The choice of a research design is often dictated with the nature of the problem being explored. In addition, the amount of knowledge already available in a certain field also dictates the research design. This is because qualitative research can be used to gather primary knowledge before carrying on quantitative research which is used to explore more specific and complex problems. It is safe to say that qualitative information can help to formulate a hypothesis to be tested in quantitative research.

In any business, qualitative research is mostly used to study human behavior and consumer trends. In this particular case, the researchers were attempting to determine the differences in buying behavior between customers of vehicles in China, Japan, and Western countries. The methods used to gather information were interviews and questionnaires that featured many open-ended questions. The information gathered through these means was such that it was almost impossible to express it in numerical form.

The hypothesis formulated by the researchers was whether culture plays a role in the buying decision when looking for a car. The analysis of the information gathered entailed looking at a response and recording a yes or no response. The conclusion was drawn after aggregating the responses from each country. The researchers found that culture plays an important role in Asian countries when buying a car because people want to save face.

Quantitative research involves the exploration of more specific problems for which numeric data may be collected. For instance, researchers in the paper were tracking the demand for cur flower over 12 months. The data collection of sales data from auctions in the international market. Further,

...Disney Movies are more than entertainment; they are a piece of pop culture that generations of children will remember forever. It all started in 1937 when Disney released its first feature length film, Snow White. To date, Disney has released more than 300 films. Each generation will have its own memory of their favorite Disney movies. For instance, any child born in the last 15 years will remember Toy Story. It was released in 1995 and followed by Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3. Disney really made an impact on kids with Toy Story. It was a wonderful story about a boy and the friendship between his two toys, a lovable, stuffed cowboy named Woody (voice by Tom Hanks), and an astronaut toy named Buzz Light-year (voice by Tim Allen). Today, Toy Story and the characters are a big part of Disneyland Amusement Parks. There are Toy Story rides that excite kids of all ages. It seems with every Disney movie launch there are mass toy sales and fast food restaurants selling “Happy Meals’ with Disney movie character toys. It is almost impossible to avoid the media and advertising explosion after a Disney movie release. What is nice about Disney movies is that parents can feel good about their kids watching them because Disney represents “wholesome.” A parent can be assured that the content of the movie will be age appropriate for their child. Disney movies are an icon in American pop culture. What Disney movie do you remember the...

...AMANDA BALL WEEK 3 Islam vs Hinduism While religious denominations tend to share many things in common, the difference between Islam and Hinduism starts with their respective origins, and goes all the way through to beliefs and practices. In the desert of Arabia, there were kinds of people who were ready to revolt against the traditional religious beliefs of the time. Once the prophet Muhammad received his divine revelations, Islam was formed, developed, and taught. Hinduism began as more of what could be called a ‘coming together’ of various belief systems. At the time, the subcontinent of India was a destination of many wanderers, the exiled, the seekers, and of course, the prophetic. There are much greater ties to Jewish and Christian beliefs in Hinduism, than can be found in Islam. One can find many vast differences in the founding principles of each denomination. Islam is formed from a sense of activism, a need to rush out and find the world, teach those in the world of Islamic faith and tradition, and embrace the humanity in which it resides. Hinduism is based on principles of patient listening, tolerance for those who are different in faith, and the strong belief that, in given time, there will be an awakening of the people. This awakening will bring the people to Hinduism. Religious denominations have been historically named to define either their location of origin, or the...

...When it comes to matters of thermodynamics, which is the study of energy and it’s transformations, there are two laws that apply to everything in the universe. These laws, known as the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics, describe the flow of energy throughout an ecosystem, and also how the process of transferring energy provides the means to sustain life within it. The rainforest is a very complex ecosystem that contains many different species of animals, insects, plants, and trees. The 1st law states that an organism can not create the energy it needs to survive on it’s own and therefore must capture it from it’s surrounding environment, i.e., photosynthesis. During this process, solar energy from the sun absorbs into the plant and vegetation population, converting the chemical energy into sugar. Insects and animals in turn eat the plants, and then use that very same sugar as an energy source to power their movement. This is called biological work. The energy remaining is given off as heat and released back into the environment from which it originated. This ensures that the amount of energy present in the environment is always the same, as it is borrowed and returned, but never lost. The 2nd law simply states that the amount of energy that can be used to do biological work within the universe may decrease over time, however because it is both borrowed and returned, the total amount of energy present will not decrease, and therefore will always be the same. The rainforest...

If you were the owner of a small chemical company, what concerns would you have about joining Elemica? If I was a owner of a small chemical company the concerns I would have about joining Elemica is mainly request. Since I would be a small company there are going to be buyers that are going to place large quantity orders which we don’t know how we are going to respond to it. Elemica claims to provide a community for participants in which they can transact, coordinate, and cooperate to produce products for less. ...Growth Realization Alternatives Distinguishing one's firm from the alternatives is a major concern for any business. Strategic analysis provides the starting point in the strategic management process organizations use to evaluate and choose the competitive advantages that distinguish them from other organizations within the market. Dominating businesses should also "choose among alternative grand strategies to guide the firm's activities, particularly when they are trying to decide about broadening the scope of the firm's activities beyond its core business (Robinson & Pearce, 2009)." What Companies Must Consider to Realize Growth Firms must consider many strategies when attempting to realize growth. Depending upon the stage of evolution the business is experiencing these strategies can change.
