For this assignment, I have chosen Dr. Gregory House from the TV series “ House”. In this particular show, Dr. House provides diagnostic medical treatments for patients. Dr. House has an extensive history of hardships in relationships with family and personal relationships. He has an extensive prescription drug habit that started earlier in his life and helped lead to the demise and failure of his marriage. In his profession as a doctor he is disliked by many for his mannerisms, demeanor and to some his lack of ethical practice. My biggest health concern which was confirmed from my doctor is to watch my cholesterol and my sodium intake. I thought I was doing a great job at that, and infact my cholesterol is under the recomomneded amount. So I am very happy about that. However I was 1240mg over the recommended Sodium intake which is horrible for me. I was really surprised by that. Today I never thought about making a salad or eating fruit, so I got a frown and meet 0% of recommended intake. 3. How can being aware of your daily food intake help you achieve healthy eating habits? I wrote above how shocked that I was over my Sodium which my doctor said I have to cut back sodium not eat more of it. So seeing that in the chart is a good thing for me. Today I didn’t even think about eating fruit or vegetables and this reminded me that I have to. This also lets me know what I need to eat more of or cut back so that I can stay healthy. ...¬ DNA is o¬ne of the nucleic acids, information-containing molecules in the cell. DNA is found in the nucleus of every human cell. The information in DNA guides the cell in making new proteins that determine all of our biological traits. DNA is passed or copied from one generation to the next. The key to all of these functions is found in the molecular structure of DNA. Although it may look complicated, the DNA in a cell is really just a pattern made up of four different parts called nucleotides. Imagine a set of blocks that has only four shapes, or an alphabet that has only four letters. DNA is a long string of these blocks or letters. Each nucleotide consists of a sugar bound on one side to a phosphate group and bound on the other side to a nitrogenous base. These are connected in a double helix shape. The separation between phenotype and genotype is the knowledge and understanding of an organism’s development and heredity. When we talk about the genotype of an organism, it just means the class to which that organism belongs. This is mainly determined by the material that is passed on to the organisms from its parents. The phenotype is the process of determining which class an organism belongs to by the description of physical and behavioral characteristics. The difference of the two is made by the separation of casual pathways that lead to the way to information of organisms between successive...

...Organizational Change & Leadership from a Systems Perspective Joshua Dooley BSHS/425 Gina Harper In human service, the practitioners' goal is to grow the independence of the users of the service. They achieve their goal through education, civic engagement, social change and health promotion in all society levels. The human service practitioners also advocate human system's accessibility, integration, affectivity and efficiency (Agranoff, 2004). To achieve all this in the dream human service the best kind of leadership to is transactional leadership. Transactional leadership style begins with the principle that all members of the team agree that they will totally respect and obey their leader during work. In this leadership type, the transaction states that workers will be paid for their compliance and effort (Agranoff, 2004). With this on mind, the leader is given rights to reward or punish, depending on the job done. Under transactional leadership, members of the team are not given many opportunities to improve their job contentment. It is entirely on the leader to give them control of their salaries through introducing incentives. These incentives require them to offer quality job services which benefit the organization through quality and high production. In case the standards are still not met in transactional leadership, the leader can opt to use management by exception practice, where the team members are punished...

...Janell Taylor 10/23/12 Implicit Test I found the test to be very interesting and I don’t like timed tests because I need time to think about my answer to be sure and confident about my choice. I don’t agree with the results because they said I made too many errors and I don’t understand that because that was just one part where I was making too many errors. It has helped me out in those areas of different topics, but I just wish I had more time. I guess I would say that the answers wasn’t valid enough for me because it didn’t really give me a score because I made too many errors, so I don’t agree with that too much. I believe prejudice is difficult to measure because I don’t agree with it and don’t like the fact that it’s very big and can get worse if we don’t come together to get in one accord to help each other and make the world better to live in dealing with different people and feelings. I think measuring prejudice can be a tough thing to deal with and handle because of the many people that are prejudice, which are hurting and harming many situations and people that’s trying to make it while being equal to everyone regardless of what. I would have to take the test over to get a better score because I felt that wasn’t fair because I made too many errors to get a...

...How the authors and readers create meaning from text: Although these three stories are unrelated to each other they share many examples of symbolism that both the authors as well as the intended audience can create meaning from. The descriptive words that the authors used can better help the readers understand the concept behind the story as well as any symbolism that may be in the story. Salvation, by Langston Hughes tells a story of when Langston was younger and he went to a church revival with his aunt. The revival lasted several weeks and culminated with the younger members of the church being saved. Although the readers could probably envision a church revival, especially if they have been to one the descriptive wording further helped to imagine what was going on. The text helped to create the meaning of the purpose of the revival as well as how Langston felt about being saved. Based on the text it was apparent that Langston was unaware of some the language from his aunt as well as older relatives and friends. He was told by his aunt that, “When you were saved you saw a light, and something happened to you on the inside! And Jesus came into your life” (pg. 343). I completely understood the meaning of that. I also can understand why a young child would take those comments literally and expect to see Jesus. Throughout the revival because of the lack of vision of Jesus, Langston was confused about being saved. This was the most symbolic meaning...

...Social Security is the department within the government that was established to pay benefits to primary workers. Over the years, Social Security has changed to assist not only the primary worker, but dependents, disabled persons, immigrants and children. With each of these factors in place, we can clearly see how one must plan for their own retirement and not solely depend on Social Security. The statement that Social Security will cover needs when one is retired is not only a myth but an ancient and outdated philosophy. As one looks into the Social Security today, one must look at the entire pie. Social Security is a tax paid by working men and women. A percentage of these taxes is suppose to be put away for future use while drawing interest in a high yield savings. However, with the many bailouts, lawsuits, and unsupervised government spending, Social Security has become the (get out of trouble) savings and loan. The funds that were saved has yet been used to bail out banks, help other agencies within the government stay in the black and pay millions to immigrants who have worked in this country. However their money or should one say their Social Security funds go to their country. President Theodore Rossevelt said that “Social Security is a law that will take care of the human needs and provide for the economic structure.” The economic structure is diminished, thereby leaving the human needs of the people in an insecure state. Social Security today is not the Social...
