January 12, 2013 Psy/ 201 Week 7: Testing Intelligence General statistics Total number of questions: 30 Questions answered: 30 Questions not answered: 0 Questions answered correctly: 18 Questions answered incorrectly: 12 Percentage correct answers: 60 % I did not realize that this test had a time limit; therefore the first time I took the test I was only able to answer 5 questions because I left the computer running. Second time taking the test I was able to answer all 30 questions. My age adjusted IQ score is 107 which is “higher average” and the average score for all test takers is 100. The results seemed to be somewhat accurate, although, I don’t have any other test to go off of just because it would be the first IQ test I actually had taken. I do believe I could have scored higher. This IQ test asked a lot of questions about personal information such as hair color, age, marital status, and whether you smoked cigarettes or not. These questions cause a red flag in my head which made it seem a bit biased. For instance, why does my marital status have to do with my IQ? If I got a low score, would it be my wife’s fault? Nonetheless, I believe that the test is an analysis of IQ levels in a demographic area using persons of diversity in all categories. ...PSY 201 Week 7 assignment 04/15/2012 Testing Intelligence • What is an intelligence quotient? How is this score determined? The intelligence quotient is a score that is measured by one’s chronological and mental age, and then multiplied by 100. The use of this test is to basically determine the I.Q. of an individual, while taking into account their experience because of their age. To determine the mental age of an individual, a test was given that was developed by Alfred Binet. This test was discovered by testing an equal amount of students, that teachers had labeled dull and bright, and giving them all the same test and averaging the results to determine how close to their age they were. This was contributed to the I.Q. exam. The test arranges the chronological age of an individual as the denominator and the mental age as the numerator. This fraction is then multiplied by one hundred, coming up with the intelligence quotient for that individual. With the experimentation of the test, the determination can be made that an individual that has a mental age equal to their chronological age will have an I.Q. of one hundred. It can also be said, that someone with the mental age greater than their chronological age will have an I.Q. over one hundred.
