...Currently, I approach weekly course reading material in a fairly unconventional way. My weekdays are usually incredibly hectic between my job of working with my clients and my day to day personal life with my children, so finding any quality reading time is hard during the day time hours. I generally have all reading material downloaded to my laptop in advance as we all should so I can get in a bit of reading time during my break time and my clients nap time. The problem with this is, even though it is quiet and my break time, there is still quite a bit of activity going on around me having to deal with small odds and ends, breaking any concentration I have and understanding of the text. I do get a small amount of time in peace when I get home and right before the kids get home after school in which I use to get in some reading and study time. This time is definitely quality time as my concentration is at its greatest and I can get something done. The night hours, usually after dinner, is where things have been really difficult as this is the time where the bulk of my study and reading time is. Thankfully my fiancée has begun to rectify this problem for me (when he is home from work himself) by keeping the kids busy with various things and away from me during this time so I can actually get quite a bit done in peace and...

Include a discussion of the principles of authentication such as passwords, multifactor authentication, biometrics, and single-sign-on. An authentication process establishes the identity of some entity under scrutiny. On the Internet, authentication is somewhat more complex. Network entities do not typically have physical access to the parties they are authenticating. Malicious users or programs may attempt to obtain sensitive information, disrupt service, or forge data by impersonating valid entities. Distinguishing these malicious parties from valid entities is the role of authentication, and is a vital role in network security. Access control strategy Discretionary access control Describe how and why discretionary access control will be used. ...University of Phoenix Material Appendix F Part I Define the following terms: Term | Definition | White privilege | White privilege is the theory that describes the treatment of white people as exceptional over that of other races. While we often discuss the clear cases where other races are being discriminated against there is still yet another power at play. The world’s subconscious attraction to the American or European aesthetic. It is the advantage given out of the subconscious desire to give instead of the desire to withhold from others. | Racial profiling | Racial profiling takes place when law enforcement officials make a conscious decision to take action or not take action on the basis of race of the offender. If a police officer pulls a black person over while driving because he or she is driving through a predominantly white neighborhood, then that officer would be guilty of racial profiling. | Racism | Racism is the belief and actions taken based on the belief that race determines the level of human a person is. During the slave trades many traders treated the African slaves as dogs and believed they were such, cattle to do their bidding. They did not judge them on their historical knowledge of the group because they had very limited historical knowledge. They based their decisions about and treatment of the Africans solely on their race. | Reverse discrimination | Reverse discrimination describes the thought that the laws created to protect minorities...

...Ryan Conrad Personal Style Inventory Signature Code: ESFP My first letter in the signature was an E for Extrovert. I know that being an extrovert has been a great asset to me at my work at Target. On a normal 8 hour shift I come into contact with well over a hundred guests and will most likely interact with at least 30-40 asking where something is or if we have a particular product. As it is the Christmas season now I need to be extremely helpful with guest as well as be outgoing enough to ask a puzzled looking guest if I can “help them find anything today?” As well as the many guests I help, I have many coworkers; we have many new hired on because of the holidays, and many I don’t know their names. In order to work most efficiently and effectively, I need to introduce myself constantly so there is no confusion with “hey you’s.” Being an extrovert definitely helps with this kind of working environment. Of course, with how many guests and coworkers I come into contact there are plenty who are introverts and slow the process. Although being extroverted has helped me greatly in my retail job, it hasn’t helped me so much in day-to-day talking with people and a lot of sales associates. I know I tend to ramble a lot and when I’m making a purchase I tend to think aloud and give out more information then I really intend or need too. I recently purchased a laptop computer at best buy and the sales associate there had asked me what I would most likely be using it for, and instead...

...Why is men’s fashion photography redefining the image of the contemporary male and how does it use diverse male sexualities as a tool in advertising? The works of renowned photographers such as Hedi Slimane have a heavy impact on prevailing images of male sexualities in fashion advertising, eventually affecting the image of the ideal male in fashion. Male sexualities in high fashion photography can oscillate between the homoerotic or a dominant hetero-masculinity, thus there is usually no middle ground in fashion advertising, especially where artistic direction takes over. Such advertising targets niche “high fashion” audiences and responds to the popularization of sexual themes in other forms of advertising (and indeed wider media), whilst associating diverse sexualities with artistry. Coding in high fashion advertisements affect, but also respond intuitively to, audience sexual ideologies by deconstructing the concepts of femininity and masculinity that have undergone rapid change in our self-reflective and deconstructing postmodern world. Hedi Slimane’s penchant for androgynous men has significantly heightened popularity for thin male models in the fashion industry. His work usually incorporates explicit concepts of homo-eroticism and femininity inspiring many leading contemporary designers and photographers who saw his designs as radical and surprisingly persuasive” [1]. Indeed, Hedi’s influence on modern fashion aesthetics suggests that “designers everywhere started...

...happy and successful, they must be thin. So-called “plus-size” models are a growing presence on magazine covers, television and lingerie catalogues but at the Fashion Weeks of New York and London they are still the exception. In a reflection of the expanding market for women who defy the super-slender ideals of the catwalk, leading fashion magazine Elle offered its readers a special issue in March featuring larger than normal models and sales jumped. British designer Mark Fast introduced shows last year in which the models were all above a British size twelve, and American size eight, following criticism that his dresses were too skinny. Despite their trailblazing status in the fashion world, when it comes to bigger models New York and London are slightly out of step. The move towards more generously sized models has accelerated since the death from anorexia in 2006 of Brazilian model Ana Carolina Reston, which shocked the fashion world. Spain and Italy banned models below a certain body mass index after her death, while Britain stopped short; banning only those aged under sixteen from the catwalk. “Sixteen corresponds to a level of maturity,” said Caroline Ruth of the British Fashion Council. When Frederique van der Wal, a former Victoria’s Secret model, attended designers’ shows during New York’s Fashion Week this month, she was “shocked” by the waiflike models who paraded down the catwalk. They seemed even skinnier than in previous years. “We know seeing super-thin models...

...Social Marketing – Anti-Anorexia Campaign (Italy) X444 Background While there has been much attention focused on the obesity problem in the developed world, another serious health issue is anorexia nervosa. There is tremendous pressure in the developed world for women to be extremely thin. The current ideal female body is impossible to achieve for the majority of women and is markedly different from the classical ideal dating back to the Greeks and even as recently as the 1950s and 1960s. By today’s standards, Marilyn Monroe and Raquel Welch would be considered “fat.” Venus de Milo Ancient Greece Marilyn Monroe 1950s Raquel Welch 1960s Keira Knightley 2000s While obesity is certainly unhealthy, the social pressure for women to be extremely thin is also unhealthy. According to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) (2007), in the U.S. 7 million women and 1 million men suffer from eating disorder mental illness. Lauter (2008) quoted Marleen S. Williams, a psychology professor at Brigham Young University in Utah who said studies show fewer eating disorders in "cultures that value full-bodied women." • Health impact of eating disorders (ANAD, 2007, except as noted below) o Physical § 20% fatality rate (CBS, 2007) § Malnutrition § Dehydration § Ruptured stomach § Serious heart, kidney, and liver damage § Tooth/gum erosion § Tears of the esophagus o Mental § Depression § Low self-esteem § Shame and guilt § Impaired...
