The Current Problems with Network Security and How We Can Fix Them
Abstract
Network Security has come a long way from the times when their wasn’t a need to worry about networks being attacked, and now to the current evolution of people where it’s not if your network will be attacked, it is when.
The Current Problems with Network Security and How We Can Fix Them
Network Security is defined by Sans Institute as the process of taking physical and software preventative measures to protect the underlying networking infrastructure from unauthorized access, misuse, malfunction, modification, destruction, or improper disclosure, thereby creating a secure platform for computers, users and programs to perform their permitted critical functions within a secure environment (SANS, 2014). As you can see with that definition the meaning can interpreted many different ways, so with this paper I will describe what network security is and how we can fix the ongoing problems.
Current State of Network Security
Before you fix or document any problems with network security you must first evaluate the current state of the problems we face. Most networks are somewhat secure, meaning they have the resources to make them nearly “bullet-proof”, but due to current policies within organizations, the information technology team is unable to enforce maximum security due to employees needing to plug their IPod’s in, charge their cell phones, and access social media sites, etc. the list could go on and on. The functionally of most organizations network security is geared toward making the customers and employees happy and no regards toward protecting all the proprietary information that most hackers are searching for. Most information technology employees know that you cannot protect an organizations network 100%, but you can protect that information where it is not an easy target

...Course Project Week 7 By Christina Johnson and Kenna Grace and Tonnet Slan Presented to Dr. Glenn Palmer Compensation and Benefits |Bank of America: |April 20, 2014 | What is Compensation? “Compensation represents both the intrinsic and extrinsic rewards employees receive for performing their jobs.” Martocchio, J.J. (2013) A Human Resource Management Approach. Compensation as most know is the hourly or annually paid. Compensation consist more of just hourly or annually pay. Organizations create monetary compensation process to reward their employees for their job performance. Monetary compensation is the core of compensation. A nonmonetary reward includes benefits such as medical insurance, paid time off and other services. Employees receive a base pay for performing their jobs. Base pay is recurring based on the company pay schedule. Companies distribute base pay to their employees in one of two forms: hourly pay or as salary. Employees earn hourly pay for every hour worked and salaries regardless of the number of hours worked. Understanding compensation’s goal in an organization takes understanding the role of HR and how compensation function fits into HR. Course Project Week 7

...Mini Paper I am at the midpoint of the completion towards the final project. I have created and provided a survey on Survey Monkey for all employees to participate in. A rating scale for each question was provided that displays the answers to each question, their responses and the rating scales. 5 of the 10 questions had an answer that went from either strongly agreeing to strongly disagreeing. The results were then weighted into a weighted average. At the end of the survey each employee also had an opportunity to provide their thoughts, feedback, and suggestions to the survey. The Survey is entitled Staff Survey. Each staff member was required to take a moment to complete the survey so administrators can get a better understanding of the staff’s thoughts regarding the programs that are being offered, the possible needs of the organization, as well as their overall feelings regarding the work environment and the organization as a whole. The survey consisted of 9 questions with sub-questions. Thirty-four staff members not including the administrative staff participated in the staff-survey. A separate survey for the administration, Board of Directors, parents, and students as well as people in the community will be conducted in separate future assessments. As stated in part two of the project, I am using three methods to assess the needs of the organization. The first completed process is the questionnaire which was given to each staff member that was not administrative...

Week 7 Project Paper

...American Military University All about Network Security: Network Security Means Never Giving an Adversary a Chance. Anthony Portz 4199864 ISSC340 I001 SPR 14 Professor Alidad Jalinous June 16th, 2014 11:55 PM Introduction In this paper I will discuss network security and I will give a detailed description of the area while discussing different technologies that are involved. There are many ways to provide network security and a lot of different aspects to keep in mind. There are a multitude of people who want to attack the internet and everything that it loves. Well luckily there are big security companies like Cisco and Symantec who are there for the user like Tron, and will constantly defend newly discovered loopholes and vulnerabilities. See what global implications network security has and what the future may hold as I discuss the cutting edge technology and applications that new companies are coming out with. What is Network Security? Network security is a terminology that is used to describe any and all actions that are taken to protect and defend a network. Any action that is driven towards network security should be taken to protect the safety, reliability, usability, and the integrity of the network and all of its data. In order to explain network security a little better, I want to define what a network is. A network is defined as a system or grouping of interconnected items or individuals, and as an arrangement of vertical or horizontal lines that...

Week 7 Course Project Assignments

...Week 7 Course Project Assignments Deliverable #1: Discuss the organizational structure and how this may have helped the project. The Organizational structure for my project can be classified as a projectized-type organization. The team members in the project are picked from the outside world (like selecting from another team) and for all intensive purposes are hired for this project only and do not knowingly have duties outside this project. The project manager in this situation also has complete control over the team member as it relates to this project and they are only needed for this project. The project was helped by this due to how things were streamlined and made directive. The project manager had control over all aspects of the project and the people working though them. Tasks that needed to be crashed could be with planning aspects available to the project manager as well. Deliverable #2: Discuss how you did on this project and any lessons learned for you. Self reflection – What did you learn? This was my first true class on project management and I found that there are so many aspects to a project that need to be accounted for. There were aspects to both the software and the actual project manager duties that I needed to get more in tune with and feel I was able to make some great strides but there is more to review. I will likely read the class book again and continue to repeat the lectures as I learn from repetition and actual working though things...

A New House Project Week 7

...A New House –Economy Elena Taylor-Bagger XECO/212 April 5, 2015 Terry Blankenship The strength of the economy as a whole can affect the marginal benefit and the marginal cost, which may have an effect on a person purchasing a home. The purchase of a house is one of the largest monetary purchases an individual can make in their lifetime. If the economy is low then real estate prices may go down to compensate accordingly so that the house will sale. This would be an opportune time to purchase. If the economy is high or strong then the prices are more competitive based on the amount of people that are willing to buy houses. “If measured marginal costs and benefits are provided, it is much easier to calculate the ideal price and quantity.” How does the removal of the tax deductions on mortgage interest affect the housing market? Removal of the tax deduction on mortgage interest affects the housing market by causing the demand for homes to decrease and therefore housing prices to fall even more. Today people that purchase houses count on being able to deduct the mortgage interest from their taxes the following year. People will buy houses up to late December in order to get this deduction. Having a tax deduction on purchasing a home is part of the incentive. If you can purchase a home and deduct the interest paid when you file your taxes, it works to your benefit. If the tax is removed then monthly payments are higher as well. How do other changes in government spending...

All elements involved in the creation of this proposal, from problem definition through action plan, must be covered. Further, the proposal, as constructed, must meet the tests of any sound business plan, namely that it has specific and measurable goals and objectives, clearly defined activities, stipulated time frames during which those activities will take place, and clearly defined measurable outcomes. The subject matter of your paper should be business-oriented in nature and should avoid decisions that depend largely on intuition to solve. Although the length of the paper is not predetermined, a 10–15 page analysis, including data and appendices, is probably correct. You will also share a summary PowerPoint presentation with fellow students during the Week 6 Discussion. The Final Course Project Proposal with the PowerPoint presentation is due by the end of Week 7 (graded). Required Outline The following outline is required for your Course Project.
