level of competence for any organization that will take advantage of it. Apple has made great profit by globalizing their company. Annual reports show that international sales take the lead in bringing in sales and are continuing to rise which is the result of good management. From my understanding, Apple had been trying to market Korea with their products for a long time since Korean market for the Cellular phone and mp3 market had been rising rapidly. The iPhone was the only phone that could not get into Korean market. They had studied the audience and the market very well and finally...

...Currently, I approach weekly course reading material in a fairly unconventional way. My weekdays are usually incredibly hectic between my job of working with my clients and my day to day personal life with my children, so finding any quality reading time is hard during the day time hours. I generally have all reading material downloaded to my laptop in advance as we all should so I can get in a bit of reading time during my break time and my clients nap time. The problem with this is, even though it is quiet and my break time, there is still quite a bit of activity going on around me having to deal with small odds and ends, breaking any concentration I have and understanding of the text. I do get a small amount of time in peace when I get home and right before the kids get home after school in which I use to get in some reading and study time. This time is definitely quality time as my concentration is at its greatest and I can get something done. The night hours, usually after dinner, is where things have been really difficult as this is the time where the bulk of my study and reading time is. Thankfully my fiancée has begun to rectify this problem for me (when he is home from work himself) by keeping the kids busy with various things and away from me during this time so I can actually get quite a bit done in peace and...

...Auditing, Attestation, and Assurance Services Thing 1, Thing 2, Thing 3 ACC/491 February 25, 2013 Professor Thing Auditing, Attestation, and Assurance Services In the early part of the 1960s, research scientists, as part of the Advanced Research Projects Agency, generated the concept that it was possible to create a globally interconnected collection of computers. Through this experiment, it was envisioned that everyone who could would be able to access data and programs quickly from any site (Elon University, 2013). Flashing forward to the world of today only five decades later, today’s world lives the benefits of these early visionaries. The database available for use by decision makers gives easy access to vast amounts of raw or filtered information. Access doors are computers, once filling a warehouse facility to do simple calculations, today available with unlimited information in a device smaller than an average hand. Amidst this quickly expanding information, available through the Internet and through other sources, the need is substantial for the reliability, the credibility, timeliness, and the relevance of the data. The better the quality of the information, the better off management, investors, and the agencies that regulate them are to make more informed decisions. The roles played by auditing, attestation, and assurance services help bridge the credibility and timeliness...

...top-level logic, you can design each individual process. This step-wise refinement process allows you to conceptualize a vague problem into increasing levels of details to actually generate a working program. This point is important because the step-wise refinement process is used throughout the entire program development—each new piece of information is based on, and is a refinement of, the information uncovered in the previous step. For this week’s CheckPoint, you will refine the IPO table into a complete design, as demonstrated on pp. 80 & 83 in Ch. 2 of Prelude to Programming. Additionally, refer also to the Input and Output Process Example in Appendix B to see how more detailed analysis and design relates to the previously constructed IPO chart. The following information demonstrates all the items you need to develop your programming assignments and the final project. Analysis Process: 1. Get user input. 2. Find the room...

...When working in teams it may be difficult at times to produce output due to conflicts that may arise. A common reason for conflict in team settings is when there is lack of trust between team members. When a disagreement or miscommunication occurs within the team, this is the point where an alternative dispute resolution should be administered to resolve these issues among learning team members. Alternative dispute resolutions are various processes that can be used to litigate an issue. Some of the areas of alternate dispute resolution consist of negotiation, mediation and arbitration. In a learning team setting, the best alternative dispute resolution to use is mediation because it allows the team members to give their opinions and interact with others more efficiently. When it comes to mediation, team members will have the opportunity to tell their side of the issue and others will be able to pinpoint the problem, gather ideas and come up with a solution. In a team setting there are many reasons why mediation may be needed. Mediation will help the personality conflicts within the team, miscommunication between team members, equal workloads and time constraints on projects. In a team setting the process leading to the use of an alternate dispute resolution always begins with a problem. Once the problem is identified, an attempt to try and fix the problem through discussion should follow and this is when it will be discovered that the issue is in need of an alternate dispute...

Form and write a working definition of hydraulic fracturing that demonstrates familiarity with how hydraulic fracturing is actually performed; distinguish gas and oil fracturing (25-50 words). Show where hydraulic fracturing is currently underway in the United States; in Europe; and in South America. (25-50 words) With the rising needs of fuel shale gas has become very important energy source to the United States. “Hydraulic fracturing refers to the procedure of cracking fractures in rocks and rock formations by injecting a mixture of sand and water into the cracks to force underground to open further. The larger fissures allow more oil and gas to flow out of the formation and into the well bore, from where it can be extracted. Hydraulic fracturing has resulted in many oil and gas wells attaining a state of economic viability, due to the level of extraction that can be reached.” http://www.investopedia.com/terms/h/hydraulic-fracturing.asp Oil actually refers to any viscous liquid that is not soluble in either water or alcohol.
